wer mit deepen house und bassgetriebenen tracks die menge im club hochjagen will, wird an bar 64 nicht vorbeikommen. ein track mit ecken und kanten, voller überraschender effekte, die in takt 64 mit aller eindringlichkeit den nicht zu vermeidenden hands-up-effekt fordern. aufrüttelnd, die komplette aufmerksamkeit auf sich ziehend, mitreissend, eigen. ein unkonventioneller drop nimmt auf den zweiten schlag richtig fahrt auf. der rhythmus ohne durchgängigen open-hihat, aber mit groovigen percussions, untermalt von psychedelische orgeln, die die tragenden bässe jagen und so ziemlich jeden subwoofer an seine grenze bringen. die vocals an sich sind derart verfremdet, dass sie viel mehr an die hypnotisch treibende 303-linie erinnern. der mehrfach gelayerter sound, mit einer vielschichtigen soundstruktur sorgt dafür, dass -bar 64- sich immer wieder aufs neue in unsere köpfe brennt. die ep, die sich erfrischend neu von gängigen club-tracks unterscheidet, liefert drei erlesene remixe, aus der schmiede von ridney (cafe mambo ibiza), alain ho (yellow production) sowie dem newcomer samplicity, der mit -bar 64- sein eindrucksvolles debüt gibt. während der -ridney remix- im unverkennbaren sound als klassisches dj tool zu einer festen größe im underground avanciert, bettet der -samplecity dub remix- die psychedelische orgel in ein klassisches after-hour-club-tool aus dem dj-kreis der produzenten. altmeister alain ho steuert mit seinem mix eine etwas reduziertere version bei, die stilsicher elemente aus dem original mix zitiert und unaufdringlich in einem über acht minuten andauernden track münden - ein hauch cafe del mar inklusive.

bondage-music head honchos pornbugs prep the labels next release for early april comprising three original tracks and a remix from mihai popoviciu. since 2006, german duo pornbugs have been pushing their minimal yet ambitious dance floor orientated house music through clubs across the globe, with their label bondage-music acting as a catalyst for forward thinking music. bondage-music also works as an outlet for other talented producers including romania’s mihai popoviciu and inmotion music signee markus homm to further develop their sound. fresh from a string of early 2017 digital releases from frink and sous sol, april sees bondage-music’s first vinyl offering of the year, kick started with the subtle and melodic cut “when you are gone“, which takes a deep groove and laces it with a plethora of soft synths and atmospherics. mihai popoviciu then reworks “when you are gone“ into a different entity, rewiring a headier groove into the track with raw-defined hats, building further tension with tight synth stabs and ethereal pads. vinyl only track “innocent“ then takes tribal tinged percussion to new depths, fuelling it with booming kicks and flourishing chords, further intensified by swirling vocals. a pure dub aesthetic then shines through “maritza“, as saturated drums and a rumbling low end provide the skeleton for swelling synths to meander alongside spiritual vocals, closing out the package.

nyc-based duo jasmine golestaneh and eddie cooper write songs through a telepathic kinship thevve developed since they started making music together. we have these sort of unspoken criteria when we re writing music. we never really need to explain what that is but we both know when it s missing or when we ve hit it. the pair, aka tempers, are set to release their fundamental fantasy ep via the vinyl factory on 24th february. creating an emotional and tonal tension of sensual and mechanical impulses, their brand of dark electronica sets haunting song writing to a sinister disco beat, pop melodies floating in an almost industrial soundscape. it follows the bands 2015 debut full-length services. fundamental fantasy is about exploring the creative scenery of romantic illusions. our need for them, how we justify them to ourselves, that moment when the imagined story line collides with reality. the ways we fictionalize people to fit into the narratives we have about love - to reflect our own beliefs, virtues and flaws. it is about celebrating fantasies swelling and getting undone, so we can pick up the pieces and craft new ones that serve us better tempers musically, fundamental fantasy is an evolution in both song writing and process, while still tracing a clear line to their earlier output. many of the eps melodies were born of live improvisation, which helped them create an instinctive, natural immediacy within their electronic arrangements. the cover of the ep depicts the duo on the volcanic island of stromboli, where they performed at the volcano extravaganza, an art and music festival curated by the vinyl factory.it is a perfect landscape to mirror the mood of ‘fundamental fantasy. a seemingly idyllic place that is isolated from the outside world.

love tool presents a dreamy opening to the ep, with its effervescent piano riff and lush layers of filters and reverberations, which swell and deflate throughout. bouyant yet gentle, convertible on the m1 is a sunny, textured groove with digital flutes and claps, softly ascending through to a blissful breakdown. on the flip side, underachieving koala juxtaposes eerie vocal samples with melancholy piano chords, making for a poignant cut on the record. untzz twelve inch mainstay arthur miles takes the track in a more club-worthy direction on the remix, giving it a healthy dose of drive and glistening keys, all while staying true to the emotive mood of the original.
