we are super excited to be announcing a very dear project to our hearts and a long awaited project from the man of the hour mr. jay tripwire with this sampler part i from debut lp titled ‘,4th density’, on seasons recordings. after the wonderful response from the titled single ‘,save each other’, featuring the beautiful vocals of marie tweek, we have been waiting to be able to drop this project for the world to enjoy! this project was built for the dance floor! every song on the project has a place in the night and we really hope you enjoy it as much as we have getting it together. if you like it deep and dirty, play this one loud!!

released in 1980 this italo gem has more recently become a huge collectors item worldwide due to its incredibly hard to find status (ú100 ebay / discogs). this album was the prototype for the whole italo sound, with the majority of it written in 1979, but was only a minor hit in its time and not much is now known about the band. the album spawned two singles gipsy and back to heaven but is full of off kilter disco classics such as mister luck and down to the disco. dusted down and remastered this album has really stood the test of time and given a fresh lease of life its bound to find a whole host of new fans worldwide.

the third release on phonica records is a no-nonsense dancefloor burner from matt tolfrey and d. ramirez, with a stunning remix from lauhaus. >bounce to me< is an exquisitely stripped-back jack track, propelled along by clipped vocal samples, deep chord stabs and funked-up percussion - as the title suggests, its all about the bounce. thats really all you need to know: this piece of music has been built for the sole purpose of dancefloor devastation and will do the job every time. matt tolfrey is the boss of leftroom recordings and one of the uks most compelling young dj/producers, with releases on crosstown rebels and viva music among others. d. ramirez is of course the sheffield-based producer behind numerous hit tracks for labels like four:twenty and his own slave recordings. the flipside remix comes from underground hero lauhaus, a dutch producer whos made quite a name for himself with his muscular productions for labels like remote area and intacto. here he toughens and tightens tolfrey and ramirezs original >bounce to me< into a rolling techno groove, adding real drama and forward thrust with crisp hi-hats and stacatto percussion. the soundtrack to late summer has arrived. bounce!

next month we celebrate our 5th anniversary here at dirt crew and we are very pleased to have marc romboy - whos systematic imprint also turned 5 this year - team up with smokin jo to deliver this marvellous two tracker. >what is this?< is a strong tech-house gem, slowly building, pumping groove and with a great sax sample. very recognisable and been doing a really good job on the dancefloors in our sets over the last few months. solid stuff ! as a b-side there is a much deeper and musically more diverse lee jones remix, lee has been one of our favourite producers in the last years with his solo work on labels like aus, liebe * detail and especially his my my project on playhouse, we are very pleased to have him on our label for the very first time with this excellent re-interpretation of >what is this?<

ironic? no, it’s dead serious: sally shapiro keeps on dreaming of barbie and ken. sometimes good things come to those who wait, as is the case with sally shapiro. one shouldn’t really imagine the bashful swede from göteborg, who never performs live, setting a new trend for turning down lucrative offers. and the thought that she is working on something hip, is most likely even a little eerie for her. after all, she s just into something, which she’s been doing since her childhood in the 1980s — singing songs in the style of her idol sandra (”maria magdalena“). if she hadn’t met her companion johan agebjörn, who despite his musical socialization with techno in the 1990s has been deep into italo disco for the past few years and is a collector of zyx records, sally’s passion for synthi songs and fairy-like female vocals would have remained private. however, johan was screwing together some italo-style songs when he asked sally (whose voice he’d only heard from a previous christmas party karaoke) if she would improvise on his soft keyboard tunes, their collaboration was a done deal.
subsequent to their first releases on the labels diskokaine and permanent vacation, sally shapiro suddenly found herself in the midst of the ultra-hip neo/italo-disco movement, which is especially big in scandinavia. why of all things on the northern peninsula, where one traditionally listens to black metal and indie rock played with legs spread apart, the peculiar, yet sunny disco music became such an export hit, stays one of the mysteries of the pop business. it’s a fact, though, that next to internationally celebrated norwegian neodisco-heroes lindström, prins thomas and todd terje, the lovely sally has become the scandinavian disco-act in the mean time.

sebastien leger continues on a slightly more techie approach with another fantastic two tracker you could well see in the boxes of both eric prydz and adam beyer. sebatiens new sound has a fantastic cross genre appeal, with his super-funky cool grooves tight rolling percussion, and intense breaks. this multi-talented producer is really starting to flex his musical muscles. expect huge dj support and continued radio plays.

nys underground celebrity, electronic obscurity and rare disco specialist william burnett (aka grackle, aka speculator) delivers an ep that truly defies any categorization and therefore will have a harder time to find its way into the stores usually packed with easily digestible pre-masticated dancefloor stew that comes with filing recommandations. the music on this record evokes images of mad peyote sessions held amidst dry and sandy landscapes. the original desert acid sounds like a jam machines and instruments would do when left on their own, unsupervised by humans. a wobbly and acidey synthline goes on a psychedelic journey with fuzzy guitar riffs, backed by a stompy almost tribal discobeat. düsseldorfs currently most interesting band musiccargo rework the piece into a cinematic krautdisco gem that floats on a loopy vibraphone drone, sprinkled with german and english lyrics. sombrero galaxy (aka cbs/intergalactic fm regular dj tako reyenga and his mysterious uk buddy jonny nash) take the track into cosmic realms (rare occasion where the term really fits) and their version could easily be interpreted as a vangelis tribute. the last track on the ep we are it is a slow 808 jam with druggy and spaced out fuzzy vocals, paired with equally druggy and fuzzy guitars. if you are a filmmaker and you need a song for a weird desert scene youd be an idiot not to consider this one the perfect choice.

two of turbo s rising stars come together to make one of the biggest records of the year. peanuts club has been arguably the hottest track of the summer for heavyweight djs erol alkan, tiga, and a-trak. it s instantly catchy and massively effective, and we ve seen it bring the best out of the crowd night after night, but you probably already know all about it. the real coup here is that cajou club is another absolute bomb, maybe even better than peanuts club, and more disturbing evidence that france has produced yet another two major-league players in dance music. noob s really been hitting his stride lately, following on terrific remixes for brodinski and d.i.m. and tai s lyposuct, his productions getting exponentially bigger with each release. as for brodi, anyone that s seen him play knows he has all the makings of a star, and if he can keep putting out records this good, the sky s the limit! wanting to go beyond double-megahit and attempt quad-bomb status, we commissioned a terrific remix from sound pellegrino s renaissance man. noob & brodi are in love with it, plus they re the only finns out there to have not produced a record for turbo, so it was a perfect fit. the ph 0 remix on the vinyl is, incredibly, an original take on acid, it s loopy and weird, but works like magic.

rebolledo is an artist from xalapa, mexico, who is very much part of the comeme family of latin american artists. he s been around from the early days when he used to provide music for the buenos aires based bumbumbox street parties. so far he s had tracks on previous comeme releases, notably pitaya frenesi, but this is his first full release on his own. rebodello is the consummate comeme artist, with a quirky sense of humour, a unique latin american approach to dance music and a lean lo-fi approach to track making that is built to cut through on any sound system. lead track >guerrero< follows in comemes now established strange sense of humour, guerrero means warrrior and is a track about a >guerrero< who comes out at night and dresses in leather, it s all shouted vocals simple beats and 80s style synths. venganza y seduccion means vengeance and seduction and features suggestive panted echoing vocals over a cosmic disco bassline, while atmospheric chords build in the background, if this sounds strange it s because it is, but the combination works really well in a club.
the b side of the record is much harder and more techno-like - marchante is completely different, aggressive kick drums, a pulsing bassline and siren-like synths bring this track a panicked feel, which is offset by the way the drums build into tough patterns. raid features strange nonsense vocals over a pulsing rhythm track that reminds of old chicago acid, if it wasn t for the strange atmosphere. rebodello is a very welcome addition to the world of dance music.

with this new ep tom clark makes an impressive return to the highgrade release program. following a collaboration with marcus schatz and most recently with benno blome, he now comes back as a solo artist. after only a few beats, you’ll be sure to recognise his signature sound. tom needs surprisingly few elements to build a unique atmosphere and his matchless grooves. on the title track “scorpio“ we find a deep, rolling bassline and a slightly orientally influenced vocal, combined with the typically unique clarkish synth leads, and we’re ready to go. it’s a track that continually keeps the excitement moving while never letting the cat out of the bag, and more than deserves the a-side. then we come to “albino“, also featuring sparkling synths and rolling drums that create an impression of fluidity and an unhurried beginnings, but we also end up in a waterfall… who would have known!? in conclusion comes “sand flea“, as lively as a box of fleas, but not nearly as aggrivating! mister clark is again at his best, with a love for detail, an innate sence for strange sounds and an a significant quantity of leisurely energy, this tune also really hits the mark. this is not the work of a newbie who produces an aggressive sound to prove his talents. the result is the feature of this ep: seldom has an understatement sounded so fresh. + digital-only bonus track “12 notes“!

trish van eynde has agreed to bless subject detroit with her soulful detroit techno tunes on this first subject belgium release. all tracks are amazing, she really put her soul into this release. respect !!

>who is the person you would most like to work with?< for claude vonstroke, its definitely bootsy collins - the biggest personality in parliament funkadelic and funniest character the funk world has ever seen. we couldn’t be any more excited to have bootsy on dirtybird and this crazy collaboration of styles is the lead single on claude vonstroke’s 2nd album, “bird brain.” if you haven’t heard of bootsy we couldn’t write it better than rolling stone… “bootsy collins’ rubber band was the most entertaining and longest-running spin-off of george clinton’s eternal p-funk circus, and that’s because bootsy is a true star, the clown prince of comic, psychedelic, good-times funk – if he weren’t such a genius of the bass, you’d think he was jimmie walker in a sequined costume, star-shaped mirrored shades included. his career is like a horatio alger story based in chocolate city: plucked from teenage obscurity in 1969 to play with james brown, the former william collins of cincinnati brought a slap-happy zest to jb’s sound, then hooked up with clinton and was reborn in his image, with a little help from lsd.” it is certain that claude vonstroke is not nearly as accomplished as bootsy collins, but he takes the same tongue-in-cheek approach to his music and that’s why this collaboration really works. both claude and bootsy believe you got to get up for the down stroke and there’s no way to fake the funk or your nose will grow, pinocchio!

this is the one you ve all been waiting for, the bad science ep from the mighty rustie. amazingly enough for an artist who has such an huge impact over the last year this is only his second full ep. i could go for on days about how good it is but best not eh. it all kicks off with the fractured hip-hop weirdness of tar and then swiftly moves into the massive bad science. we ve been seeing folk go crazy to bad science and rightly so, its an anthem and has getting properly hammered by kode9 and mark pritchard to name a few. its then on to the out there 8 bit bleepage of shadow enter. the b-side is now dedicated to the now legendary zig-zag and wireblock have really done themselves pround with this one by going straight to one of rustie s hero s the legendary henrich mueller (dopperleffekt, drexciya, arpanet etc) to add his own electro-physics sound to the aquatic mentalness of the original track. it comes to an end with zig zag (reprise), now the original was daft enough but this just to pushes it even further into new realms of madness. buy, buy, buy!

excentric off-shoot rekluse has had a great start so far with carl cox, hell, slam, laurent garnier, james lavelle, technasia, stacey pullen andanderson noise all regularly supporting the label. the previous 4 releases have shown the labels sound to be developing rather nicely with a consistent ear for high production quality alongside a drive for exciting and unconventional electronic music for the dancefloor.the 5th release for the label is supplied by loco & jam, 2 guys who have been really making a name for hemselves in 2009, already with a release on >italo business< under their belts and their remix of henry von s propaganda that has made it s way onto carl coxs >space 2009< compilation. with forthcoming releases penned for >hedgehog< and for umeks >sixteenofive< imprint these guys from limavady, northern ireland are definitely ones to watch out for. >medusa< has been fergie & mr henry von s secret weapon since they first got hold of it, never failing to completely destroy any club that has had it pumped through its soundsystem, as well as support from king unique & the japanese popstars who have been behind it since day one. the a sideis backed with 2 seriously strong cuts that show l&js ability in the studio to take things up a notch (whats the matter) or to twist things up somewhat(virus).

cosmic journey, the monster 303 dominator of a lead cut on this 3-track release from moscows denis a looks like being the biggest release so far from this new label. but really this is all about the monstrous groove that denis a creates with some superb 303 tweaking and peaking that makes this track an instant dancefloor smash. over on the b side sadalmelik and orbis novus are both excellent explorations into tech territory, with catchy melodies, and more minimal styling. perfect for creating a mood, and no less captivating.

moleculez returns to meta4 ready to clear dancefloors with some of his most destructive material to date. you know you are dealing with some serious dance music when none of the tracks on a release have vocal samples. the opening track, future in progress, is blessed with a wonderfully deep kickdrum that would probably even sound good at plus20, although we havent tried that yet. out of a nowhere the track suddenly seems to have stopped when an eerie melody creeps out of the dark. this sets the tone for the rest of the release: dark, driving and threatening. gargoyle is the most driving. lava bomb the eeriest: and future in progress the most threatening. thats what we think, anyway. you decide. the last two tracks on this release are probotector and the haunted. the first is actual textbook honest to goodness industrial hardcore while the latter isnt really anything we can talk about here. highly recommended because we want to sell records

trademark is the collaboration of tony reeves and tundra records labelmate loki. formed in 2000, the trademark project blends electronic studio craft with the live influence of their years playing jazz. trademarks output ranges from chillout through breakbeat to deep house and even drum and bass, but always with the fusion of deep jazzy chords, rolling beats and searing synths that define their style. this year sees the pair return to their roots with some deep, tech-house grooves for the discerning clubber.
ia stands for 4/4 beats and the label starts with a bang with three great and quite different 4/4 tracks for many deep and tech floors, and tropic of capricorn for more chilled moments. elevator is crisp deep/tech house which slowly builds and just rocks! with a wicked solid deep bassline too that keeps things really groovy. jack o diamonds also has that clean crisp sound and groovy bass with synth stabs and lots of funk for loads of different dancefloors. its a bit more upbeat than elevator and also has wicked deep bass to keep peeps movin! saturn 5 is deeper, darker, subtle and just a massive deep phat sound which is totally awesome on any decent system, wonderful deep textures and pads - just really lush. tropic of capricorn is a deep detroity broken beat track that compliments the others. crisp production again and not too cluttered, it does what it needs to and works in many different situations.

as mnx recordings reach double figures they welcome the legendary alex cortex and longtime collaborator lopazz aka bad cop bad cop to the fold with a blistering 4 tracker of live, raw electronics aimed squarely at your frontal lobe aswell as the dancefloors! this work covers the finest elements of deep minimalism, industrial and acid, and keeps it fun with the feeling of a live performance, if anyone can try this approach and pull it off it s these guys! all the tracks are joined together by abstract field recordings from the london underground which add to the murky strangeness of this release! alex cortex has been putting out quality underground music for over a decade with notable and now highly sought after releases on source, klang, and pal sl, with more recent bombs being delivered on platzhirsch, pomelo and of course our very own wireblock! lopazz too has been busy releasing gems on labels such as trevor jacksons output and more recently get physical, were he has been getting a lot of attention, but it s when these two guys team up in the studio that the magic really starts to happen, so waste no time in getting this release because as always its gonna be highly limited!

computor rockers return after the worldwide hit that was computor interface (brk49) with another showcase of exactly how electro should be put together. all too often retro can mean dull and uninspired (or just lame plagiarism), but anyone who has been following ed dmxs career over the last several years will know that really isnt the way he plays the game. instead he understands the value of songs and melody... the beats are fresh, without a doubt, but it will usually be the tune or the lyrics that will hook you into a dmx production, the elements that turn just another electro track into something unique and valuable. and so it proves here, from the classic computor shock (which helpfully comes in vocal and instrumental versions for those who just cant do the voice thing) to the melodic and hooky electro-funk of how we used to rock and distributed processing. stunning as always!

the original instrumental mix of stardust was one of hed kandis favourites at el divino last summer, and with the new season already taken off with the ims and the opening fiestas last week, ibiza is the perfect place to drop the new vocal mix, which really sounds like the long awaited vocal version of pjanoo that has never seen the lights of the day. this adds a monster loleatta holloway sampling vocal to the large twisted disco groove of the original. a massive bomb that is set to be a big hit for the usuals! skylarks andy chatterley takes to the controls with a powerful interpretation, complete with sharp driving drums and an underlying techno rhythm. a more stripped down dub mix is enclosed also for those who like things a little bit darker and deeper. last but no by means least, tim hudson, fresh from his latest here comes the sun release on hysterical, turns in a hypnotic house groove to make you smile.

walter mecca releases his debut 7 inch on favorite recordings! he is a real breath of fresh air, as are other label artists such as onra, yann kesz, dwilt sharpp and lorett fleur. watch out featuring jessica pepper is the dope title track, a tough but heavily boogified future classic! the other side is the beautiful track pleasure, including soulful outerspace grooves and an awesome melody that really grow on you. this track is a must have.
