what started out as a simple email exchange between a young, hungry beatmaker and a seasoned player in the worlds of jazz and midwestern indie hip-hop, has resulted in a vibrant record nearly a decade in the making. on one side of let it out sits miles bonny, a long time musical collaborator who spent his youth soaking in powerful musical moments in nyc under the tutelage of his trumpet-slinging father, francis bonny, and later as a teen immersed in new york s busy indie-hip-hop scene. as he grew up miles cemented himself a niche in the midwest, most notably in lawrence, kansas where tireless forays into beatmaking led to the founding of the much-loved innatesounds crew and record label, as well as a series of solo releases and collaborative projects.

paul johnson retruns on his own chiwax series! volume 6 is no other than the classic from 1994, called -let me know-.
originally released on cajual records. now this beauty is back & remastered on black solid vinyl - worth to check!

amsterdam s let recordings is back for a sixth release, titled communication , this time by jon hester. hester hails from chicago and minneapolis, and is now based in berlin. eps on dystopian and rekids spx have established him with a loopy and hypnotic techno sound that fits perfectly with let.

munich s counterweight is back with some serious stuff from the hands of gonzo mdf. the second vinyl release of the label cuts it straight to the point: this is techno for the dancefloor without compromise. the madness starts with -don t trust those who talk so much- with its acid touch and rough atmosphere. in a2 endlec translated the track into his own language: beast-techno. in -destroy- gonzo mdf finds the perfect balance between melancholy and aggressive percussion and -we didn t give up- is the perfect way to round up the release. so... we let them talk and we keep on working .

“the marshall suite” is a 1999 album by the fall (their 20th). the album builds on the techno-influenced beats of its predecessor levitate (1997), while also returning to a more rockabilly-influenced sound reminiscent of earlier fall line-ups.
the end result has songs like the catchy “touch sensitive”, and the strange, complex, thumping jungle beats of “crying marshall”.
the album was long out of print on vinyl, until now.

m&g was the duo of maurizio “sangy” sangineto and mirko galli from vicenza, italy. sangy began his music career in 1979 with italian disco group firefly and recorded a solo album steps in 1980. two years later he co-founded italo-disco band the creatures and synth-funk crossover act the armed gang. he met young dj mirko galli at l altro mondo studios in rimini.

back to back 70s roots shots from joe morgan, his first and second ever tunes. while many know joe from his wackie s anthem basement session, joe was already producing himself in the mid 70s on his own afro black label in jamaica before coming to nyc. both of these tunes are stone cold classics long hunted by roots collectors, and the rhythms used should be familiar to astute listeners from other brilliant cuts. joe continued to record and produce himself and other artists on his own main imprint fish tea, and other labels label thru the 80s. the two tunes issued on this fish tea 12inch both originally appeared as afro black label 45 s in jamaica, and the b-side also on a pet shop label 45 in nyc

advanced deep driving techno from amsterdam! jp enfant s let recordings continues to slowly but surely build a fine reputation, and in fact his last ep on the label featured a track, sirens , which got used to great effect by daniel avery on his acclaimed dj kicks mix. now a fourth interesting ep on let recordings comes from shoal, who makes his first out on vinyl after a digital release on planet rhythm in october. utrecht based shoal aims to balance his techno sounds somewhere between rhythmic hypnosis and detailed soundscaping. he urges listeners to twitch out of their comfort zone and to really engage with his music. that is made all the more easy given that it is such inventive stuff. a powerful ep from this emerging new artist.

on let go & release yourself! ep, jamal moss and steve poindexter return with 3 tracks of straight bugged-out freakness and manic drum mechanics. the unbearable tension on the a side is a tweaked-out acid stomper, while the release and the title track back off slightly, but not much!
