alexander lay-far, one of the most prolific and in demand music producers in russia, is about to release his long-awaited 3rd studio album war is over! deeply personal, honest, emotional and uncompromising album boasts the exciting collaborations with the likes of stee downes, jesse futerman, pete simpson, riddim research lab, phil gerus, andy compton and recloose. after a slew of successful releases on the ever so great local talk, leng records, g.a.m.m., razor n tape, bbe among handful other labels, lay-far is releasing a 100% diy product on his own imprint in-beat-ween music.

before joining forces in the studio, both moscow-based musicians have delivered a string of memorable solo productions. lay-far has previously released a wealth of material on such labels as local talk, city fly, lazy days and 4lux black, while synthesizer fetishist gerus has showcased his electrofunk and disco-fired cuts on futureboogie recordings, sonar kollektiv, public release and superior elevation records.
the five tracks that make up solitary high social club deliver a perfect marriage of the two producers’ distinctive solo styles, combining the rich musicality of lay-far’s house productions with the spacey, intergalactic electronics of gerus’s discoid adventures. in many ways, it’s a marriage made in heaven – or in lay-far’s celebrated in-beat-ween studio, at least.

manchester s very own mr scruff and nyc crate digger ge-ology remix moscow s lay-far! now that s what we call a truly international release. it s kind of a dream release for us at local talk as both scruff and ge-ology have been on our we wanna get them on local talk plastic list for quite some time. starting off we find scruff going for a slight disco(ish) rub where analogue synths bumps around with a dark but musical basement feel...but still jazzy! on the flip our man ge-ology who is riding high on the hype from his release on theo parrish s sound signature label goes on a deep and spaced out electronic house venture that is so edgy it hurts. its that good good shit basically...enjoy!

for years nathan church has been cutting up floors in his native bilbao. recently the basque man s attention has turned from the dj booth to the studio. under his wldv (we love dolce vita) this iberian electronic inspiration has cast long shadows and brightened rooms with his blend of horror score intensity and disco exuberance. wldv arrives at the bordello with a four tracker of serious intent. sepulchral and sinister synthlines characterise a dying feast, nowhere more than in the haunting samples and clean drums of -a bucket of blood-. cold chords gleam with icy menace while crisp claps punctuate the entrancing funk of -danza macabra-. ecclesia toys with set parameters, exploring what lurks in the twilight between terror and titillation. this flirtation with the divine and the profane is plain to hear in the uneasy elegance and uplifting elation of -far, far away-, a work of steady kicks, unsettling extracts and soaring strings. this -feast- ends on a delectable note. keys dance and spiral in the intoxicating -laying down on cosmic dust-, an enthralling end to and enthralling ep.

uncage founder marco faraone debuts on rekids, dropping four techno cuts on the label’s special projects series this march. the italian producer has had a busy few years touring north america, south america and europe, not to mention dropping releases on labels like ovum and tenax recordings. meanwhile his uncage imprint, which he runs alongside norman methner, has quickly cemented a reputation for quality house and techno, releasing music from artists like eduardo de la calle, pablo mateo and fabio della torre (under his corcos moniker). with its rolling percussion and a heady spoken word sample, find the song introduces a quintessential rekids record. thunderous kick drums and piercing stabs then form the high-octane arcane before the dark and ominous justice demonstrates industrial elements and floating atmospherics. tying it all together, tantalizing melodies join echoing effects for the final track titled layers.
