as well as all the jazz and funk, best italy are also dab hands at digging out italo disco gems that pretty much qualify as proto house jams for their heavy spinning by the seminal chicago djs like ron hardy. this essential transmission from amnesie is a fine case in point, a one hit wonder originally released in 1983 appropriately enough on proto records. now turas makes a welcome return, sounding resplendent in both vocal and instrumental versions, but the real treat for the dedicated diggers is the previously unreleased dub version mixed by legendary dj tony carrasco. thats the jam that will have eclectic spinners getting in a lather.

repress incoming! a blast from the past... one of the most iconic tracks from the noir music back-catalogue makes a remixed revival. 3 impressive remixes to spice up your dj sets. victor ruiz makes bipolar star a fantastic big room techno stomper with his signature sound and just the right amount of melody from the original to make it recognizable. re:axis almost makes the track unrecognicable with a more minimal techno approach. something i am sure will please the forefront of the underground techno scene. animal picnic & aaryon almost pays tribute to the original with their very cool update keeping a lot of the original feel but cleverly tweaked the elements to sound super fresh again. i believe there�s a little something for everyone in this remix package which was the purpose behind doing it instead of a bunch of remixes sounding the same. i hope you like the new remixes and put �bipolar star� right back into rotation.

-soca trance- will bring some extra heat on the dance floor, it s a heavily cut-up, rough electronic soca rhythm with fragments of looped steeldrum melody on top. -i m alive- is another latin banger, a piece of proto house with some lush vocals in the background and a synthesized tropical bird flying over. on the flip, kalao is an underground afro/french drum track with lots of flanged percussion, cheering black vocals and an elephant passing by. body & soul is the most discoish edit of all: a hypnotic groove with a killer baseline (and a flute sound) interrupted by an uplifting drumbreak.

here s one for all the hardcore disco and soul lovers out there, one of the finest and rarest manifestations of the legendary writing, arranging and production team of randy muller and jeff lane (skyy, bt express, brass construction, aquarian dream, spiders webb and many more!). first appearing as a columbia records disco series promo 12- in 1976 this is a wondrous example of that mid to late 70 s uptempo soul sound morphing into disco, and boy are we glad it did! drenched in pure philly vibes i m ready to give up my life is a real beauty, clocking in at over 9 mins of pure dance-floor joy with soaring strings and a driving rhythm. pure class all the way and one for the aficionados for sure. beautiful soul music that will certainly deliver the goods in the club indeed. as per the original 1976 promo release this 12- features the same program on both sides. this underground disco classic has been legally reissued by above board distribution in conjunction with the legal rights holders - sony music entertainment. this high quality repress features original columbia white label disco 12- artwork and has been remastered from sony s original sources by optimum mastering, bristol uk.

an ardent heart is a focused techno mini album that brings forward stefan goldmann�s most dancefloor-centered material in a decade. the tracks push and pull relentlessly. despite their linear appeal, there is an intricately balanced interplay between the heavy-handed kicks, the bouncy bass accents and the sizzling, yet clear-cut details whipped up by the rallying drums. the peculiar, seemingly �vocalised� mode of synthesis is maybe the most unifying sonic characteristic of the six tracks and one coda. formant shaping, vowel filters and airstream perturbations let a wide range of sounding elements speak in the tongues of a cybernetic babylon. layered polymetric patterns perforate the aural plane with alien scripts. clearly structured, yet opaque messages that seem to have traveled for aeons emanate from the red-hot circuitry. they spill into a network of delays, channeled down into labyrinthine corridors, enveloped in electrostatic noise. most tracks build on chance patterns evoked with hardware sequencers and freeform modulation sources. the resulting synthetic systems are as cohesive as they exhibit vast internal variation and range. thus balancing simplicity and complexity right in the middle, the results are just as immediately gripping as they can feed sustained attention. a wide palette of distortion and overtones mark the contours of individual elements that seem to have near-physical qualities � as if there were metallic strings, thick membranes, a resonating sphere, all struck by electric mallets, caused to vibrate by mechanical bows and sung by silicone lips.

tatu metsätähti and tatu peltonen formed their electro duo mr velcro fastener in the small town of turku, finland back in 1995. in 1999, after a couple of twelve inches, they released their first full length album �lucky bastards living up north� on i220, which was well noted (not only for its hyper colourful cover art by the designers republic). the album took the duo touring in europe and overseas, and led to further releases on labels like stars-music, ali b�s air recordings, solina records, cyber dance and of course billy nasty�s electrix, as well as remixes for the likes of hardfloor, marco carola, dk8, transparent sound and aux88. returning to electrix with their third full ep for the label (and a gap of 13 years!) they have delivered their own unique and recognizable electro sound with two new cuts. �a monster in two worlds� with its electro-funk sound, classic vocoded vocals and grinding groove is a perfect opener, while �bakteriofag� (bacteriophage in english) like its name, creeps up like a virus, infecting the senses with its crisp and shining melody. additionally, there�s remixes of �a monster in two worlds� from silicon scally (carl finlow in his electro guise) and m-twelve (the new moniker recently launched by billy nasty and surface�s nick dunton) to complete the line-up.
