limited coloured vinyl pressing. one of my big favourite instra tunes is vicodin (released with lets talk – a dark, foreboding dubstep classic) and it gets a makeover by skudge who are getting mentions everywhere right now. check this track, even the waveform looks f***in dark! skudge warp it into something between dubstep and house but with all the downer-rhythm that really makes this track. along with the remix theres more from boddika in grand prix. short and sweet little hypnotic bounce track with serious dancability.

fresh from the pleasures of introducing jon convex to the world, 3024 heads off on a pair of tangents for the next project. the 14th release marks the labels first split 12 inch - a result of 2 tracks falling in to their collective lap that were too good to wait for individual releases. despite the 2 very different acts involved, the symmetry in both musical background and production methodology makes for a record as coherent as any in the labels back catalogue, with both artists closely linked to both 3024 and martyns career.

we get a taste of the album on the sampler with electro x juke style tracks >thomp< and >when i dip< which have both been savaging dance floors worldwide over the last few months in the sets of djs such as loefah, addison groove, craig richards and benji b amongst others.

22 years ago saw the release of goldie’s debut album ‘timeless’ which truly changed the face of drum’n’bass, hardcore and jungle. the seminal record featured the iconic track ‘inner city life’ - the vocals for which were performed by the late diane charlemagne. in 2011, the guardian described the release of ‘timeless’ as one of the -50 key events in the history of dance music-. mobo award-winning songwriter, dj, producer, visual artist and actor goldie (mbe) will release a new double album ‘the journey man’ on june 16th, all written and produced by goldie. collaborators on ‘the journey man’ album include vocalist and songwriter natalie duncan, terri walker, tyler lee daly, natalie williams, jose james, naomi pryor as well as goldie’s wife, mika wassenaar price. goldie is also one of only a handful of artists ever to co-write with david bowie – on the track ‘truth’ from the drum‘n’bass pioneer’s second album, ‘saturnz return’ released in 1998. the album also featured distinguished collaborators such as noel gallagher and krs-one. goldie will be performing an exclusive, sold-out set of shows at london’s esteemed venue ronnie scott’s on 24th and 25th of february, where he will be performing with the heritage ensemble along with ‘the journey man’ vocalists terri walker, tyler lee daly and natalie duncan.

kid drama’s debut metalheadz release is one that is set to shake up this 4-year-old alias as he heads in a direction that’s slightly more focussed on the dancefloor, whilst managing to subtly retain some of the elements that have seen him become so loved in the deeper and more experimental side of drum and bass. the ‘trife ep’ proves how much of a talent kid drama is, from the savage bassline in ‘brutal d’ to the late 90s techstep vibes of ‘articulation’ all the way to ‘payback’, which is a track that could have easily come out under his and boddika’s instra:mental moniker. this is an extremely well-rounded project and one we’re delighted to be releasing on metalheadz.

having released the anonymous and enormous f**k yonkers bootleg earlier this year, the amsterdam based audio culture label is poised to unleash their first official release, a piece of music which is the result of the collaborative efforts of dutch wunderkind presk and amsterdams premier tastemaker cinnaman. in part, pieter presk willems support is responsible for the labels inception. in a short space of time presk has built up a solid and impressively distinct sounding catalogue of work released on respected imprints such as ramp sister label fourth wave and doc daneekas ten thousand yen. making a name for himself with nothing more than his hands and impeccable taste, yuri cinnaman boselie has become somewhat of a musical institution in amsterdam. he is the man behind the ground breaking colors nights and is responsible for the equally forward thinking beat dimensions compilations. the b-side features two expertly remixed and uniquely different takes on the original, courtesy of non other than instra:mentals jon convex and ten thousand yen head honcho doc daneeka.

instra:mentals ever-evolving imprint is preparing to drop one of the more esoteric dance singles of the year in double hearts >salsa<, a glooped out swirl of an electro-house joint that jams on a particularly twisted variety of wavelengths. what strikes initially is the oscillating breakdown, but once inside the blender we are subjected to beady, drizzled percussion and six different shades of fire. a true hybrid, jd twitch and neil landstrumm’s new doubleheart project sounds very next level, indeed.

in 4 years anile has steadily established himself as a underground d&b solider. this release for spirits label is a absolute stomper >exclusion zone<. real heavyweight d&b with no cheese. the flip >code of conduct< by anile & dakosa rolls out controlled techoid fun pressure with super weighty low end sub-bass. sinister music for the real d&b heads, perfect to mix, perfect to make you move.

the first release for consequence and joe sevens new alias they live is on dbridge & instra:mentals autonomic label. creeping in with a slightly haunting melody and sparse drums, >pure palms< starts off with little indication of where the track might lead, it feels as though it could go in any direction. as it slowly builds, the warmth and weight û and deep-set rhythms û that consequence is known for begin settling, and open up to an evocative, widescreen track of immense beauty.

once again phunkfiction brings on a hot new talent: notion is known for combining deep and dark moods with a wide range of musical elements and influences. >because< is a sick half tempo track using an ultra catchy pitched down vocal sample and an outstanding sound design - one for the fans of instra:mental and d-bridge. >iota< is a very stripped down dancefloor tool still spreading a big amount of funk - head nodding guaranteed. both tracks are getting support by many big djs on the scene.
