dj seinfeld presents an immersive ep exploring the balance between fragility and force. ‘sakura ep’ is the third and most dynamic offering from deep sea frequency. four tracks draw from a multitude of influences, breaks, electro, dub and trance elements band together with a familiar lo-fidelity approach where distortion acts as an instrument of its own. ‘sakura’ is a subaquatic dose of old school electro with swollen bass and fuzzy harmonics. title track ‘segrada’ brandishes swirling melodies with layers of detail, followed by ‘belvedere’ which uses looped breaks and a sub-driven bassline to build animated funk. ‘battery’ closes things out with a nod to detroit, and a full on drum workout which plays with delicate melodic inflections over a cavernous low end.

what if music had no beginning, no end? can music exist for itself or of itself, without structure constraining it, defining it? can music be non-linear, non-narrative, simply experiential, existential? the second full-length album on mysteries of the deep, musica enterrada from portland’s william selman, neither answers these questions nor supposes them. but in listening, one can’t help but wonder: what if i disappeared into this record forever? in another time and place, william selman was known as warmdesk, an alias through which he issued a series of sharply precise minimal techno records. in recent past, selman shifted gears, shedding the dynamics of tension and release that characterized his previous alias output. under his own name, selman began releasing process-oriented, freeform experimental music on cassette-focused outlets like digitalis and hausu mountain. now comes musica enterrada, a diaphanous, weightless musical vision not unlike the theoretical square root of grm and popol vuhs early electronic forays. split into six tracks across two sides of vinyl, musica enterrada bubbles, churns, drifts, and dozes. dulcet tones pile up gently like waves on shore. patterns repeat and reconfigure, as if heard from different angles. rhythms appear, shift the frame, then disappear, into the ether whence they came. play musica enterrada on repeat. and if you disappear into it, fret not you have drifted into solace.

in the years following the world war two, japan developed one of the most insatiable, dynamic and diverse markets for jazz. for a crucial period of little over a decade - from the late 1960s to the early 1980s - japanese jazz culture progressed at an astonishing rate, producing an extraordinary array of artists, recordings and record labels that created some of the most forward thinking and impressive jazz to be committed to tape. this amazing journey is explored on ‘j jazz’.

the release of the elements ep marks the return of antonio de angelis to dynamic reflection. after the initial success of his hyper ep on the nursery series, the london based producer is back to deliver his first full 12” for the mother label. displaying great versatility, de angelis demonstrates his unique talent to catch different sounds and vibes within a clearly coherent style. giving his own unique twist to everything from powerful dance floor killers to deep mind trippers and all that is in between, antonio de angelis delivers a timeless ep that is as versatile as the elements it is named after.

eric fetcher has been given the honour of contributing to invite’s choice and does so with a four-track banger for its ninth output.
kaissa’s neurotic synth and wobbly bass combined with its forceful hi-hat open this ep in a stripped-down fashion, which makes it perfect to build tension and make transitions in any dirfections while mixing. mephisto continues on the path chosen with coherent and hypnotising synthesis, whilst keeping a funky kind of feel due to the very present kick and hi-hats, yet has a darker feel to it. deep blue on the b-side is a more four-to-the-flour track with a rousing synth and banging hi-hat, perfect for lifting up a crowd! cray blitz combines hypnotising bleep-like sounds and a mind-blowing string with droning low-end sounds. hypnotising like the other tracks - but with more drive - this ep is closed down. eric fetcher showcases his take on techno which fits perfectly between both modern day and oldschool techno!

after spending a year on the road, experimenting with new sounds and production methods, abstract division returns to their home imprint with the release of the activated ep. fashioned true to their well known unique balanced style, this three track ep presents its listener with a powerful blend of deep tools and peak-time grooves. a real must-have for every selector, these tracks will cary any dance-floor deep in to the night, and far beyond.

for the second and last ep of contemporary spaces remixes, dynamic reflection welcomes yet another batch of talented producers to the label. just like the first remix ep, it is a mix between household names, and up and comers. first off, it’s perc’s interpretation of glide. the uk based artist, who is known for his use of distortion and aggressiveness, takes it down a notch on this occasion. he has made glide into a echoing and glitchy track that doesn t reach its energy peak until the last couple of minutes. matrixxman takes overwith his biohazard mix of future existence, which contains a tensive synth, confined by a filter that gradually opens,and than closes again, retaining your attention at all times. on the bside, shdw and obscure shape reshaped the hunt to provide the first outright dance floor track of the ep. with its thumping kick and epic pads around the breaks, it’s bound to win crowds over in the club. dutch talent ben buitendijk also remixed future existence, in his own distinctive, hypnotic style. a deep, though energetic track with a very mature sound.

the first release on the newly formed into the deep label (formally confluence records) is an abstract 4 track ep from spanish electronic artist jose rico. combining downtempo and dubby styles with more dynamic sounds this ep is a merging of abstract territories that lie somewhere between ambient and house.

a couple of months after the release of contemporary spaces, four of abstract division s tracks get remixed. and who better suited for the job than label residents stefan vincent and deepbass & ness, and dynamic reflection debutants tensal and lewis fautzi.

ddsr005 comes from the new york city based newcomer edgar m. a house producer by trade, this is edgar ms debut release but it doesnt show, demonstrating an ear for sound aesthetics and dynamics that immediately caught the attention of deep down slam. his track >oscillate< is a little masterpiece, rich with musicality and vintage sounding production techniques that are reminiscent of early strictly rhythm. this ep sounds just like it came straight out of 1991 and was entirely produced on vintage hardware/analog based equipment. to complement this release we have zurich based house producer donato capozzi on the remix duties who delivers a great dub version of >that strut<. this is a release for the lovers and vintage sounding house diggers out there, ny touch guaranteed!

once again another masterpiece from the dynamic reflection squad in your face! this time its from the uk monster voidloss. the title track acteon is already an oldy and paul felt in love with it a long time ago. it was already digital released in 2007, but we asked voidloss if he wanted to see this on pure gold as well... and of course he wanted that! so why dont we put up an whole ep with more dancefloor killers of this man? grovskopa is always capable of delivering good remixes and so he did. this time something a little bit different then what you expect, but with this track he shows us what an open mind he has on techno. rolling crunchy basslines and smooth pads bring this track in a perfect vibe to set the tone for the night. moment of total emptiness is a more deeper and hypnotic tune, but will definitely bang your head on the dancefloor. mr. a. paul is going for the rework and came up with a really great uplifting and oldschool touch. perfect tool to use in your dj sets! all n all a superior release by this uk studio wizard. lets pray for more of this pure quality stuff and keep our eyes on the the future. the scene need more labels like this which reflects the current techno movement and promises loads more of that sweet stuff in days to come.. dynamic reflection will represent only the true spirit of pure techno, they will put only the quality stuff back on the dancefloor!

this japanese technopioneer has done some masterpieces last year on well respected labels such as audio assault and zwart. now its time to hit back with a stunning and pounding ep on the new label dynamic reflection. this kid is the headchef of mindcrushing synths, steady pounding beats and crispy percussionloops as the first track so clearly shows. the guys from radial put out an awesome remix on the a2! their rework leads you into the dark paths of techno, a true dancefloor killer! before checking the flipside you better insert your earplugs, cause here mr. hiyama comes up with an narly mind blowing stomper. he shows us how stuff like this is meant to be done and has no mercy on those eardrums. secondly there is another remix from the spanish wonderboy reeko, who takes you into the deep and dark dungeons of his spanish artgallery. with his heavy basslines and his extraordinary uplifting percussion loops he pushes himself to another level with this one! all n all a superior first release on this new and pure techno label, which perfectly reflects the current techno movement and promises loads more of that sweet stuff in days to come

echocord returns late june with a new release, joel alter under his jor-el alias, entitled ‘tilted reality’ and comprising three originals from the swedish artist. currently based in copenhagen, sweden born producer and dj joel alter is a name synonymous with the contemporary techno scene on both his home turf and across the globe, his back catalogue to date features a long player for the uncanny valley imprint, solo ep’s for d’julz’ bass culture, sweatshop and collaborative works for kontra musik alongside henrik johnsson amongst much more. this time round though we see alter return under his jor-el guise under which he first started releasing material on dj hell’s internation deejay gigolo imprint. up first is title-track ‘tilted reality’ laid out over seven minutes with a slowly unfolding dynamic feel, encompassing spiraling atmospherics, distorted rhythms and blooming stab- sequences. ‘elevation’ follows and takes a more direct groove-driven approach via straight four-four percussion and hooky bass chops, whilst tension building pads and fluttering dub echoes gradually build around the foundation. ‘solitude’ closes out the package deliving into deeper realms with soft ethereal dub chords, acid tinged leads and emotive strings.

multicast dynamics returns to astral industries for ai-26, this time collaborating with sid hille, the german born, finland based instrumentalist and composer. ‘metamorphosis’ transmutes both artists’ unique styles into a synergistic blend of transportive storytelling, a delicate dance of light and dark.divided into two parts, ’metamorphosis’ originates from a live performance recorded at temppeliaukio church in helsinki on march 2nd, 2019. the material was then edited, where hille’s soothing keyboard work and haunting passages on the theremin, combine with processed textures and desolate sonic backdrops from dijk. in this voyage beyond space and time, the subtle dialogue reveals new and perhaps unexpected dimensions in their creative arsenal, finding fresh new boundaries and enriching the palette of both performers. encounters of sweet fleeting moments of lyricism emerge amidst the chilling outback, in which we re given some final consolation between the long lines of cavernous rifts and deep space tundra.

the production and dj sets from metabomen aka krause duo is constructed for the most part as a free-spirited bunch with a special twist. it doesnt matter whether the material is with a jazz catalog, a frizzy sound, a dragging house or a techno press. an inimitable signature is not only clearly identified, no, but for the listeners of krause duo the good ol 10-second preview doesnt need three guesses. the answer from every contestant in the studio booth comes as if shot out from a cannon, so distinct is that krause formulation. from depth and nevertheless a clubby art with stay-fresh ideas. here, reliable doesnt mean stagnant. for the (up to now) 34th release from musikkrause, ian simmonds is comfortably on hand for both sides of the vinyl disc in the studio. out comes two monumentally deep waltzes full of raunchy charm and a knee-deep appreciation for jazz. the impact of both tracks is so spiritual that to speak of dance music is not the issue at hand, but rather something of a ghostly slam to the body. if you listen closely enough you can hear the diligent work of your own being. by means of the poetically-painted tones of simmonds and the clutter, which despite the many tonal designs and devices in this >authoritive-techno<, it has no fore-bearer. you can also tell the form of the work undertaken by the joint venture krause/simmonds isnt complete by a long shot even though in this manifestation there is nothing left to add. the distribution of dynamics appears to be so well-coordinated that there is simply the thrill of savoring such thoughtful club music

repress - standard cover - what? unit 2, the classic mad mike production for the seminal detroit house label happy records (a subdivision to underground resistance, distributed by submerge) remixed some decades later? blasphemy, you might cry, a sacrilege, others might say, discogs police sirens everywhere. whatever the verdict, approved and sanctioned by the copyright holder himself, here it comes again and again. begotten during a kink live set, successfully identified by the running back ceo, extracted and road tested as a phantasmal endorphin-producing staple in his dj sets, later released as a limited, stamped white label and now properly issued by popular demand. people whose life is not a big room or a rave in a car park, will find a tamer, but nonetheless heartfelt remix by romeÕs dynamic duo tiger & woods on the flip. deep doesnÕt always rhyme with sleep.

creativity lies in various artistic factors based mainly on commitment and maturity that is acquired with it, each project is a decision that is forged with a cold mind and requires to be conceived at the right time, a waiting time between projection and execution, this is what presents us with dorhg on his new label atroc records, where he opens a catalog with the remixes of kalter ende & sarf, a 180g and twelve inches ltd vinyl, entitled “fixing process“. the path taken by dorhg with fixing process reveals his experience and vocation for dynamic, rhythmic, deep and syncopated structures, through icy and mental sequences, without leaving aside the physical and direct in his message. melting is the track that opens the release, it is bent to a deep bass sequence that reiterates its presence without variation, and although it acts as the central axis of the track, it is the percussive elements that are annexed in the background that give a certain energetic charge. indistinctly to the original version, kalter ende refuses to maintain this bass line and leads us to another character more dense and textured in his adaptation, but preserving the rhythmic nerve. coalescence occupies the b-side. with the original, dorhg repeats the formula in terms of intensity, this time it is different components that alternate protagonism in a linear work loaded with particles that go from maximum excitement to calm. on the other hand, sarf creates with his remix a solid, direct techno piece with several ingredients operating in a loop and a deep textured mattress that gradually varies in intensity.

after metropolitan jazz affair, the dynamics and mr president, master of musical ubiquity bruno ?patchworks? hovart proudly presents uptown funk empire, a burning tribute to one of his all time greatest loves: funk. bruno ?patchworks? hovart, as a self-taught musician and typical teenager, started playling guitar, bass and keyboards at age 15, covering james brown, jimi hendrix and cream in his bedroom and, later in college bands. his first releases are in the mid 90s, with deep house and disco live bands and various electronic projects. he quickly develops and shows very special skills for vintage disco/funk productions with a contemporary flavor. this gifted boy?s been working with artists such as amp fiddler, archie shepp, mr day, paul randolph... and for many recording labels such as i still music (usa), favorite recordings (france), infracom (germany), further out (uk)... uptown funk empire is an exciting and ambitious project, worthy of its name. while the first album is simply called ?the empire strikes back?, it?s no joke... forget the whole revival thing, this sounds like an actual rebirth of the real funky stuff. it?s like being back to the better days of funk without a travel machine... the vibe is vintage but the sound is fresh...that?s not funky music, that?s funky music !

in the late 80s i started listening to uk radio stations when i was a little kid and i instantly fell in love with the acid sound and rave movement that was portrayed on those uk dance shows. when i got old enough to attend clubs and warehouse raves, to experience the movement first hand, it was a nobrainer for me that the music and the lifestyle was my call. lately…. in my dj sets and when producing music… i have been time travelling back to those days. back to how i remember the music i fell so deeply in love with and that is exactly what you hear on this “done/undone” release. for the “done” track i teamed up with cari golden to have a female spoken word and a great message to build the music around. i always prefer to do original vocal recordings rather than using samples. cari understood 100% what i was after and i love the lyrics and execution by her. the spoken word is centered, very clear and deep to contrast the constantly building intensity of the acid patterns and thumping beats. “undone” is instrumental and has a more straight forward flow to it. it’s quite simple although the shifting groove patterns might surprise some. i was torn between two different acid patterns and decided to drop one of them as a surprise change. playing the track in clubs i quickly learned that the change of dynamics had a great effect. both tracks have been wrapped in dark-themed chords and atmosphere. both tracks have my take on the sound i fell in love with years ago and obviously still love today. i hope you like what you hear.

if there s one thing wolf music know a thing or two about, it s house music. so its no surprise then that they ve decided to reissue a golden 2003 deep house nugget in the form of brs (british rhythm services) spring dom. reissued from the original dat tapes spring dom is one of those timeless records that even 15 years on sounds as soulful as it did when it first hit the racks. echoed sweeping stabs, chunky drum loops and powerful synth flurries alongside those mesmerising vocal refrains, all tied together with a driving bassline - this is deep, deep goodness of the highest degree. reworking spring dom for the present day, wolf mainstay medlar provides a rave tinged remix, chopping the vocals and reworking the synth lines to give it a peak time, dancefloor demeanour. the flip houses the other two tracks from the original 03 release - clubtronic with it s ukg flavoured beat, m1 pads and jazzy free flowing melodies and miss you combining a bumping groove, dynamic bass melody and stirring rhodes chords. a much-welcomed reissue package from the wolf camp and a chance to own this house treasure without feeding the sharks.

„spectral decay” is a collection of musical reflections about the paradoxical contemporary state of humankind, whereas its own technological, social, cultural and economical development seems to entrench the possible points of a structura downfall. the narrative of „spectral decay” starts with heavy, mesmerizing industrial vibes. due to the notable sound design techniques of japanese artist tetsumasa, his hefty piece „nex” evolves into a harsh but still amazingly cinematical music sculpture. subsequent mid-tempo composition „onzour shayatini” by meer dynamically follows the dark, experimental path of drone and noisy structures. violent accents smoothly lead to the deconstruction of drum & bass patterns and turn into strident 90s metal riffs. the track progressively penetrates obscure subterranean abysses and becomes a perfect introduction to the next theme by yuji kondo – „hades”. in greek mythology hades was the ancient god of the underground kingdoms, darkness, death and metals. therefore, kondo’s music piece turns into an infernal portrayal of the underworld where tenebrous layers of bass frequencies, raw textures and drexciyan sounds build up an enormous and lasting tension. side b begins with the track „anthropocene” produced by arboretum co-founder – mogano. the whole composition refers to the present geological epoch we live in, characterized by environmental pollutions, depletion of fossil fuels and accelerated urbaniza- tion of the world. it is a deeply conceptual soundscape of a powerful system, that incorporates both – the destructive forces of technology and the infinite energy of the whole universe, that interweave in a devilish dance of post-techno, breakbeat and dub tones. thereafter, ~raw in his piece „poly bios” pictures the interference of human structures in the nature. creating a mosaic from indus- trial and tribal, organic sounds, he tells a mystical story of fear, hope, escape and primeval instincts. the narration concludes with an atmospheric composition of nwrmntc – solo project of ana quiroga from experimental ambient duet lcc. „beyond” is a boundless, spectral reflection on collective human consciousness, where haunting vocals evoke a recon- dite, ineffable pain, leaving the listeners in a profoundly meditative state. laura polan&#769,ska
