the ep drips with kezs trademark blend of deepness, kicking off with the heads down groover of *bump into the sky*. next up *eagle eye* builds around crisp 909 drums and a super tight bass line. pure classic vibes from start to finish. over on the flip *my joy* is underpinned by deep, jazzy chords and finishing off we have *spiral traffic* which takes things to a new tip entirely with an almost latin feel to the chord patterns.

brighton s ever-cultured black key label pushes on with another house connoisseur for its next release, namely the venerated scotland-based deep house producer brad peterson. opening up the ep is -monsoon- a nice and propulsive house jam that journeys through deep space with infectious drum hits and radiant synths fleshing out the rubbery groove. -sit back- is a more reflective and sombre cut, with wallowing, liquid chords draped over a ponderous, snaking bassline. the classy, cultured work continues on closer -cloud remedy- with its reverb coated hits, decisive drums and carefully spraying, ever shifting synth patterns. classic but not overly reverential of the past, it s a beautifully musical bit of deep house with gently tumbling, starry night sky melodies to die for.

kool vibes groovin ep oozes classic french house vibes form the get-go thanks to the opener no more wastin. stocato rhode stabs are met with quick-jangled percussion, cut vocals (like the french only know how) and thumping beats. underground settles down a little, maintaining a sultry groove with a chord driven hustle, while groovin is upbeat french house at its best. feel it features more juicy and looped up sample action with call and response vocals thrown in for added effect. a must have for the french house connoisseur.

“den heliga Ån” (the sacred river) is the debut album of ambient wizard and techno connoisseur aos. the album is themed around the river helge Å that runs through the town of Åhus in the southern parts of sweden. the town in which aos grew up. the music reflects both a deep love of the river and the nature that surrounds it and has a melancholic feel of a time passed by.

arkansas native, lee moore moved to memphis in 1975 with only one goal in mind: to make it big in the music industry and to release music that would be played in new york, l.a and everywhere in between. as a singer and songwriter lee moore spent the 1980s collaborating in memphis with the best of the best session musicians and vocalists from labels like volt and stax records to record and release futuristic boogie, soul, and funk. lee moore unfortunately never got close to reach his goals of fame and fortune. for the first time, past due records is reissuing lees incredible free & easy lp which was only released as a handful of test pressings in 1981 because lee thought the record was too good to release on his score records label. it is a pure memphis modern soul / boogie funk masterpiece that features countless artists from the stax crew, al greens vocalists and even herbie hancocks keyboard player. the 1981 test pressing has commanded huge sums of money on the used vinyl market and is one for the real soul connoisseur

gulf points expanding roster delivers a twist with the introduction of vienna-based alexey lanvin. men s fashion connoisseur by day, one look diarises alexey s private persona as he broods over the octaves with acutely romantic flair. his series of short online videos hint at a realm where long stares, midnight moods and south beach style are everyday fare a vision fellow pastel chief and label boss benny badge simply couldn t ignore. one look- opens this window to lanvin s electrifying world even further, his talking keyboards ready as ever to converse. alexey gets straight to the point, launching into two searing ballads full of silky rhodes and evocative textures. while an ominous inner-city funk adorns all songs, its definitely miami when the upbeat items arrive (both good love and lips could score one of crockett s fleeting love scenes in easy fashion) - suggesting his high street antics are merely a front for his downtown demeanour. ep includes: standing out, in and out of love, your eyes, good love, lips, cassette only bonus track. arranged and recorded entirely at alexey s home studio with minor alterations by benny badge at secret heat music.

next up on francis harriss newly-founded record label kingdoms comes something very special from brooklyn-based film composer, songwriter, producer and performer leah lazonick. movimenti della luna doro (movements of the moon of gold translated from italian) is a four-track ep from one of the most exciting musicians and performers around - a beautiful quartet of contemporary classical music with a twist. lazonick is something of a polymath, having composed and conducted orchestral and electronic scores for short films and commercials as well as being a classically-trained pianist. lazonick is also a connoisseur of analog synths and vintage drum machines, and will release a second ep focussing on these passions during the course of 2018. here we are treated to three luscious works for piano and string quartet, written for a one-off performance at studio off interarts, an art gallery in montreal. the piece was performed in a forest-like immersive environment, and was originally called in a forest (a piece in three movements). lazonick performed the piano parts along with a string quartet she had assembled for the performance/recording. lazonick explains: as opposed to most of the other songs/compositions i have written, i have no concrete sentimental story behind writing this piece. the motivation, inspiration and overall idea behind composing it was of a more technical nature, attempting to relay the music in my head at its purest form, without any compromises, by primarily making use of melodic and harmonic dissonances whilst still keeping the content captivating, musical and continuous.

the new year marks a time of change, fresh starts and new beginnings and 2017 will see the launch of a brand new vinyl series from 20/20 vision. up first on the series we welcome portuguese native marco rodriguez, aka photonz. he first caught our ear with his early output on cult london imprint dissident, and then went on to release with tastemaker labels crème organization & hot haus. negative cities pt.1 is filled with the deep, rich & fat analog sounds that photonz has become renowned for. whether it’s intergalactic acid bangers like astral acid, the skipping hi-hats and wonky shuffle of death drive, or the driving main room techno of somewhere i read, theres enough ammunition here to satisfy any house and techno connoisseur. negative cities pt.1 is out 13th february on 20/20 vision. limited to 300 copies.

next up for les yeux orange is a collaboration between earth trax, also known for his productions as the phantom & one half of ptaki, and newborn jr. individually or together, the polish winning duo is on hell of a hotstreak lately with some remarkable works for rhythm section, echovolt or phonica and connoisseur mixes for thump or stamp the wax. they debut on lyo with a diverse selection of four dreamy, melodic and emotional tracks both suitable for the club or for a domestic listening.

the new alone with everybody ep by drum & bass connoisseur fd firmly solidifies his earned seat in the upper echelons of the drum & bass scene. the epic nine-tracker showcases a new dimension to his sound, having already gained the trust of many essential labels in the past. serious work has been released over the course of years, producing a balanced catalogue of what fd stands for. this persistent output has grown in both reputation and depth and tells the story of a man dedicated to keeping close to his musical vision.

immanence is the inaugural release on romance born from a creative partnership between the sonic world, and it’s symbiotic visual realm.
a collaborative project, the first of a ten part series, immanence marries dub techno connoisseur zzzzra with uk photographer katelyn playford in their own artistic realisations of philosophical theories of divine presence. tasked with sound tracking immanence into four dub techno masterpieces, zzzzra’s own sensual and romantic interpretation of immanence transcends through the eyes of katelyn’s striking photography, manifesting into a visual immanent of the female aura. the resulting destination is a thought provoking piece of sensory art that implores to suggest that, much like the purity and sexuality of the female form, neither the simplicity of the visual, nor the intensity of the auditory, can exist in a world without the other.

uk funk connoisseur duke slammer takes the driving seat on the 303-fueled ‘bangkok skytrain’, with remixes from moscow based simple symmetry and returning artist tony g. inspired by tropical heat, bangkok skytrain utilises 303s, analogue drum machines and mixes in field recordings taken from an excursion to thailand. the result is a heady concoction of warm basslines and humid atmospheres, with a groove reminiscent of early 90’s melodic techno and a cheeky drum track that wouldn’t be out of place on a larry heard record. simple symmetry, the lipski brothers from moscow, slowly rebuild layers of the track like a locomotive building up momentum, and in typical style simple symmetry style finding the perfect vocal sample and pan pipes that help propels you into the foreign lands. before you know it the track is pumping at full chug! tony g’s take goes a bit further afield than the original. a dub rhythm sets the picture in outer-space. hihats stutters like cosmic dust rickashading off the nosecone of the space ship while longing strings take us deep into a distant nebular before the 303 bring the thousands of new galaxies into view. definitely music to listen to in the dark! look out for the secret dancefloor weapon ‘just drums’, an industrial drum machine workout for the freaks!

deepblaks chief connoisseur could be considered as the third leg of this mighty tripod (with aybee and afrikan sciences). originally from san diego, where he and former crew partner ikah love held a residency for 6 consecutive years every tuesday at bar dynamite, under the famed name four corners sound system. known for his polyrhythmic, organic, and soul-filled musical releases for deepblak, sound of speed, meda fury and do over records he now presents his first full-length, which further grows his afro-inflected house vibe into spiky new directions featuring the compelling vocals of khalil anthony and some assistance from afrikan sciences.

the brilliant initial outing from kerri chandler on large music gets a re-issue and sounds just as fresh and influential as it did in 1995. darker and more minimal than kerri s output at the time on labels such as king street and freetown, this four track ep set the tone and sound of large for most of the late 1990s. all four tracks feature the trademark chandler bassline, jazzed-out trippy chords, and chopped up vocals. this is a timeless classic and a must have for any serious house vinyl connoisseur.

the head of grounded theory berlin returns to sonic groove with his strongest outing on the label to date. henning baer brings forth a rough and tough diverse four cut ep of chunky rhythmatic techno. recording the songs during live jams and using a previously decided pool of hardware this ep has a nice old school vibe. the sound production however is very much in the modern day with its well crafted mix downs. this release has strong mass appeal for the purist techno connoisseur.

vermillion lands with an inter-stellar remix package. french techno connoisseur agoria leads us on a minimal, spaced out trip through shining synths and swift vocal echoes. acclaimed house maverick and hot creations head honcho jamie jones has been closing his dj sets for the last few weeks with his own remix. its bouncing, old school house tip bounding beneath bright gospel turns of phrase, approaching near classic status with arms aloft receptions on the dancefloor. and finally berlin’s deniz kurtel, who pulls her penchant for polyrhythmic percussion to the fore, casting sweet tribal grooves across an original surely destined to become a dancefloor anthem this summer.
