modugroove is a new record label by lee renacre from 100hz. started in 1989, their first release low frequency overload with optimism records entered the national music charts. lee then started a record label called format records with great tracks and reviews. lee has released with various classic record labels of the 1990 s including pacific records, oblong, rehab and eukahouse. he was included as one of several london artists who were considered to have started the tech-house scene according to mixmag september 1997. recently 100hz have been releasing music with bosconi, imprints, hi phen and logistic records. modugroove aims to release future classic music with new and known artists with a passion for the extraordinary. the first release is called modulation and is a showcase of the wonderful world of analogue modulating synthesis. stealthy and deep these tracks include a new collaboration group called junction chaos who improvise new music.

severence is an electronic sound artist who lives in spain. mensch 003 experiments with various forms of chaotic sound & signal generation to create dense chaotic sound fields and other more relaxed ambient soundscapes. all tracks were recorded live in one take using a eurorack modular synth, a mixing desk and various effects pedals (no overdubs or post processing in the computer).

the return of faetch - four tracks of real 2016 techno earwiggle is the irish techno label from sunil sharpe following the earth-shifting faetch 1, which was played by practically every techno dj worth their salt, tibetan entity faetch returns for the next part in the ongoing saga. sturdy, rolling drums and fiery vocal bursts on jeidge signal early chaos on the a-side, moving onto the pure techno funk of wershif - a definite ear wiggler if ever we heard one. on the b-side faecel is tense, more heads-down fare, not at all dissimilar to cari lekebusch s classic early drumcode material. closing the ep is cargoe , where jittery broken rhythms ricochet off rave stabs and echoed vocals & sound fx. another crucial faetch four-tracker here, for fans of inventive dancefloor techno.

mike witcombe joins the kindisch family, bringing along a delicate sound for a fantastic journey with his delomi ep. the title track charms both the body and the soul, with an elegantly simple track unleashing a sea of warmth with beautiful chord-work and a steady stream of organic percussion. taking the torch further, almond dives a bit deeper, and travels a bit further, hypnotizing us into the night. acid meets house meets after-hour meets pure and warm intentions to create an intricate and almost spiritual experience. next, mike witcombe and felix warmuth balance chaos and control with islagrande, representing the symbiosis between artist and machine, opening doors to realms rarely seen and inviting all to join the experience.

ketev is the realm in which berlin based sound artist yair elazar glotman employs his unique ambient technoid soundscapes to explore the balance between darkness and light, fragility and strength, and tension and release. ‘traces of weakness’ follows up the solo contrabass lp ‘Études’ for subtext records, and continues to expand on the themes explored on previous ketev albums for where to now? and opal tapes. ‘traces of weakness’ was recorded at ems stockholm using their buchla modular synth, and processed with reel-to-reel tape manipulations including personal archived field recordings. the sleeve photography comes courtesy of yair’s father, the artist yehoshua shuka glotman.
