the tracks from the recently released full length of nublu orchestra beg for remixes, and the underground resistance militiamen take up the task for sketches of nyc. the i 80 mix is a big thumper, using a scatted vocal line and dissonant horn hits from the original to add drama to the build of an acid bassline and some tastefully tribal drums. the seventh tunnel mix falls squarely in the tech jazz genre that was essentially invented by the detroit collective. the original elements of sketches are used generously, with what seems like a grace note on the upright being turned into a looped bassline, over which the lead vocals and saxophone ping back and forth. must have!!

finally we manage to get a new ep from the man carl falk. he was the first on the label with the great hz-1 and hz-3-eps that we repressed all the time. you know what to expect and this is no exception, full on tribal-party-techno all the way. the first track is with a little acid twist. the rest is just full-on massive grooves!

igor tchkotoua and dan duncan are true workaholics. not only are the two mallorquinos forming one of the most exciting techno duos of our time and play in the most famous clubs worldwide, they always make it to pop up in the studio to work on their releases on sonic society, wig records or like in the case of >deliverance<, the new 12inch on cocoon. >deliverance< starts quite cautious but the track becomes more and more complex – pig & dan give the dj a tool that fits the minimal raver like a custom-made suit. the b side is again one of those tracks that put a smile on your face. in >sly detector<, atmospheric techno sound unites with energetic celebration pleasure, just as we know it from tracks like >after ibiza< or >on to the beat<. the rolling hookline which has the necessary splash of acid is, together with the floating trance layer, adrenalising to such extent that nothing else remains to be done but to raise your hands in the air. the track was already a hit with many djs in 2007, and will be one – chosen in the right moment – on many dancefloors in 2008, too

earlier this year, todd sines inaugurated yore with the slamming techno-funk of the .xtrak release back_up ep and now returns for round two with dont stop. without losing the stripped-down, minimal tech-house funk essence of the .xtrak sound, sines ups the acid-house ante considerably in the new material. the old-school title cut makes an immediately vivid impression by repeating the insistent vocal hook >dont stop<-both command and mantra-over a towering backbeat. >cut to the chase< does exactly that with funky handclaps and syncopated swing, while the b-sides low-riding >unreflect< pairs dropouts and bass-crawling boogie. slightly different in character, the squiggly acid-techno track >quantum mechanics< is as precision-tooled as its title suggests. despite the subtle shift in stylistic emphasis, dont stop offers a splendid complement to the earlier release

a long forgotten and previously unheard acid opus from head studios friend and chicago legend armando gallop. an improvised, one take afterparty session from 1988, featuring sharvette. resurrected by thomos, re animated by the amazing johnny fiasco.

the original track is a fusion between bips, bleeps, aggresive drums and acid basslines – among all this is an absolutely beautiful synth theme that is the key element of the track. yousef delivers the remix thats a raw thing using the syntherzeiser riff from the original and giving it an even more raw sound.
