phonica records limited offshoot returns with a second 12 inch from the man that kickstarted the label iori. the okinawan producer, whose >galaxy / urge< 12 inch won praise from across the board, has been working prolifically and this is only a brief glimpse of things to come. first up is >spatiotemporal< - a ten and a half techno odyssey towards the deeper echelons of the genre. starting off as a simple drum attern, >spatiotemporal< slowly but steadily builds up, with iori bringing layer after layer of synths proper mid-paced cosmic techno!! its definitely one of those tracks that need to be left to do their work preferably on a loud soundsystem! on the flip, weve secured the remix talents of one of the hottest names in techno at the moment. all the way from cold sweden, skudge have made quite a name for themselves in the last year, with solid releases on their own imprint. their remix of >grit< more than exceeded our expectations. its a masterpiece of stripped down techno that brings to the fore all the parts we like from the original, while taking it in a completely different direction. special artwork by pedro carvalho de almeida.
japanese based, dry-witted, multi-instrumentalist, max essa, docks his yacht to the good ship bearfunk once more. this time its the title track from his soon-come lp >white shoes blue dreams<. the original morphs things on from his pundit-pleasing beach and summer grooves onto an 80s tilt. the original mix is full of slick grooves and melodic musicality. maxs own >marbella< mix discos things up with a catchy keyboard riff that makes one think of a certain van mccoy, floor-filling stuff. fellow bearfunk sailor, roberto auser, is up for remix duties. his angular dutch grooves strip things back and make things refreshing and cool like he does with just about everything he touches. stay tuned for the second max essa album on bearfunk in the autumn.
up & coming quality deep house label from erfurt! hype! the first 10 inch in the catalogue of playtracks. and this one is going to be really great. jazzmoon comes around with two tracks a friend describes as a journey through the jungle. already on the desks of move d and matthias kaden this is what real junglejazz from the moon sounds like, isnt it?.
night slugs announce the latest installment in their white label series - the much-anticipated debut 12 inch of london producer jam city. on the a side, the psychedelic grime interplorer ecstasy refix glows with warmth at its analog core. a jubilant tribute to the art of the grime refix, the track simultaneously recalls two disparate by-gone eras, to devastating effect. on the b side, night slugs favourite >let me bang refix< drowns a gutter house classic in sheer beams of searing fluorescent synth. jam city borrows a vintage wiley meme on closing track >shut the lights off (devil mix)<, all but void of a drum kit it hangs in suspension, awash in sublime synths. this ep is available only on limited vinyl.

super limited stamped pre-release!! rush hour presents a new series of releases entitled -voyage direct-. this series is about all about feel good club music and is curated by tom trago. hence the name voyage direct, which was also the title of his debut double ep. dexter kicks off this series in a classy style with his junofest ep. this is easily his best work since his genre breaking electrofunk hit -i dont care- from 2000. and now its time for -junofest ep-. the title track is a steady, yet smooth club groove with enough wsing to make anyone dance to the music. a true party starter. on the aa side we find -not the only one-, an infectious vocoder vocal track that makes you smile. this is one of those rare tracks that has a poppy, commercial feel without losing its underground raw appeal. it could just be his biggest track since -i dont care-
don froths >10.000cc / holiday (dubbed out)< is phonica whites sophomore release and it couldnt be any more different to ioris stripped down dub techno. don froth initially appeared on our radar last year with >foam< û a laidback, dubby disco number that effortlessly got us all in summer mood, practically teleporting us to his native venice ca. forget about such nicetiesà >10.000cc s< is >foams< rowdy sibling. a twisted, bass-heavy stomper of a track, that takes disco, dub-step and punk-funk, spins them in blender and spits out one of the rudest basslines weÆve heard in a while. weare talking big here û even giles peterson is a fan. on the flip >holiday (dubbed out)< returns to more familiar territoryà laidback, dubby disco that instantly brings to mind >foam< without being a carbon copy. its breezy, summery and very organic in an analog sort of way. very limited vinyl pressing of 300 copies û hand stamped and numbered. special artwork by pedro carvalho de almeida
the mole has been burrowing tunnels in electronic music circles for many years. based in montreal, he became known through releases on matthew jonsons wagon repair, collaborations with the label head and a consequential solo album for them. he performs with 5 turntables no less and appeals as much to the lovers of disco as to lo-fi electronica all the way to straight edged house heads and non-conformist jazz lovers.
satore is a new talent discovered thanks to his previous releases on labels like minuendo and instabil recordings. a genuine 21st century producer focused on european deep house sounds with an american flavor. in his first release for avantroots he delivers 4 delicate and crystalline tracks, perfect for the coolest dance floors. pablo bolivar remixes >followed by time<, creating a solid track with a sophisticated groove. a good package for different moments and different tastes.
aeroplane, the remixers du jour and one of the most blogged and talked about acts in recent times, have been putting the finishing touches on their eagerly anticipated debut lp set for release on sept 6th through eskimo.
aeroplane undertook the 500th >essential mix< at the end of april on radio 1 and previewed the title track of their forthcoming longplayer and first single >we cant fly< for the first time.
having built a cult following off the back off their now legendary soundcloud mixes and stunningly original remixes for the likes of grace jones, friendly fires, lindström and mgmt, their debut album is set to cement their status as one of the most innovative and exciting new acts of 2010.

on his first release, >muskelminne ep<, gunnar delivers an indian summer love song, >massagerutin 1<, some deep and glistering morning music with the track >morgonanga< and ends with the raw but perfect bonus beat, >lilla huset pa prärien<. or as gunnar jonsson puts it: >i just want to have a good time with music, no steroids, no tricks, just some soft grooves and some hardware fun. i love older electronic instruments, the way they look and sound makes me feel good inside and gets me going.< eat healthy and ride a bike between the studio sessions that is gunnar jonssons vibe. it is our wish that this ep will end many summer night dance floors.
here comes edwards follow-up ep. this time he goes a slightly deeper and more direct. it might be the purest music we ve ever heard from the berlin-based producer. all the crazy clubgigs are manifested into hi music now. of course still with the classical edward style somewhere between dark minimal and trancy deephouse aesthetics. >bush of crows< is somewhat of a siginature edward track. but a very rough one this time. with a comfortable paranoia, this track unfolds itself into a little peak time extravaganza. on the flip, he cools everything down with a warm house tune called >the ghetto< and he adds a certain >blockparty romantic< to it... b2. is once again one of those more minimal edward tracks were he masters to be on point with just the core essence o sounds. edward remains a real romantic for sure...
first on decks.de !! redjowak is a minimalistic masterpiece which comes with a floor-friendly bassline, accompanied by discreetly placed sound effects. the berlin based duo savours their musical ability by being rich in contrast, classy and with authentic understatement. a superb track for spring-fever nights! incl. canson remix. melodie in e-moll appears warm and hearty due to its mystical groove and the rich use of bell- and piano sound-effects. intelligent shifting of rhythmic patterns keep the tension flowing while maintaining this tracks dreaminess. incl. diffus remix

great stuff, kling klong, mutekki, blufin, my best friend oliver klein had them all. now he teams up with kolombo (turbo, blufin, giant wheel) to bring a real smasher down to the floors. techhouse at its best ... completed by 3 nice remixes. stand up and dance!
supported by: nick curly, anja schneider, samuel l session, steve bug, will saul, milton jackson.. after releases from drei farben house and paulo olarte, polytone is joined by matthias vogt. being a member of motorcitysoul (together with frankfurts house legend crock), matthias vogt has been teaching lessons in deepness for years now. in his solo works vogts profound education as a jazz musician is just as present. thus, >together as one< is carried by wonderfully deep chords, which are accentuated by a contrapuntal bassline. a classic male vocal highlights the soulfulness even more and turns this track into a marvellous deephouse affair.
bron, a mysterious giant from the plains of canadas sub arctic region, comes out of nowhere with danksouls second release great white north. brons debut record is a truly northern take on the infectious grooves of micro house. the title track, great white north, is a jacked-up home grown classic that has been garnering a cult-like following in canada since its inception a couple years back. french avant-garde house producer le k provides a heavy handed remix, which will surely occupy a permanent space in record boxes and play lists across the globe. bron polishes off this ep with the bouncy beats and bass of splash back, followed by the soulful space hop of postcards from the prairies
