this is how it started focuses heavily on the early days of the chicago sound, especially in the formative years at ron hardy s music box.
following chicago s disco demolition night in 1979 the genre s popularity fell dramatically, hence fewer disco records being released.in this era chicago s djs such as hot mix 5, hardy, knuckles & jesse saunders played a variety of styles mixing in italo, electronic pop music, electro-funk and older disco joints often playing their own edits which focusing on the portions of the songs which always rocked the dancefloor. at the end of 1982, when dj frankie knuckles left the warehouse to open the power plant, ron hardy started to dj at the warehouse s new location until owner robert williams renamed it the music box. in 1984, a local label released a 12-inch single called -on and on- by locals jesse saunders & vince lawrence who had simple made the song in order to replace a record which had been stolen from saunders collection, the -on & on- bootleg disco megamix by mach. hence chicago house music was born and a modern day phenomenon followed.

rekord 61s first release of 2015 is the strident *sverh* on his own konstruktiv imprint, backed with 3 remixes from radio slave.
radio slaves f.y.n remix 1 draws on the essence of daniel bell, combining a sparse drum track with occasional *sverh* vocal while f.y.n remix 2 kills the kicks completely and favours saturated bleeps and ominous atmospherics. f.y.n remix 3 continues the distorted motif but pairs it with pin sharp and powerful drums. a release that is sure to be deployed in multiple variants due to its jigsaw-like aesthetics.

radio bands radio rap the one and only single by a group of djs from the radio fantasy pirate station has long been an in-demand gem with italo-disco diggers and balearic heads alike. with original copies both hard to find and expensive (currently hovering around the l60 mark online), it s great to see archeo recordings giving the 1984 cut a much-needed reissue on heavyweight vinyl. the quirky vocal version a loose and funky disco-rap record with additional boogie synths and all italian vocals is accompanied by the superb instrumental version, which perfectly showcases danilo ciarchi s superb production.

tian gjevik (eod,cn), passionate and curious about electronic music, found in a trondheim thrift store a tape of the norwegian legendary project : the educational music -sports/tools-. he contacted one of the two composers called dildrian schrodinger. he has managed to negociate with him a deal for a vinyl license with weme records. we can find in this project ordered by the norwegian state all an experimentation work with electronic machines from the 1980 s. it is sometimes accompanied by a clumsy singing quite modern at that time.
