a modern boogie 7 inch on unirhythm!? yep, you heard right! marcellus pittman graces the a-side of the disc on *1044 coplin* - a nice slice of mid west funk sure to appeal to all the boogie heads worldwide. on the flip we have the unirhythm debut from detroits own john cannon. john c is a veteran producer and mc, most recently featured on the j dilla album *rebirth of detroit*. no suprise there - we definitely hear some dilla on *j.c.s groove*. essential!

machinefunk veteran eduardo de la calle is bound to make his planet rhythm debut with a 4-track analog synth laden voyage into the the more hypnotizing side of electronic music.

step into the rabbit hole and we ll take you on a journey from romania to japan, featuring some of the finest producers from both worlds. first track is from the well known duo livio & roby, who also deliverd a stunning remix on our second release. they share the romanian side with cally, who needs little introduction because of his beatiful releases on fear of flying, neostrictly or broquade. on the flip side we have yudai tamura, a very talented japanese newcomer and yoshitaca, already a veteran dj and producer in his home country.

a kaleidoscope of rainbow textures and rhythms disperse into the exotic soundscape of *tropical*. electronics, real folk instruments and noise-making objects feature here generously on this six-track concept album, blending together a sonic palette influenced by a rich variety of music, people and places. the material was initially written over the course of a few months during what seneviratne called *a beautiful burst of inspiration*. working with veteran producer asier leatxe ibanez d opakoa (electric lady studios, nyc), seneviratne then set about disassembling all the songs and re-working them meticulously, enriching the sounds by adding a huge range of live instrumentation, before processing the audio through vintage analogue studio gear. the vinyl lp comes with download code.

here s something to stir the loins of any discerning disco dj: a studio hook-up between veteran producer felix dickinson (fresh from his much-loved outing on futureboogie recordings), horse meat disco and one-time dfa man (and renowned multi-instrumentalist) marcus marr. there s an additional contributor, too: a mystery (presumably big-name) vocalist whose talk-box heavy delivery sits somewhere between prince, george clinton and pharrell. the track itself is something of a summer anthem in the making - an immaculately produced p-funk jam with the additional benefit of a shuffling, house-friendly groove. no details on how many copies have been pressed, either way, you d be well advised to snap up a copy while you still can.

orphx the veteran industrial-techno super duo strike again with their latest ep on sonic groove entitled sacrifice. filled to the brim with pulsing modular sound design and industrialized techno rhythms. orphx once again shine bright in a sound of darkness. highly recommended for those who like their techno and industrial tough but yet hypnotic.

in what is a momentous occasion for soma records, we hit the milestone 400th release of the label and who better to see this in than label heads slam as they lead up to their new album due to drop this october. soma are proud to present the double a sided rotary/catacoustics. slam have been locked away in the studio these past months working hard on their latest album which sees them look to past machines and new technologies to form the base of this new album. these album sessions have spawned two raucous tracks that state where the veteran producers are with their sound. these tracks have the dance floor firmly in mind and display the years of experience slam have in knowing what exactly will whip up a storm.

d3 recordings offshoot d3 elements is only three releases deep, but already their releases are reaching must-check status. following their recent release of a superb ep from us deep house veteran brian harden, the paris-based imprint offers up something a little different - an ep of gorgeously deep and melodic flavours that joins the dots between head-nodding instrumental hip-hop and floor-friendly 4/4 fare. there are plenty of surprises, too, including techno stalwart terrence parker delivering a flute-heavy downtempo head-nodder, some gorgeous beatdown from detroiter mike clark, and a thrillingly string-laden chunk of deep house bliss from the aforementioned harden.

rude 66 does not need an introduction... this dutch acid and electro veteran has been around for a long time. being part of the old school acid scene from the hague with releases on legendary label acid planet and he is one of the originals (again) when it comes to the new wave of electro in the late 1990s. two vocals tracks on the a-side with beta evers and sololust appearing as partners in crime, and on the b-side two instrumental almost trance like tracks. this is were electro, acid and a touch of old school gothic come together!

considering the combined talents of detroit veteran terrence dixon and black jazz consortium man fred p, you d expect this split ep for finale sessions to be a lesson in warm, soul-flecked depth. pleasingly, that s exactly what it delivers. dixon excels with the sub-sporting alien futurism of -to the bridge- - the aural equivalent of staring into space while dancing to electronic jazz - and the sumptuous, minor key bliss of the casual deep house jam -starting over-. fred p, meanwhile, delivers two contrasting cuts. there s some acid-fuelled deep house futurism in the shape of -circuit-, and a chunk of bongo-laden dancefloor humidity in -the road-, whose rising strings and sweet melodies are arguably the highlight of a superb ep.
