exactly two years after his first sirion release we proudly present mastras second 12 inch titled >out of nowhere<. this time around in collaboration with his buddy jon donson, who also released his first ep on sirion in spring 2010. the mood and structure of this latest coup entirely reflects the familiar yet different of the bernese natives mastra & jon donson. for the first time in form of an exciting fusion of individuals signed by both distinct handwritings. >out of nowhere< is a deep and, owing to a impulsive bass drum, repetitive deep house track. this impression is given through a state of mind clearly offside of a classic course. nevertheless its bits and pieces remain stuck and arent easily banished. pablo bolivar is known for his large spectrum of high quality compositions. upholding that standard he delights with yet another impressive interpretation. the subtly chosen synth revive the base of the original track - an impulsive remix of vast variety.

after a handful of smashing remixes and compilation features on nang records, lusty zanzibar returns to the fold with a cracking solo effort named the >the feeling ep.< title track is a spaced out exercise in immersive square-wave programming, reminiscent of the pre-internet computer gaming age when colours were 8-bit and vivid, and soundtracks were hyper-colour opuses. the complex synth work is underpinned by a driving beat with ethereal vocal wisps and crystalline pads. nice. the first of three remixes for >the feeling< comes from ilya santana, with his >celestial version<, and celestial it is indeed! a picturesque scene is set, the rhythm is wound back and a super laid back vibe allows the vocal line >remember how you are feeling< to sit more purposefully in the mix, alongside the tip-toeing bass line and often euphoric chords. up next comes the max essa dub version, introducing some arp-synth subtleties, replacing the main vocal hook to great effect. to finish we have a mix from fear of theydon who brings a touch of arpeggiated femininity and tasteful woodblock percussion to the table. its a fulfilling yet sultry up-beat journey.

while yacht refers to >dystopia (the earth is on fire)< as a post-apocalyptic fight song and a cautionary tale, the tracks chant-along melodies and unsparing synths nudge listeners far closer to dance than despair. from the sound of things, that reaction will likely also be elicited by two new remixes of the portland duos song, from their 2011 long player shangri-la. legendary production duo justin strauss and bryan mette, aka whatever/whatever, completely rework the sound of >dystopia< on their version, reorienting it with heavy doses of funk. while the original rides atop buzzing synths, the whatever/whatever remix adds a thick bassline and shimmery keyboards that leap out like solar flares. on the flipside, uk-based emperor machine starts their dystopia remix with a dubby feel – every vocal echoing endlessly – and then u-turns into wholly a updated, yet classic, disco sound. the rhythms are sultry, slinking behind a deep, repeated, synthline, its a recipe for an unexpectedly smooth, subtly hypnotic, and utterly danceworthy song.

first of three parts of the first wurst compilation with 10 new exclusive tracks alltogether. part i boasts new york upstarts soho808, lisbon legend tiago, merc alum chicago damn, and new jersey outliers pink stallone. following appearances on soul claps social experiment 002 mix on no. 19 and jamie jones fabric 59 mix, soho808 land on wurst with >reach< feat. safiyah, easily their most accomplished work to date, fusing their now-patented slow house sound with a little of the citys r&b swagger. pink stallone hooks up with strictly rhythm alum joey washington on >help yourself<, a ridiculously nasty slice of future funk. tiago gives >peanuts not working< his i am the automan treatment, channeling the 80s cosmic sound for a driving dancefloor workout. rounding out the ep is chicago damns >romcom<, a smoky, subdued number, hinting at detroits beatdown sound with the mans now signature mpc moves.
