30 year old inland aka ed davenport is an englishman currently residing in berlin. his release history dates back to 2006 with a steady output of house and techno and he spawned his inland alias in 2012, kicking off his own counterchange imprint with the solstice ep. he also co-manages the infrastructure label alongside function, the pair having produced the odeon/rhyl ep together as function/inland for the label s comeback release after a 9 year hiatus. talking about his ep for nonplus he explains

the second release on modern cathedrals includes an original mix by altstadt echo supplemented with remixes crafted by donor, luigi tozzi, and asop. the inclusion of donor’s remix represents a continued effort to link together the detroit and brooklyn scenes, while the luigi tozzi remix connects modern cathedrals to the ghastly, dark styles of techno that italian artists have become so respected for. as a core member of the modern cathedrals team and a primary force behind the label’s event series, asop’s remix is the very first public release of work by this incredible new detroit-based artist. but while the artist names change from record to record, the philosophy does not. we continue in a desperate attempt to generate meaning during the short spasm of a lifetime we are given in a world that seems to conspire to prevent this effort’s realization. this situation might be inescapable, but through the rejection of complacency and dogma, we can approach our end with the bitter comfort that we were at least willing to be honest about our situation.

after landing his malfunctioning px-4000 on the purple planet, captain dmx steps out of the smoldering cockpit. after barely setting foot on the dusty landscape, the captain is startled by deep thudding from over the hills. dragging his oxygen pack with one hand and his atomizer with the other, he sets off in search of the other-wordly din. over the hill his pupils adjust to the stroboscopic lightning and below him lies a sea of strange creatures moving together as one body. a cosmic sermon takes place under the three suns in the sky, mechanical and stuttered frequencies set a manic pace and drive the dark creatures back and forth. captain dmx sighs a heavy breath and starts to descend into the fray.

seth troxler and the martinez brothers’ tuskegee music continues to deliver the goods behind releases from kool d, ex-trouw resident william kouam djoko and seth himself. now on their 6th release, tuskegee present a new collaborative effort between the martinez brothers, jesse calosso and phil moffa who - operating under their new production alias soundview, piece together a tribute to rob fernandez.

chapter edits is the brainchild of scott gray aka chapter (artist and dj) and corbi (producer, dj and a&r at fina records) with the aim being to bring art and music together by releasing disco-funk re-edits in limited edition chapter art sleeves. based in ibiza, they will be collaborating with guest djs and producers from with each new release as well as hosting their own parties under the name melon bomb at various venues across the island.

a new re- issue is coming from merv! two old and lost tracks from merv from 95 and 98 are coming in a new re- issue! while deepchord in america, or the thule- crew from island have been inspired from the basic channel blueprint sound coming from berlin, tempted a small group of artists their own interpretation! the new and sounding like a manifestation from basic channel-sinewy, full of energy, strongly cauterized in mind, wanted to get rediscoverd! in the year 1995, arose * melted vein*! hypnotized, slowly but full of strength it became back to the theme. merv educed their own variation- their own soul. you can hear it by the track dust-, from 1998 the further development! pads and melodies, from different galaxys, mixed with ascending chords, kept together with the 909. two tracks, two epic tracks- the pure merv- magic! both of them have been re-masterd at the traditionally berlin mastering studios d&m!

i first heard of julixo when i put my hands on his fantastic ep called silas released on rauh 005. after that, i kept a close eye on the sounds he was posting, and when i heard rebho, i knew we were going to do something together. the warm synth line, together with the jackin drum patterns, were perfect. then came reflections, which fitted superbly with rebho. although slower, and maybe more introspective, you still have that warm feeling going through the track. we decided to go with life of crime on the other side of the record. much more aggressive in its construction, that track deserved a side on its own: modern techno at its best. i hope you will enjoy this nice versatile release as much as i do! best regards, philippe petit

high mobility weapons unit sets off from an unknown location on earth, making its maiden voyage beyond our solar system and towards a distant galaxy. the transverse velocity ep is the debut release on the self-titled imprint, serving up four original tracks that are heavily influenced by mechanical cycles and deep space concepts. the a-side kicks off with the eps title track transverse velocity, where an array of eroded satellite bleeps and waves loop together as the analogue low-end pulsates rhythmically below. in wave 102 the bleeps are detuned and erratically timed, with a glitchy tape delay unit modulating them throughout the track. the saturated 808 kick drum and processed percussion are given a functional structure, allowing the bleeps to take centre stage. on the b-side, both cycle 01 and astronomy tool serve as stripped-back percussive dj tools. cycle 01 rolls along with its hollow, muted polyrhythmic stab line, whilst astronomy tool drives forward with an effective, crystalline synth hit. mastered by black monolith studios.

michigan native dj soko is part of a long line of great technical djs, musical innovators, curators and those who broke key artists and introduced acts that forever changed the landscape of the music scene. sokos ear and ability to put emcees in position for them to shine over the perfect production is never more evident than it is on his debut project released on his imprint left of center. dj soko uses his years coming up in the detroit scene, his experiences djing in his current home (the planet of brooklyn, ny) then blends both of those worlds together seamlessly. the end result is a gritty, boom bap rap album that is equally as soulful and introspective as it is rooted in a blue collar lyrical hip-hop aesthetic. *domino effect* is ultimately brought together by sokos deft cuts and scratches which elevate each composition and make them resonate with listeners even further.

on the second vinyl of shaded music we have a split release by calli and pagalve. deep and hypnotic techno with refined layers of soundscapes and powerful kickdrum together well crafted percussion opens the vinyl on a side as a *railroad* by calli. a2 is a pounding detroitish remix of pagalves track *acidized* with slovakian techno legend loktibrada on duty. previously released tons of vinyl records on respected labels as tresor, planet rhythm, numb, olga+jozef or palicavonzvreca - loktibrada delivers his first appearance on vinyl since 2011. on other side of the record - 2 tracks by pagalve. *stories* is an addictive piece of music with spacey taste of tb-303 while *reverse 4* is a slamming atmospheric techno track for a prime time dancefloor shaking. from oslo, vilnius and bratislava with love!

it grabs you and turns you round. resistance is futile. fall into it gleefully because the darkness has been lit, there is a chill in the air and you feel as taut as a bow. laurent pastor and marc lapeyre (fkclub) are responsible for decadanse where ice doesnt hurt anymore according to the whisper in the title track. the label head was convinced by his partner to start production in a basement studio to create a sound using guitars and synthesisers. the coming together of these 2 strong (id)entities has culminated in an ep which is cinematic (train in vein, easy drive), distinguished post-punk (plan b) and electronic (decadanse). and when susuma makai ventures into the meandering ruin, he delivers a mind-blowing version.

i got to know gavin russoms music thanks to the amazing the days of mars album he recorded together with delia gonzalez now ten years ago on dfa records. flash forward to last year, when we released michele mininnis trippy endless ceremony. gavin russom loved that one and sent over a demo shortly after - youre listening to it now. i am really proud to be able to release an ep from such an extraordinary artist, enjoy! 1st pressing on splattered 12!
