in 1985 severed heads were asked to release a retrospective, so they dragged out bits lying around. the compilation was titled “clifford darling please don’t live in the past”, spread out into a montage over four sides of vinyl. this compilation includes live recordings, raw demos, unreleased studio recordings and solo pieces from each member of the band during from the first five years. the results are a striking hybrid of the avant-garde industrial and pop.

by now, we ve come accustomed to tabernacle records exploring the outer reaches of detroit-influenced techno, electro and ambient. even so, their latest outing from regular contributor jeremiah r is something special. beginning with the floatation tank-in-space ambience of chorus, calisto sees the producer laying down a whopping eight cuts that variously touch in drexciyan electro, artificial intelligence-era idm, and hard-to-define hybrids that confirm the intergalactic potential of electronic music. interestingly, the music is roughly equally split between horizontally inclined, beat-less explorations, surging dancefloor workouts, and the kind of mid 90s home listening fodder that sits somewhere in between.

close to the days of the days, when the maya calendar will come to an end and somthing special is waiting for human beeing, two smart fellas from berlin are contrebuting this happening with the so called popocatepetl ep. popocatepetl is a yet sleeping massive vulcano in mexico, who just recently rumbled to life. it looks like this ep will come up with the same energy and power. four tracks with many statements and diversity and still homogeneous in their substance. to find an own style and esspecialy an own sound is what the two try to push to the fore. if we compare this release to their last successful released track on tonkind schmalwild, we hear this major line, where a transperent empathy is to find. kotelett & zadak, showing on this ep their ability to creat dance music with a certain flow and groove which makes you feel aloof and hot but still laid-back and relaxed. it just shows their own temper and shows us why, this two guys are one of the most beloved djs in berlins underground scene. its their personal spirit what comes up in the music, that makes this release sound so authentic. hopefully people will notice, yet even without any dramatic fireworks, popo has the power to wreak havoc.

french producer juliano delivers the next ep, entitled * this must be...*, on his own imprint * that place records*. fourth in line on the label, following on from releases from visitors for reworks, mzkbx (aka sacha mambo) and love comedy, the now berlin-based artist gifts his very first ep to the collection. as a dj, juliano has spent the last 13 years honing his craft - first cutting his teeth holding down a residency at l ambassade, and then going on to play all over france and throughout europe. over a decade of digging and spinning has led juliano to develop a refined palette and a knack for finding tunes that make the dance floor bounce. strongly influenced by us house, * panaugust* is a real dance floor killer with its never ending synth. the more emotional * anthem for a friend* is a real tribute, drawing inspiration from chicago and detroit such as the real mess with its special rhythm & blues vibe. finally, cupid mess brings a touch of japanese mood, evoking images of an early-morning rising sun thanks to the classic juno6 sound. julianos ethos is that music should stay fun - preferring to keep things simple, but always real. watch out for this one.

goldmin music label founder romain lanteaume alias einka meets detroit minimalism master terrence dixon aka population one for a truly conceptual techno 12-.. terrence dixon is one of our favorite artists and biggest inspiration.. detroitborn artist released his first 12- back in 1994 followed by several quintessential records and 2 epic albums -from the far future- on legendary berlin-based label tresor. terrence is not only a great techno producer who makes subwoofers roar in clubs, he is a man obsessed by a concept, an idea that he s following from the very beginning.. -minimalism- in the reaaaaal sense of the word.. for example, when thousands producers are wondering what s eventually missing in their new track, terrence is rather wondering what s useless, what could be removed and that s definitely what he gets to share on his own -reduction- imprint. after the release of terrence s track -steve austin s mile- on goldmin theme lp, romain got to meet him in detroit during summer 2014. the aim was to make an abstract record that could still be linked to a feeling or a situation.. a1 the edge track is probably a good example as it s designed and built to make you feel like you get closer and closer to the edge while the track is slowly growing until you fall.. can you feel it? :) as for the other tracks, there is also a special idea behind them but we better let you interpret it your way
