constant sound founders jon woodall and burnski helm the label s latest 12inch under their constant name, with dub life featuring remixes from blackhall & bookless, s.a.m and a scott. dub life is a slithering, slippery and frictionless house roller with tunnelling percussive patterns, restless drums and myriad synth smears that really pull you down into a seductive groove. subtle vocals add character and ensure this one will keep floors locked for days. jaunt pair blackhall & bookless then step up with a fired up, peak time techno leaning bomb with barrelling kicks, ravey stabs and detroit referencing pads that really grab your attention. the s.a.m. reshape then offers up elastic, spaced out deep house vibes with airy hi hats, lots of height in the drums and plenty of feeling in the slithering synth lines that lace up the track. closing out the package is a remix from returning label artist a scott, whose fine remix is a lovably flabby and cavernous track with oodles of reverb, rattling train track like grooves and atmospheric pads that swirl all around you as you drift in his air beats.

by now, we ve come accustomed to tabernacle records exploring the outer reaches of detroit-influenced techno, electro and ambient. even so, their latest outing from regular contributor jeremiah r is something special. beginning with the floatation tank-in-space ambience of chorus, calisto sees the producer laying down a whopping eight cuts that variously touch in drexciyan electro, artificial intelligence-era idm, and hard-to-define hybrids that confirm the intergalactic potential of electronic music. interestingly, the music is roughly equally split between horizontally inclined, beat-less explorations, surging dancefloor workouts, and the kind of mid 90s home listening fodder that sits somewhere in between.

french producer juliano delivers the next ep, entitled * this must be...*, on his own imprint * that place records*. fourth in line on the label, following on from releases from visitors for reworks, mzkbx (aka sacha mambo) and love comedy, the now berlin-based artist gifts his very first ep to the collection. as a dj, juliano has spent the last 13 years honing his craft - first cutting his teeth holding down a residency at l ambassade, and then going on to play all over france and throughout europe. over a decade of digging and spinning has led juliano to develop a refined palette and a knack for finding tunes that make the dance floor bounce. strongly influenced by us house, * panaugust* is a real dance floor killer with its never ending synth. the more emotional * anthem for a friend* is a real tribute, drawing inspiration from chicago and detroit such as the real mess with its special rhythm & blues vibe. finally, cupid mess brings a touch of japanese mood, evoking images of an early-morning rising sun thanks to the classic juno6 sound. julianos ethos is that music should stay fun - preferring to keep things simple, but always real. watch out for this one.

having recently played an eight hour set to a sold-out crowd at london’s oval space, the prolific dusky drop a trio of moody club tool tracks on 17 steps as they continue their european autumn/winter tour. a club tool in the most effective sense, lead track ’lydia’ is dark, nagging acid groover that builds and builds throughout its 6 hypnotic minutes. with all the melodic material based around the lydian scale, ‘lydia’ was originally inspired by a bizarre, trippy dream alfie had in which everything was all based on the lydian scale. a homage to classic techno, ‘bitter lake’ is a hard-hitting surge of looping, percussive energy and detroit-nodding rave stabs that build to a hoover-fuelled breakdown release. rounding off the trio, the brilliantly titled and uniquely composed ‘infinite libido’ again explores dusky’s more percussive tendencies and has been a regular feature in their dj sets for the past year.

the * dance session band project* started for the session with the dance duo symbol-ism who represents yoyogi, tokyo known as the base of yygrec. the band is composed by three members. daisuke fujiwara (sax), well versed in detroit techno, got attention when he was playing in his original band “phat”, which sublimated the improvisation style of techno and jazz in 90’s. after that he has played with jeff mills and also with underground resistance. masatsugu hattori (drums) who has been playing across the genre, has appeared on the fighting-style music event boycott rhythm machine versus live. he has also played and gone on a duo tour with mc sibitt from a hiphop crew origami. keigo iwanami (bass) is playing in a club jazz band sleepwalker, a punk band midori, oncenth trio, zycos and more. he keeps playing in various fields of music like jazz, pop, punk, improvisation music etc. in this project, they creates “physical” dance session music inspired by symbol-ism, and reflects their each musical backgrounds of jazz, techno, house, hiphop, punk, improvisation and so on.
