sixth avenue express have been gathering a lot of momentum recently with their mid tempo, emotionally charged productions striking a note with a larger and larger audience. while they have put out releases across a plethora of labels their home has always been at house of disco records and thats where sae is now releasing their next solo ep titled i see. full of the clever touches and the warmth youve come to expect from them this ep delivers on every front.

from their earliest childhood, kiril kirik and ivanov, have been overcome by electronic music, having a different sens of this art. deep-tech from the eastern europe. the two urkranian djs were linked with in records in paris, a label sharing the same different taste of music. they decided to give birth to this story through this vinyl under your eyers. under a deep-tech beat, a booming bassline and a minimalistic melody comes *wish you* shared with love hoping to reach your feelings.

in the 70s radio stations were a powerful force across the whole of the us, and anyone with a transistor radio had access all kinds of music. live music was another matter altogether, and unless you found yourself in a major city your nights out were limited to what the local talent had to offer. this was especially so with soul and funk acts, as mainstream rock and pop was where the money was. so for small time oklahoma soul bands such as husband and wife charles and barbara burtons groups messengers inc - and later burton inc - times were tough. however, like many purveyors of soul, tough times were no match for those with determination, persistence and a story to tell. many artists scraped enough money together to make a 45 or two on their own label, but the burtons took this to another level – they got themselves organised and released their own full length lps.

nicolas cantu makes a welcome return to sequencias with the lost tribe—a brisk 808 workout with lush synthwork and psychedelic acid stylings. this is a more breezy approach compared to his work on other labels yet spares none of the imaginative or emotive qualities. on the flip side, label head jm de frias offers up the dissonant groover the light as a follow up to his debut track from levon vincents acclaimed fabric mix cd. brash percussion collides with staccato melodies awash in echo and organ, sustaining an intensity that never quite boils over. the two team up for the closer the last light, an atmospheric epic of growling strings, breathy ambience and melancholy stitched together with creaky, decrepit acid stabs and brittle percussion. this is the beginning of an on going collaboration between the two, keep your ears open in the near future.

jazzanova lands on wurst! early dj support comes from soul clap, radio slave, dimitri from paris, ewan pearson, sebo k, rob mello and slow hands. weve done the unthinkable, scored the unimaginable, and wrangled none other than jazzanova (!) for an über-limited one-sided vinyl-only release. while >i can see< feat ben westbeech came out a few years back, filippo moscatellos most excellent disco version never saw the light of day - until now, of course. doesnt much more sunshine-filled and soul-drenched than this stellar take on the esteemed berlin collectives original, and we are both honored and humbled to get to work with both jazzanova and their label sonar kollektiv, and of course filippo himself, on this very special release. filippo moscatello started to produce music in 1994 under the dj naughty moniker, and has since gone on to work with labels like gigolo, eskimo, and moodmusic to name but a few, releasing the artist albums disco volante (gigolo) and pagliaccio (moodmusic), as well as the acclaimed compilation, one naughty night in berlin (eskimo). in addition to his production work, filippo maintains a club residency at cookies in berlin called luv dancin where hes played along special guests like moodymann, jerome sydenham, ata, bottin and loud e.

troy pierce, marc houle & magda team up to present their first ever trio release on items & things, >down & out vol 1< - which takes its name from their newly created party series - events that are based around the dark & intimate, off the radar, and under the ground. troy pierce starts things off with >majikal<, introducing the eps dark magic with a climbing bassline, scattering, almost anxious percussion and buoyant sound effects panned throughout. ominous atmospheres and weighted textures produce a cinematic accompaniment to surveyors of uncharted terrain. building a continual tension-and-release cycle, the track is a lucid whirlwind of sonic imagery and trickery, balancing visceral sounds with the otherworldly. magda teams up with suade, a producer & friend from newcastle that we are sure to see more of, together they bring forth a true builder, a creeper, the type of track that reveals itself more with each layering sequence. a masterclass in dynamics, >fixation< is a dark groove thats haunted by a chilling vocal, wavering synth vibrato, unexpected melodies, and juxtaposes of funk. angular drums hit alongside swells of percussive echoes but, the focus of the track revolves around the bassline’s movement. as catchy as it is esoteric. marc houles >slowpe< ends the ep with a slightly slower pace, but in a disconcerting way: taking it down a few notches this one that transports the listener to the strangest dimension yet. filtered melodies start the tracks ascent, sounding like a trumpet thats been bent out of shape and played from the void. with dark textures compactly knit into a condensed wall of sound, a low-slung bassline trades places with eerie chords and sparse percussion

the last release before we hit the big five-0 here is samuel dan who had previously released together with darlyn vlys on our sub label sweet & sour. he has also shown his face on syncopat, dirty bird und off recordings. with the title track >i hear voices< samuel leans out from the dj booth and gives the vjs something ravey to trigger an emotional parade ... while he hears voices, we see stars. >on the dancefloor< and >do it baby< take us to the next level of this olympic exercise!

he s now back with a new 2 track ep, wait & see, that gives a sneak peak into his album that wil be released in october.on the a-side, wait & see, a secret weapon already triggered by agoria on his recent sets. the track opens with a steady but slightly dizzying rhythm pattern that eventually makes way for an androgynous chorus that build and lift your hands in the air with them. on the flipside, -love birds- a night owl, minimal and graceful and which waves its wings of synth arrangements and nocturnal chants till the first shines of the day
