luis flores enters the world of hidden agenda. once home to just productions from label boss dietrich schoenemann and tony rohr, the label has added the likes of misc, shokh+star, bau and metalogic. veteran of mexicos techno scene and years of pushing innovating and non-conforming concepts, luis has developed his own production style that is precise and hypnotic with a healthy degree of dance floor groove. his first release on droid recordings was enthusiastically lauded and in put into heavy rotation by the likes of chris liebing and speedy j. already he is gaining momentum with interest from dj heavyweights and international tours in europe, china, the u.s. and elsewhere.

tonbaumeister’s love for electronic music roots deep in the late eighties when he got his first computer, a commodore c-64, and when he instantly fell for the distinctive sounds of its sid chip. always driven by this passion he since then devoted himself to producing electronic music on various computing platforms and with multiple different programs to discover and soon constantly reinvent his own style. growing up in hessen, in the very heart of germany, he was deeply influenced by the endlessly evolving styles of house music and techno, which shaped the face of the vibrant club culture in cities like frankfurt and kassel. although tonbaumeister’s style might prematurely be declared as house music, the diversity of his productions makes it almost impossible to put them in a box and label them. his energetic tracks range from straight house to tech house to almost dark technoid characteristics, but suddenly one finds oneself surpr ised by the aforementioned sounds of late eighties computer games embedded in a psychedelic landscape with rough sawtoothy baselines. as hard as it is to pin down his production style, it is even harder to label his dj sets, which, as well as his productions, constantly evolve and morph while mirroring all of tonbaumeister’s influences. since 1999 he developed a passion for djing and he has had the chance to transport his enthusiasm into a number of clubs, infecting many clubbers with his verve. at the moment he is about to launch his own label subclinical

the artform label began in 1997 formed by jamie anderson as a platform to release his studio productions. artform soon had the attention and support of other music pioneers and released early works by jerome, steve rachmad, dave angel, stanny franssen and jesse rose. the mission for the label was to bridge the divide between genres of electronic music by experimenting with fusing styles and developing new sounds, a legacy which is still apparent today. after a short break artform now returns with a fresh new track by jamie anderson to relaunch the label joined by a huge remix from amsterdam‘s jerome. the pair of have worked together many times with releases on 100% pure and jerome‘s own outland records. this past year has seen jamie‘s productions on labels such as cocoon, rekids, klang elekronik and harthouse, and this release proves to be one of his strongest yet. predator continues in the labels direction of forward thinking tech house with a classic sound of the 909 creating a sinister backdrop of detroit inspired techno.

all the tracks on this double vinyl demonstrate his innovative approach to music, running the full spectrum from soft ambient interludes to the more uptempo beat trickery. accept manages to combine both extremes and is an apt opening track, demonstrating the two faced nature of aardvarcks productions, highly constructed beats and beautiful melodies. taa baa sounds like it emerged straight out of londons co op, though aardvarck has not been to this broken beat mecca. th #1 is pure ambient bliss and followed by the deep spacious beats of dim. steps is based around a seriously crunched up hip- hop break, think domu scrapping with the funkstorung boys. the original version of zom is track 7 (ignore the tracklisting on the cd) whilst the stunning remix by attica blues tony nwachukwu is actually track no. 17. upset is based around deep raw bass, the structure of the track is created with pin point beat work. flight simulator is a silky smooth journey, proving that aardvarcks beats dont have to be broken. the stuttered synchopated bass stabs of th#3 combined with its fearsome breaks push the edge of the nu jazz envelope and gentle is an uptempo number combining the skip of 2 step with smooth german jazz styles - one for the quirky jerky types on the dancefloor. th#6 is another deep ambient soundscape helping to ease the pressure after the frantic percussion of knet. stampot shows aardvarcks ability to counter fearsome rhythms with melancholy chords, the forward flowing synths float the listener over the near chaotic drum programming. finally, the album closes with the weeping strings and treated piano of anders, bizarrely twisted and warped sonics. one beautiful voyage!

session victim - berlin/hamburg based duo of hauke freer and matthias reiling - return with the next installment in real soons occasional limited edition series. the late runner ep follows two well received real soon releases - session victims no friends ep (2008) and hauke freers my beat 12inch (2007). the four tracks here continue session victims exploration into their distinctive brand of low key tech/house minimalism - their productions combine a confident timeless simplicity with a subtle attention to detail & texture and a clever ear for melody. as well as real soon, session victim have previous releases on hairy claw and their own recently launched label retreat.

on the b side, the kalabrese remix of dein verlangen goes stripped down, superb re-interpretation of the track.the talented mysterious musician brought a deep and sexy bass, add recorded acoustics sounds, and playedsome horns & trumpets, who bring the track in another dimension, one more acoustic, where all the kalabreseunique swning take place along the track. i let u discover more by yourself the others mysterys inside those cuts.

smaul recordings should not be suggestive of being fed by productions of acid pauli, only. however, creative times need being used and martin gretschmann - aka console - member of the notwist - alias acid pauli has collected lots of material whilst the scarce time left last year. on smaul 07 he follows his self-weaved red thread of the year. acid pauli confides more & more in a certain house rhythm paired with these melancholic layered sound-synthesis, already well known by him. astonishing things emerge out of acid paulis musical waves, sometimes even scientially croon quite a bit. nymbiotic (a) comes relaxed but holds a great melody up in the sleeve - seasonly peppered. symbiotic (b) rests bit on minimal house, but acid pauli never relied on that genre. thus, this track does not remain as it seems after three minutes. glitches and sounds break it up to evolve a new symbiosis. symbiotic becomes more timeless in spite of siren-climax peaks and an obsessive string chorus fading in the end.

best known as one half of the motorcitysoul duo, alongside christian rindermann aka c-rock. the pair have been responsible for some of the finest productions and remixes from the deeper realm over the past few years. their ability to create grand, atmospheric and emotional moments for the floor has seen them release and remix for fantastic labels including cocoon, freerange, simple, conaisseur, liebe detail, junior boys own, tsuba and their very own stir 15. matthias skills do not just sit in the electronic dancefloor realm. an accomplished pianist and jazz lover, his role as bandleader in the matthias vogt trio sees him bring acoustic jazz and electronica together in exciting, imaginative live compositions

after a split 12’’ and two eps from its founders, your favourite vinyl-only label welcomes an exciting new artist for its fourth release. hailing from berlin, hunee is a true music lover, a passionate dj and an amazing producer (not to mention a top notch friend). his recent productions on feel music, w.t. records and drumpoet community have caught the ear of many key players and made him one to watch in 2010. needless to say, hunee takes it to a whole other level with his barrio payment trilogy: from soulful house to slow-mo disco via afrobeat, the producer holds nothing back and that’s exactly how we like it at retreat hq. starting off with swinging hi-hats and a wah-wah loop, foundation builds excitement before a killer organ riff and bouncy bassline manage to bring the last non-dancers on the floor. ..

belgian producers sierra sam & marcus vector return to their house-oriented project d.i.y. (dumb irresponsible youth) for three more sly, sexy groovers, with contributions from dop, big bully and markus fix.
while sam and marcus are generally known for their more techno-focused productions, last years house tools vol. 1 was a minor hit, with tracks included in ellen alliens resident advisor podcast, jay hazes recent fabric47 mix cd, and m.a.n.d.y.s charts. since then, they ve kept busy with their own toys for boys label, meanwhile sierra sam has co-produced the debut album by bloody mary on contexterrior.
still, they ve found the time to crank out these new elegant-yet-sleazy cuts, and while vol. 1 was purely instrumental, for vol. 2 they ve roped in some guest vocalists. first up is their collab with comrades dop (circus company, eklo, supplement facts). >kilimanjaro< features d.i.y.s tribal bounce combined with dops seedy, trent reznor-on-opiates vocal delivery.
the flipside has two versions of >suck my caulk<: d.i.y.s original elevates thelevel of melody and sunshine, weaving in the voice of big bully (known forhis work on spectral, get physical and vakant). markus fix of cecille offers his own interpretation, bringing the track down into deep house territory. placed in the right hands, these tools can do some serious dancefloor damage!

next 12 inch on the new sub-label by munich-based gomma records for their output of club-focused 12 inch maxis - telonius gets the remix-treatment by zombie nation and moulinex !!! with his project telonius, jonas imbery one of the 2 chiefs of gomma records is returning to his musical roots - early house music from the 80ies and 90ies. his inspired dj-sets convey a dense and rich musical texture, spanning from frankie knuckles warehouse inspired retro house and loft-style disco music to brand new club productions. never sounding stuck in the past, but with both feet firmly based in the current musical streams of electronic club sound, which also shows in the productions for telonius.

changes. always changes. life is changing but not for troubled kids. the deepest music choice still on the top of the label. an now it is time again for the spanish matador jesus gonsev, one of the troubled kids crew. he gives another massive bomb for your ears. this is the 5th release of the label with three diferent tracks as usual in jesus productions. elegant, groovy and a special touch for the dancefloor so use with caution when you play it! you are warned!

>the cockpit< is my personal favourite song of the chelonis album and it has taken my sleepless night (and days) to watch out for the right remixers. now that all new versions are ready, i m more than happy because all three fellows have felt the real vibe of the original song. a spezial thanx to ekkohaus who delivered two different mixes and spent a lot of energy and passion into these productions. and also merci to steve rachmad and paul woolford, guys who stand rather for techno, however improved their soul into creating passionated tech house! chapeau! aux-rec is being launched by airdrop records as an offshoot label designed with a specific mission in mind: to look back and pay tribute. aux-rec surveys musical history looking for those inspiring pieces of music (famous or forgotten) that carry a very distinctive groove and identity, and that offer the potential to be revisited in an ingenious contemporary way. at airdrop, we love music of all ages and of many genres! we feel aux-rec is a way for our artists and for us to pay our due respects to the origins and the evolution of contemporary dance music.
the existing airdrop roster of artists will be invited to contribute to aux-rec, but different artists will also be uncovered specifically for this project. off to a fresh start, franco cinelli and club rayo (a duo composed by rafael sorol and pablo terreil) engrave their long-time friendship on this record. franco cinellis first productions were released on the duos imprint club rayo disquets at the beginning of the millenium. the club rayo collective has been extremely active in the local argentinean scene for more than twelve years now.
going back to one of music historys greatest classics, >fever<, franco cinelli and club rayo bring their own interpretations to a theme that has known as many versions than people taking a sing at it in the shower! using ella fitzgeralds and elvis presleys voices, club rayo create repsectively the fitzgerald mix - a rocking dancefloor jam looping ellas fantastic voice bringing it to a culmination - and the king dub - a 118 bpm groove punctuated by elvis low-pitched and resonant tone. cuerdas is a short guitar instrumantal rendition of the fever theme. on his remix, franco cinelli creates a 10 minutes drum symphony, especially designed for the post-climatic hours. both producers kept in mind ellas famous quote when undertaking this great enterprise: >i stole everything i ever heard, but mostly i stole from the horns.<
the following releases on aux-rec will also be in the form of bootlegs, edits, re-works or samples (you name it). they will bring back memories to your heads and mostly the groove to your feet. to be true to its mission of a vintage exploration, aux-rec will be releasing exclusively on vinyl, in the tradition of the essential music format of the 20th century. there will be no digital releases at aux-rec. in the pipeline are soul claps edit of laid backs >bakerman< as well as le loups version of sheila es >a love bizarre<, produced by prince.
