having cut his teeth with a cassette release of stripped back house for new york�s pastel voids, back in 2016, the portland based producer steps up and delivers four tracks that shift between chicago and 90s house styles right through to spectral jungle.

some might say jordan fields is one of the most criminally underappreciated figures to rise out of chicago in the late 90s, not for people who know what s what though. after a career spanning more than 20 years he has established himself as one of the key figures of the underground. coming out of where everything started, chicago, jordan released records on a handful of key labels like catalyst, track mode, som underground, mood groove, maffia. he did not stop there and today he is still releasing bangers having never lost that magic touch that has kept him firmly grounded on the purest form of the underground, and that, after more than 20 years is pretty much unheard of. when we first contacted jordan we wanted to go back to where it all started, we wanted to be transported to late 90s chicago, to a time where it was all about the dance floor, when tracks meant something more than songs, when purely club-oriented music was the purest form of the underground. to be honest we were not expecting to get exactly what we wanted straight away, he immediately sent us a collection of tools straight out of dat tapes he had, going all the way back to the 90s and early 2000s, so yeah to say that we are excited with this release would be a huge understatement. this is a collection of tools meant for the dancefloor, not reminiscent of some gone by era, these are the real deal, made by a true master, 20 years ago, for the future.

sparse and reflective, the chicago native�s work occupies a curious space on the periphery of the techno genre. by stripping back the music to all but its most vital elements - most notably the sequence, but at the same time maintaining a sense of urgency in its articulation, litüus crafts exquisite, ghostly shadows of busier, more fleshed out material. neither intro nor outro, but rather suspended in some middling point of formation - what remains is a remarkably pure examination of minimalist, experimental synthesis.

chico buarque construcao revisited by l_cio is a beautiful debut project part of a doc series of releases combining classic brazilian names with doc artists and producers. l_cio (laercio schwantes) the man with the transverse flute known for some of the freshest and unique tracks coming out from brazil is behind this gemstone. increasingly building a legacy of fans following his live performances and recent releases on doc records (vazio, traffic, people talk, schwantes), this man is a non-stoppable 30 hours machine gun. on this long awaited 2-track limited edition vinyl release, l_cio and gui boratto kept the roots of this classic track construcao. however they added all the proper elements of a techno dance floor knockout. by inserting malicious baselines, flutes and strings they generated aggressive melodies while keeping all characteristics of this epic song. voted as the greatest brazilian song by rolling stones magazine, construcao was originaly recorded by chico buarque in 1971 with production by roberto menescal. released during military dictatorship, chico buarque criticizes the way of life of the brazilian workers, comparing them to machines. the song is known for its interchangeable last words, used as if they were pieces of a board game, as said by buarque. generatiions apart, construcao (l_cio & k_ri version) and construcao (l_cio & borattos deconstructed mix) are the first ever authorized remixes in over 45 years. l_cio the latest dance floor brazilian soldier, a menacing builder of beats completes an epic turnnig point by editing and lapidating a classic poetry. with a b side dub version beutifully crafted by label boss gui boratto, this limited edition pearl is finally here for our joy!

to explain the project briefly, this is the second ep called cd it has a remix track by alejandro vivanco on the c side, which then chic miniature have remixed on the d side. the project will continue like that on the next 12� where another artist will be remixing the chic miniature remix... and so it continues. the records won�t be catalogued by numbers, but by letters, as they are more of a series all together. in other words there is only one original track, which is the a side of the first �changing pieces� 12- and the rest are remixes.

it is more than astounding why this tune hasn t been resurrected for an ad for one of the many chain of fast food outlets. although the original 45 is neither superrare nor expensive, finger licken chicken is certainly one of the finest examples of philly funk. it was originally released on leoso but was re-released on the yew label. both sides were written by sonny fulton who teamed up with sandra for a killer r&b-ish funk cut on the flip titled back breaking love

a quick split between h.j. and a.n. one freaky-deaky drum tool that operates on it own wave in space and time on the a, and the other side, a snappy, hazy ode(s) to the rhodes.

with a career stretching back to 1998, via releases on dance mania, juke trax, blank mind, and planet mu, everyone should know dj clent by now. crosstalk actually unleashed his first internationally distributed tracks via dj slugo�s subterranean playhouse label, and we are excited to have acquired the rights to distribute all the beatdown house releases, worldwide. dj roc aka the crack capone is another artist who�s first international releases were disseminated via our digital program, we also distributed various juke city mix cds. his break came via his album on planet mu, and has also had a recent ep via duck n� cover. dj t-rell & c-bit are relatively unknown, internationally, but have been active on the chicago scene for at least a decade. you�ll find their tracks on local mix cds by slugo, deeon, and clent, among others.

northside �82 is proud to welcome smart bar resident savile to the label for our second release. entitled suffer play, this three track ep imagines an alternate reality where minimal house takes an extended detour through chicago, strapping on the city�s famous jacking percussion for a more robust but equally razor sharp sound. �spaced� opens the record with a jolt of jacking house, pairing a limber bass line with tense percussion and pinpoint vocal samples. �1pm morning� is inviting and warm, a richly crafted environment lit by by resonating bass, wallpapered with sharpened guitar strums, and decorated with jangling percussion and clavinet accents. closer, �recipes from nowhere�, is the dreamiest of them all, letting melodies bubble around the track�s bass line backbone and swaddling listeners in melancholic pads. altogether an exceptional record from one of the city�s brightest young.
