kicking off with acid-soaked stepper x da05 sees the uk imprint continue to explore the darker recesses of the dancefloor. a bottom end as deep as you like combines with razor sharp percussion on this basement techno workout. the sound design of black science (version) warps the bleep techno blueprint into a swaggering half time roller before black science itself arrives. this dramatic piece merges tense, millsian atmospherics with stratospheric strings to create a timeless piece of expansive sci-fi techno. the filth ridden debris, a bottom-heavy groove for those of a serious disposition, rounds off another killer four track salvo of techno futurism from this on-point label.

every home should have this record from the 2 of the originators of deep house! virgo 4 were kicking out the most melodic, fathoms deep, complex emotional machine music before anyone else (them & larry obviously!) had caught up with them & the do you know who are? ep from 1989 is as flawless as it gets, often imitated over the years but never, ever bettered

nebraska is someone who’s tracks we’ve been loving for a good few years now and finally managed to pin him down for a release here on delusions of grandeur. the uk producer is something of an enigma, and despite some amazing releases on rush hour still remains resolutely underground and seems to keep his releases to a minimum, focusing on keeping the quality high rather than flooding the market with average material. once again, he brings the real deal with three drum-heavy warehouse jams to nice-up the dancefloor. aw-right (mute version) sets the tone with a raw house groove that keeps things stripped to the bare minimum. a bouncing bassline and rattling percussion break help to define the track but it’s the dusty, dubby approach to the mix which really makes the track shine. next up we have warp and weft, a similar sounding track but by dropping the bpm’s nebraska has created a sublime low-slung, bumpy groove to really move to. flipping over we’re treated to the brilliant eighty eights which will have you nodding your head like the churchill’s dog before you can say ‘looped up piano and bass one bar groove repeated for over eight and a half minutes shouldn’t work should it?’

recorded from rudys homemade studio in hampton virginia before he cut *searching for love* on harvest records around 1983, he did this wonderful modern synth winner. with rudy just having one pass on a reel of this song, we remastered it a little at the super disco hq to give it a brighter feel. sure its pretty lo-fi but the quality of the song writing playing and melodies are more than enough to let is see the joys of a turntable. this is once again a limited press.

nail provides the lead track for fofs latest vinyl only excursion - originally produced in the same time period as the classic tracks on the ode rammel reissue ep earlier in the year, glazed lay dormant on one of nails dats for many years before being rediscovered and given its first airing now on fof. chunky roughed up house beats are the order of the day here, a real peak time groove. new talent harry mccanna, resident at londons infamous undersound nights, debuts with act 1, a beautifully subtle bassline driven groove that rises above the pack with its super warm pad lending the track a warm and fuzzy hypnotic edge. romanian talent zece kicks off the flipside with the most contemporary offering, a breakbeat laden groove with a fx laden vocal snatch underpinned by that all important b-line whilst sonodab rounds things off with a beautifully deep and melodic slice of electro on brown study, the percussive elements giving rise to a hazy melodic pattern for those early hour excursions.

behind the next release on meant records are italian duo boot & tax, a relatively new pairing made up of claudio brioschi and cristiancroce. here they serve up three great originals baced with a stellar remix from alien alien. before now, boot & tax have released two extremely well received eps on jd twitchs optimo trax and have also recently had their music licensed to erol alkans fabric live 77, so the pair are really on the up.

12 releases strong already, a:rpia:r has been silent for the last 2 years, since petre inspirescu’s gradina onirica hit the shelves of your favourite record shop. it is now raresh’s turn to release something special and indeed he did. vivaltu is an old gem, a subtle uplifting track driven by a powerful resonator, perfect for that “special moment”. the male mumbling voices provide the track with that extra eclectic feel. this is in fact raresh’s only track on vivaltu ep, the rest are remixes. side b presents a minimal house interpretation remix by none other than chilean legend and friend, ricardo villalobos. the resonator is still here but in come some childish voices to make it all perfect. perfect for the dancefloor. side c brings forward another member of the a:rpia:r family, none other than contemporary wizard petre inspirescu. his take has a very cinematic approach, building and building for 4 minutes before the kick even starts. the rich percussive atmosphere is completed with a brilliant melody reminiscent of his classical experiments. this track is an absolute masterpiece ! aloe varu is the third chosen for this remix pack and indeed he was chosen wise. his stripped down remix spans for 13 minutes and completes the story of a:rpia:r 13.

arturo garces, our brother from the west coast, returns to robsoul with his looking for strangers ep. loved by the robsoul community for his beats from the streets series, the san jose resident first appeared on the label back in 2012 with a trio of tracks that made up vol.1. two more collections followed and firmly established arturo as one of the labels most exciting talents. a label boss himself, arturo is seen as having helped define what is known as the silicon valley sound. his own blend of beat-laden house infused with elements of soul, funk and disco has seen him become a favourite with the likes of sneak, farina and weeks.

nice price deal !!! marking the first output of cymasonic s offshot vinyl-only label and collabaration with subwax distribution, the balder ep is a two-hundred copy, hand stamped entry into the world of cymawax. there s no better way to start than with four quality tracks of hot and crunchy norwegian techno with soul by trulz & robin, under their new moniker for otherworldly machine sounds: ksmisk. the duo from oslo have been a force in norway s electronic music scene for over two decades, but their current project is set to bend and exceed all expectations. the title track makes full use of spacial effects to create the kind of landscape deserving of the cavernous exchange of industrial rooms or the breathing walls of smaller sweatboxes. its energetic arpeggiation carries the driving, raw bass line home. less linear and more neurotic, -jonson- squelches its way into existence. next, -water- is as fluid as the name suggests, using deep, delayed dub chords to sustain listeners during its eight minute life. finally, the release ends on -tehjerk- which is full of electricity, heavily charged with distortion and powerful drums before opening up into a euphoric waterfall of melodies. it s fitting that this chronicle should end up pressed onto wax, a monument to the physical launch of cymawax and trulz & robin presenting ksmisk.

is it balearic bring the heat with a stunning release from sorcerer. the first track is zulu honda. skipping thick drums and a bouncing bass overlaid with nu med guitars and beautiful synth lines. this track is made for pool parties and lofts. the second track is afro vibes a more atmospheric percussive groove. maribas throbbing bassline and slightly melancholic guitars eventually make way for a subtle acid accent before returning to the groove.. salins jockey club remix zulu honda adding some lovely elements while holding the original feel. top draw from the dependable iib crew

after a stunning three part compilation released in the second half of 2014, dutch label field is back with another album project, this time from american producer christopher ernst, aka l estasi dell oro, who also records as penalune and is co-founder of the voodoo down label. before now, ernst has proved himself to be adept at crafting deep and atmospheric, excellently ambient techno on a range of labels. varying his tempos and textures, he does acid, raw stuff, tough beats and more industrial grooves. across this new 8-track album, all this and more is explored in captivating fashion. this is an expressive and expansive modern techno album from l estasi dell oro that is perfectly at home on the always interesting field label.

ah, yes! finally some real flavours to sink our teeth into. the nose is truly a work of art. first the classic peaty smoke but so distinctly understated. confident in it s maturity. the salty pineapple citrus is next coupled with a refined lemon- lime toffee tartness. and finally a whiff of fresh cucumber sprinkled with the loveliest of white pepper. oh, yes. this is what we’ve been waiting for! the creamy mouthfeel is laced with intense black peppers but then mellows out to give you honey, lemon and chocolate with a dash of tobacco. the long peppery finish is fruity with a hint of limestone. these are the classic flavours that made linkwood one of the top distilleries and expressions should be on your list of malts to try before you die.

entitled narita, the release is inspired by, and dedicated to, japan, and the tracks are a collage of all the experiences and emotions the producer has picked up there whilst on his travels. this release was also due to be the 44th on the label (which has now made it up to number 67) and so has clearly been cooking for a long time. once again it proves the man behind it to be focused on stripped back and hypnotic grooves, shadowy textures and subliminal synths that are abstract and truly heady. up first, sleepless is a spooky and hypnotic techno roller with icy pads and rubber drums that roll on like a haunted midnight train burrowning deep into your brain. ebisu is even more reserved, with just a light, skipping kick and tinkling, glassy keys suspending you in a wide open space of abstract atmospheric soun d. on th e flip side, mountain splitter is more urgent and immediate, with nervy pads this time racing alongside woodpecker precision and supple drums. it s heady stuff that really distracts you from the world before finally trance is a wash of grainy white noise and groaning synths that soundtrack a word deep down in the depths of the ocean. svreca is a master of getting deep inside both body and brain and does so in different but captivating ways with all four of these cuts.

the nuclear family return with the follow-up to the summer’s after effects ep - another four tracks of deeper electronics for discerning djs and dancers. the title cut is a throwback to the days when we made music in our bedrooms with whatever cheap-ass drum machines and synths we could lay our hands on, and we have invited one of our favourite artists, atlantas moon b, to lend his magic touch to a remix on the flip, we drift into dubbier climes before dropping the tempo to close things out on a spaced-out electro tip.

caul is the new album from last harbour. based in the northern english city of manchester, last harbour play music with a dark, gothic heart yet their songs are always beautiful and transcendent. after working with producer richard formby (wild beasts, spacemen 3, ghostpoet) on two previous albums, the band took time out after touring to build their own studio in 2013. this new album was recorded in that self-created space over a year between 2013-4 and bears testament to a patient and detailed recording process that allowed time for experimentation and careful arrangement.

concept e25 is back! wax classic 15 sees concept e25’s third release on the label in the space of just a year! the demand has been overwhelming for more garage house hits with that added subtle, french flourish. we heard those cries, so here we have another slammin four track record from the man himself! the opening track of the ep, sing!, is destined for greatness this summer on dance floors everywhere. for me, this will be the go-to track of the record for most djs out there. on this track, concept e25 combines a pumping kerri style bassline with beautiful sustained chords, feel good vox cuts and the occasional sax line. proper hands-in-the-air vibes here! giving it takes the ep into a deeper realm, one that evokes images of late evening summer sunsets. however, the garage swing and signature concept e25 bass sound is still present. lies leads with moody chords before introducing a vocal that will be stuck in your head for a long time! again, we have a smooth sax line to accompany the vocal up to the track’s climax. rounding out this solid release is feel this way. here, the punchy bass hits are united with an acid line that bubbles underneath, before being unleashed halfway through the track in a warehouse-reminiscent burst of resonance.

skylax records, the company focused on realeasing original obscure dance classic and everythings that sounds fine to their ears ! what a special one we have here on skylax classic! damien zala, the man who put out the superb album ‘lonely happiness’ on rowtag records in late 2012, who gets heavy support from the great theo parrish, dishes up six special tracks for our next release. before diving in, it is well worth noting that a selection of damiens album tracks had remixes by the likes of house icons such as dj jus-ed, rick wade and boo williams! if those names register even the slightest blip on your radar, which they should, then this record might be the treasure youve been searching for. damiens sampling technique has a certain air of grandeur to it. shake vibration makes this apparent right from the start with intricate layers of vocals, guitar licks and keys. all my respect and come around both follow suit whilst dizzie picks up the b side with a bit more energy and frenzy compared to what has come before it. the record rounds out with two tracks taking things a bit deeper. stay where you are drives forward with filtered pad chords that accompany jazzy sax and vocal cuts while conversely, z to the jz brings in a moodier vibe with its jazz samples and smoky drums. do not miss the chance to get such a gem of a record from damien zala!, c l a s s i c ! a must to have in every djs collection. essential item no digital

at the tail end of the 90s, gregory darsa played around with a number of pseudonyms before finally settling on his now familiar dj gregory alias. one of those abandoned aliases was headcore. it was used for a single ep back in 1998, released on chateau flight s label, versatile (then in it s infancy). here, that ep gets a welcome reissue. it s aged rather well, with all four tracks - explorations of deep house themes with occasional nods to the dubby, african-influenced style darsa would later explore on the africanism project - sounding as fresh now as they did 16 years ago. picking highlights is tricky, but we re particularly enjoyed the sparse, swinging dub-house of -cage- (accompanied with a tasty drum dub) and the chez damier-influenced chug of -in & out

the new desolat x-sampler comes as a 2x12 inch package with eight tracks, and includes a download code that gives the buyer those eight tracks in digital format, plus another six digital tracks. in keeping with tradition it features a combination of artists who have already graced desolat before and artists who make their debut on the label.

the new bomb on echocord colour comes from brendon moeller. brendon already did releases on echocord and echocord colour before, also on his monikers echologist and beat pharmacy. words from the artist: much in line with the label aesthetic, i set out with these trax to explore the dubbier hypnotic side of techno music. my goal was to present 3 trax that could be played at different times of the evening because ttheres nothing like giving a dj who has to carry a bag of vinyl around the world a record where each track can be played in one night! of course, the question rremains, are you a dj that wants to play 3 trax like this? if yes, buy this now.

before dj gregory was point g. point g is an alias used by the french produced to explore a gritty, raw sound steeped in abstract vibes but with a very basic approach, which makes it all the more captivating making a strong impact on the underground scene in the 90s, point g gained much respect amongst his peers with timeless releases like the raw ep, on the raw again ep…. originals vinyl copies of many of point gs early tracks are notoriously hard to find, giving this comeback even more kudos.

its time for phonogramme to explore different styles and releasing one of its most successful project ! from france, kris tidjan composes music layers in the high sphere of soul jazz. playing most instruments by himself and singing, he also presents music live with musicians. on his first ep floating therapy he comes with feel the love & mystic bantu trip, african music accents & a strong rare groove touch, mastercut oriented under the supervision of professor inc. a1 featuring fela kuti s accent with an additional sax played by christian rodenberg while a2 reaches a 11:11 timing with peacefulness and aerial feeling.on the other side we go deeper into the artist s influences, ethnic vocals melted with tidjans * son of the sun* beautiful refrain & meimouna coffi at vocal chorus, some soul jazz broken beat like we rarely hear today, very strong and contributing to the genre greatly, * shining from the deep space*. for the b2 professor inc brings you a remix of feel the love in two part with a soulful vibe and deep house touch in the spirit of what he has already done for the label before.

in about 2003 i did some work for deepfunk and northern soul legend keb darge and as was the way back then i received payment in vinyl. included in the pile was this little detroit number which i instantly fell in love with. in 1980 david mcmurray and adell shavers and david mcmurray (who went on to be a member of 80s hit band was not was) wrote and produced this amazing detroit modern / boogie 45 which for some reason suffered the same fate of many of aotn releases and disappeared from history. but thanks to the generation of collectors before me this gem sat safely in northern collection such as kebs for years waiting for its day in the sun. it only got limited play but recently the record has had a resurgence in popularity and value which it deserves. after a tip off from jason stirland (soulstax records) i found david mcmurray and it was wonderful to find he was keen to help me bring this wonderful 45 back into the limelight. so here we are…

kaputt comes up with another must have. this time its miss sunshine (decoy, random island) from croatia with strong remix support by flug (clr, sleaze), attemporal (limited, synewave) and labelhead coeter (gynoid, flash). save this serious 12inch before its too late.

florian kupfer is back. this time he shows a glimpse into his diversity and depth. starting in the familiar territory with his trade marked, blue eyed freaky soul vocals and rough beats before meandering his way through strangely sad blown out drum workouts and hip hop styled new beat tracks... comes with full color sleeve.

the title track offers up a delicious concoction of rhodes keys and smoky jazz inflections before a brittle synth and snatch of soulful vocal usher in an entrancing chicago groove. utterly moreish, it s a tune to stick on repeat. philpot label founder jackmate s devilishly playful version does exactly what a remix should do: give the original tune s elements a fresh twist while respecting its distinctive spirit. a pounding kick, astonishing in its rippling intensity, underpins off-kilter and pitched-up samples that somehow hold together for an exhilarating ride. -fish paul- marries spacey eno-esque drones to a pounding beat and crackling interference. testament to gaiaschi s years of directing and promoting parties and his dj residencies at milan s dude and tunnel clubs, it s a tune that embodies a fine-tuned understanding of the dancefloor. -the point- rounds things off with bright keys and crisp claps, to build a dreamy, skilfully layered groove.

off the back of the success of audens first hotflush ep, the enigmatic alias returns to scubas label with another hard hitting four-tracker, wall to wall. lock in throws you in headfirst - fast-paced drum loops layered with slices of jarring techno and a driving bassline that would be welcomed on the darkest dancefloors. utopian, initially a more languid cut, juxtaposes an almost cerebral landscape with hard hitting percussion, only allowing the listener a short breather before hurtling back in with perisheds swirling synths and trippy electronic jabs. ending on xirox, auden crafts a slightly more down-tempo cut, boasting a catchy groove that only gets better with each listen. whoever auden may or may not be, one thing is for certain – hes carving his place deep in technos panorama.

with the bizarre feeling ep laying the sound for the subsequent fist year of the label, it is right jamie returns with ep#2 to move things forward with another twisted take on his unique mutoid-protoid-machine-funk-groove. starting with mad obsession you would be forgiven for thinking you ll have bizarre feeling part 2, with warped vocals - taken from late night, half asleep scribbled notes - and space echo haze, but let the percussion work-out trip you up and the stars in and before you know it things start going leftfild and then deeper with the free party sound system bass line shuffl of time nearly time. what he is on (about), no one knows. it is on the flp however that things take a darker turn. beyond the confession booth, down sharp stairs and dripping ceiling to a red light lit room of latter day late night blues.

after an a-side debut on m_red ltd’s heady 10’’ series, shadowy outfit overall severity return with their first full outing for key vinyl. much like the slabs of steely sonic wares that have paved the way before it, “knowing the healing” presents three works of on-point dance floor material we’ve come to associate with the underground tastemaker. “explain pain” is the ep’s aggravated opener. a pounding kick and itchy percussion unfurls into a din of claps and noises, spliced with melodious peals and a low-slung sort of groove. “backfiring nerves” is one of those cool peak-time weapons: frantic yet subtle, deeply groovy and plied with much-loved vintage crashes. “parasympathetic” then concludes in the form of a chugging basement bomb awash with bleary acid tones, crystal hats and muted dissonant chimes. all in all, “knowing the healing” marks a powerful entry into the ring from these ones-to-watch newcomers.

de:tuned was founded in 2009 by ruben boons and bert hermans. the pair first organised a series of old school techno parties in antwerp (belgium) before launching the record label in 2012. to celebrate 5 years de:tuned they now turn out a very special 5lp album featuring 21 tracks from some of the most respected names in the game. the album has its roots firmly in early/mid 90s techno and electronica, a style which de:tuned has always presented, and spans some 20 years of electronic music.
