in 2016. i rented out a small piano studio in east london for nearly the whole year and set out to write an introspective, trendless, and mostly beatless album. inspired by albums from this mortal coil and scott walker, who also sought freedom to work outside of the expectations of their previous work, i limited the instrumentation to mostly an acoustic piano and effects, which left space to expose a lot of emotional vulnerabilities about myself and people close to me. writing lullabies about being a mother in a dystopian world, with pensive words about swimming against the current as a female artist, i felt free enough to tell untold truths that i’ve never felt comfortable talking about within music. free, liberated, empowered. naked.

anno stamm is the revered 4/4 branch name of berlin’s lars stoewe. as anstam he has been at the forefront of dark beat science, touring extensively with the likes of moderat and thom yorke’s atoms for peace and has appeared at festivals ranging from mutek and ctm to sonar and dimensions. ‘annothek’ is his second ep for macro. the three tracks build on the same set of sound sources and offer three different views at their glowing core. elastic basslines pierce through a bed of sweet and warm chords, surrounded by sizzling noise percussion. definitely on the more introspective side, the three cuts offer a special emotional depth while maintaining a bit more than just enough oomph to get the action going. late night and early morning are the possible settings. it’s a declaration of tender love that comes with a gentle push towards the closest darkroom.

almost 10 years have passed since onra arrived with the charmingly eccentric chinoiseries lp. 32 hip-hop beats formed the sample-based project - dusty chinese vinyl hissing and crackling throughout – resulting in an intriguing and spontaneous mix of the producers interest in exploring a newly-discovered style of music with his love for classic hip-hop production.
using the style of analogue mpc production combined with the somewhat restrictive record sampling of strictly chinese music records, he has been able to be creative over three volumes, an amount of 100 instrumentals, despite the challenge of finding more obviously standout samples in chinese music.
the chinoiseries projects are the type of albums that invites the listener to play it from beginning to end, in order to really enjoy the trip and appreciate the variety of rhythms and textures spread over those 32 short instrumentals. in that way, “pt.3” is no different to its predecessors, but the originality of the samples, the curious harmonies and the odd-drum patterns still makes the album sounds as fresh as the first one.

one of electronic music’s greats steps back into the limelight with his first ep in more than 10 years. erik van den broek, the dutch producer who is probably better known under some of his pseudonyms such as shiver, essit musique and acid kid dominated the 90’s with a slew of brilliant acid and electro releases on dance arena productions and shiver. erik was a firm favourite of dave clarke and laurent garnier who included some of his tracks on their perfectly blended mix cds (x-mix electro boogie and laboratoire mix respectively).
erik already made an appearance on de:tuned’s 5 years box set in 2014 with the track primerose and now he’s back with more previously unreleased material. the tracks on offer are all on a deeper tip, with warm yet slightly eerie and mysterious sounds, clever programming and subtle effects. proof that erik has still got it after all these years. these tracks were made during an emotional time for erik, something that is clearly reflected in the music.
once again we enlisted alan oldham for artwork duties and matt colton for mastering the source material to perfection. this ep will be available on 180 gr vinyl. a digital release will also be available from all the usual outlets. de:tuned are honoured to have worked with erik on this release, a very personal record for him. thanks erik & emiel for your confidence and support!

venezuelan extraordinaire producer trujillo is back with a new set of sun-injected future nostalgia cuts on apersonal music. street soul and trip-hop atmospheres deliciously blended together transports you back to a remote paradisiac beach in the heart of the venezuelan caribbean coast. both tracks feature the seductive voice of colombian paulo olarte and a very exclusive appearance from tropical disco maestro daniel grau in -hola como estas- on the piano. to complete the journey the flip side runs through the exquisite balearic tool mix of -everytime i think of u- by norwegian producer telephones, feeling hypnotic and sophisticated. el caribe te lo da!

snow-white vinyl. solace is the brand new roller from alaska. a sequence of sad violin loops set the tone over fast breaks and strings. sub-bass and keys glide with soulful house vocals adding the final touch for the first solo alaska 12inch in three years. alaska revisits the ambient number earthloop on the flipside adding sharp downtempo drums to the original break-less recording from 2010’s the mesozoic era lp.

artefact - a smooth groover that has all the markings of a great producer. it’s a smooth groove machine, percussive and acidic in equal measure.
drag you inside a hole - is percussive again, with his hall mark signature groove, it’s infectious as it is long, a great booming techno number.
no merci - a peak time affair, booming and dark, think aliens, it’s the title for a reason, it stomps and delivers.
shelter - a breaks outing, subtle and melodic. a perfect finishing or opening track to a set, and one of our favourites on this release. it’s as magic as it is prophetic, simplistic beauty at it’s best.

tangram presents the second installment of ltgl’s limited 7” series for record store day 2017. this one features a brand new track by ltgl, called scribble. he’s been playing the song live in the past year(s), featured it in his boiler room set and it has become a sought after gem.

bqd40.3 features some new label signings that hint at the label’s future musical direction. first up is giuliano lomonte, who delivers an unbeatable groove courtesy of “reflections”. on the b is jorge gamarra & gulp from the sur label collective, who weave a tight combination of broken beats and 4x4 rhythms on “valve”, a track that comes complete with swelling synths and a modern, house flourish. closing off the package is another member of the sur collective crew, formas, whose track, “prisma”, really does take the listener on a proverbial journey. a real synth-infused masterpiece, it’s proof indeed that the next chapter in the brouqade story looks set to be every bit as exciting as what’s come before.
