conceived on a dark winters night, ‘we can only’ tells a sombre story of lust and heartache. the heavy kick and bassline beckon, leading to hypnotic guitars and sultry strings. euphoria ensues, questions are left unanswered, until a sweet female responds.
harry s second production, ‘love flow’, came together in a summer of romance. blissful horns and a sensual vocal carry us into a breakdown fit for a bahamian honeymoon. this one is for bringing people together and sharing love.
an edit from the shadow city boys flips harry’s ‘love flow’ on its head. the ‘only lover’s edit’ is a hazy excursion reminiscent of times gone by. plodding along like a 6am slog home. this solemn end brings us full circle, a record that meanders mesmerisingly from one mood to the next… the first of many.

it’s safe to say this release marks heist’s most international endeavor so far: next up we’ve got alma negra, 4 guys with roots in portugal, cabo verde, italy and spain, hailing from switzerland. they’re putting out an african influenced ep with german detroit afficionado soulphiction involved for a remix. afro lovers will probably know alma negra because of their great work on highlife, sofrito or basic fingers and we’ve been in touch with them for a long time to make this release happen. their 3 originals are a great showcase of their skills, blending traditional african music with contemporary house and techno.

language is a tricky thing. it’s possible to convey the most beautiful and heartfelt experiences with just a few words but meanings can be lost in translation. language itself being just a symbol pointing to the actual thing, like fingers pointing to the moon it’s key not to mistake the finger for the actual moon. if you do you might miss all the heavenly glory the finger is pointing to. the map is not the territory. kiani & his legion is back on sohaso with the next chapter in his sonic explorations. a mini-album that’s more than the sum of it parts, drawing you in with a story worth to be told. using a language that doesn’t need to be explained trough words, the symbols merge with their meaning trough sound. the story commences with a female voice whispering gently to you to ‘close your eyes and fly’ and while making your journey don’t forget to ‘breath’. you get introduced to the sturdy drum patterns and eerie string pads that have become main ingredients for kiani’s soundworld. eindeloos takes an irresistible groove and badass walking bass winding up between endless flanging spirals. oval flight starts out with the cheeky sound of an electric harp but inside it hides a seed that sprouts to enormous proportions. beneath the beauty you can feel something sweltering, wanting to expose itself. it links back to the beginning and finally lifts you off with a grand gesture. if you remember me then i don’t care if veryone else forgets, uses haunting atmospheres that remind of 80’s science fiction or the eerie vibes found in twin peaks to provide safe landing ground beneath the feet after your flight. l.o.v.e. forms an appropriate conclusion to the story, reflecting with a melancholic chord progression, soul healing choirs and the phonetic symbols ‘lima, oscar, victor, echo’ repeating till infinity.

play it say it welcome jasper james, one of the hottest artists of the day, for their next ep, calling upon rob mello to serve up some of his legendary no ears remixes to seal the deal on this fine package.

this june session victim return to delusions of grandeur imprint with their third studio album.listen to your heartis the result of a year of cross-continental scripting, started in their hamburg studio and wrapped up stateside in san francisco’s room g studios where the duo had worked on their 2014 lpsee you when you get there. here we present the first of three lp samplers containing four tracks each, cut nice and loud for the vinyl crew. bring it back gets things rolling with session victim’s trademark live drum breaks, looped up pads and hooky vocal samples. only good vibes here, with uplifting keys bringing a warm and soulful edge whilst shimmering juno notes add a floaty element to get lost in. next up we have if we can make it here, the title being something of an in-joke with the boys when they find themselves in the more remote or far-flung corners of the world performing their music to an appreciating crowd. the track is based around a simple yet beautiful 4-bar chord progression repeating throughout and shows svm in a playful and jazzy mood, managing to include soloing flute and marching snare drum rhythms without as much of a flinch!moons and flowers is up next, another sublime slice of hazy house music with a wonderful organic and live sound palette. echoing rhodes licks join dubby synth fx, adding waves of colour whilst the gentle vocal provides the icing on the space-cake. lastly we have the hatch, which winds things down somewhat for a lovely, somewhat stoned interlude track which is over all too soon. an impeccable demonstration of retro-inspired yet forward thinking house,listen to your heartsees session victim at the top of their game.

legendary dj daniele baldelli, who was resident at the infamous cosmic club on lake garda and pioneer of the cosmic sound, joins forces with italian maestro dj rocca and takes file under disco on a journey into outer disco space. famous as an extremely eclectic and open-minded dj, here baldelli transports this approach to the production of funkynoizer . and in the hands of a master producer like rocca the result is a track which fuses dub, afro, disco and electronic elements seamlessly into a tasty alternative discoid brew. remix action comes from brasilian duo selvagem (big fans of baldelli) whose reputation grows and grows with every spin of each record and every release that passes through their talented hands. here they dress the original in leopard skin pants and throw into into an all night, outdoor carnival party where anything goes. next up pete herbert & dicky trisco take the original on a heads down disco trip and work it to the bone. live driving bass, funky clav and a glorious piano line do a wonky waltz with the the afro dub essentials of the original. finally the man himself dj rocca treats us to a very classy disco-boogie version that would have rocked legendary parties back in the halcyon days of nyc disco

next up on accidental jnr are 2 club ready tracks from sydney producer cassius select that straddle genres somewhere between techno, bassline and hardcore. 90 is a gurgling brutal post-dubstep wobble fest at a house tempo whilst herd offers up select’s trademark idiosyncratic vocal snippets wrapped up in most broken and shuffled of techno rhythm . cassius select lives in the undefined sonic boroughs of the hardcore continuum. his first ep explored the grittier end of techno under australian label hunter gatherer followed by a 12- of unstable rhythm workouts under dj haus’ uttu label. the toronto native is hell bent on inciting movement in the most unorthodox ways. sonics crush genre-defining sounds into a pastiche of cryptic one liners and side eyes. drums that invoke an impossible sense of swing and momentum. most importantly select’s sound defines itself on the mission to deconstruct the world around him,to level out the playing field so everyone can have a bite. this year, select joins with uk imprint accidental jr. to release a two-track fury of sound that snarls with every grimace.

next up on detroit wax is a phenomenal two track ep from the prolific eddie fowlkes(techno originator - godfather of techno soul). renowned for their ability to seamlessly fuse together elements of urban techno & urban house and old school funky influences, and the dj production from the home land of detroit. side a. a deep vocals from naa dee(from the lu, swiss) has soulful ness that heats up the track into inspirational movement on the dance floor that just don t stop on the dance floor. side (b). this is a surefire dancefloor detroit destroyer that would be right at home in any dj s create already gaining heavyweight support from the likes of loco dice, norm tally, robert diezt, juan atkins, delano smith, shall i continue?

paul woolford has been seriously spreading his wings of late, becoming omni-present by landing his tracks with ease on labels like xl recordings, running back, houndstooth, hotflush and aus music. not wanting to be shackled by genres, paul comfortably serves up a wide variety of curveballs, from the technoid charge of his 4/4 persuasions to the exhilarating warped hardcore & jungle breaks of his much loved special request project. and so it’s with welcome arms that edible usher him to our release schedule, give him the comfy sofa and let him rip it up with two havoc-inducing cuts that are already a staple in label boss eats everything’s dj sets. title track ‘chaos’ finds paul in a particularly warped mode, bleepy synth pulses oscillate wildly over a granite hard beat as a single sub-bass tone drives the brain-scrambling flurry of modular tones into overdrive. a hydrochloric synth riff settles the bed, but only until the next haul of chaotic blips come firing out of the speakers - highly effective, and possibly deranged warehouse tackle. a future classic. flip side, and woolford shows off some decidedly more soulful chops on ‘meditate . a vocal hook plays against a dubwise bass line and ascending 909 rides, as a seductive and transcendental string arpeggio creeps to the fore and demands a breakdown of its own, serving up a serious bucket load of emotion. not a dry eye in the house.

i-lp-o in dub is the solo project of pan sonic member ilpo väisänen. capital dub chapter 1 follows the 2015 debut communist dub - a year marked by further descent into economic crisis and instability. the usual business cycles of production / distribution / consumption running alongside macro cycles of boom and bust have been replaced by ossification, austerity, the machine seizing up.
ilpo’s “circular riddims” complement the ebb and flow of the circulation of money + commodities and are mirrored by his field recordings of barcelona rain – the final phase of the cyclical movement of water. but of course the smooth running of “paradise capital” is unsustainable. destroyed techno and open spaces contend with sinister swarming atmospheres. a cash machine flickers. zeros and ones displace another factory. dub as decay – the ghostly remains of tracks eroded by time and technology. the “invisible hand” of the market spasms with tremors.
ferocious textural feedback as music for stock exchange crashes. the soundtrack to heaps of money hoarded by the hidden class. capital is value in motion, but there is nowhere to go. after the collapse, picturesque ruins. capital dub chapter 1 simply asks the question: what next?

while david moufang, also known as move d, certainly needs no introduction, the label polyfon remained a tip for insiders. it might seem like a long shot, but that’s probably what led to the fact that the paths of david moufang and wolfram both – one of the polyfon founders – crossed a few years back. the erfurt located imprint was mostly recognized for its underdog releases from berlin-based tomtomgroove (the funkman), steffen baldo aka ugly drums from cologne (basement amusement park, the next room) and even workshops mastermind lowtec who released his critically acclaimed angstrom ep with the thuringian label.

patrick vanos next installment on mos ferry takes you on a journey. industrealized ep is an adventure ride between techno and house with side trips into minimal or psychodelic areas. after his tape jam ep and the following remixes patrick did not sit back complacently. he mixed and compiled selected vibes, vol.5, was part of our mos ferry takeover boiler room in berlin and not to mention the long nights he spent in the studio for this release. the result is quality tunes right to the point.

ts004 compiles out of press and sought after gems by the likes of legends such as dan curtin, the rurals and merrick brown, plus one exclusive never released track by ewan jansen. ranging from deep and contemplative house to more jackin’ moods.

new years deal - delsins next trick is a debut double 12 from sentomea, an amsterdam native, real name sander schuurman, you might not have heard of but a real synth freak. exclusively producing his music in hardware-based live takes, and that gives rise to perfectly imperfect stuff that feels visceral and alive. often making music with a visual connection, this ep is full of versatile 909 beats and fizzing electronic textures. relative solace is up first and is a frosty house trip with bell textures and melancholic strings sounding all celestial and heavenly. wander is all about a sludgy 909 groove being lit up with bright strings and icy hi hat ringlets as dissonant pads stretch and skew all about the arrangement then fortitude boogie has classic detroit pads, a lovely broken rhythm and a funkateer bassline that makes the whole cut dance and emotional dance. fluid is more stripped back and clean, with rubbery 909 drums plodding below w atery, gurgling synth sounds up top and this most expressive and textural ep closes with the experimental fm synthesis that is matter with its raw, off beat grooves and glassy surfaces, and finally reminiscent, a horizontal, star gazing cut that encourages you to lay back and day dream in the grass.

up next on 20/20 vision we welcome the ever-diverse and evolving nathan jonson. following a decade of producing and dj ing as hrdvsion, nathan has stepped out under his birth name to mark a new stage in his career. cross colours is a perfect representation of this new stage, a hybrid of all the styles he has become renowned for. when we heard cross colours we were all in agreement that luke vibert would be the perfect remixer. luckily luke agreed too and turned in a killer take on the original, flirting with early rave and hardcore whilst keeping the electro aesthetic. the b side is rounded off with a club focused version from ralph lawson & rui-z (which has already being championed by seth troxler on his most recent essential mix) and a dark techno rework from exciting new 20/20 signing dokta, who you can expect to hear a lot more from this year.

schmer-007 smoking is still bad for you volume 1 is here and contains old school and new cool tracks from all the original schmer culprits plus some loops from our new friends. dietrich schoenemann and prototype 909 dug their tracks out of their vast archives of unreleased originals. dj rx-5 and bpmf delivered some hot new schmers to get us moving again. for the last 20 years we’ve all been tormented by the great issues facing mankind and most vexing among them of course was when will the next schmer record finally come out? i am happy to say that the answer, my record distributing friend, is now! prototype 909 demands that you ( redacted ) the volume! a track recorded in 1997 and finally getting released for the first time here. prototype 909 was a group from new york that made techno in the 90s. since then, the three members of this group all went on to do things. #truefacts dietrich schoenemann has been so busy being one of the last men cutting all the records in the world that he hasnt had time to organize his catalog of unreleased gems. i distracted him with the old look over there trick and stole 8 feet from him while he wasn t looking. (hopefully he didn t recognize it while he was mastering it) the last schmer vinyl was dj rx-5 a taste for crap ep from the then moscow based very underground dj compass vrubell. nina kraviz thought it was so crappy she put a track from it on fabric 91: nina kraviz, so i asked alexey to make some more crap. he did it his shway and this is the result. ( ps he still has all the patterns for the rx-5 from the original release so remaster, remixes and rereleases are in schmer s future, huzzah!) bpmf the original schmer artist had nothing better to do so he kommt back and gave us this track. we love to torture the engineer so we just had to include some loops: rhizome is the alter-ego of moscow wunderkind nikita zabelin. philly based hero/victim has been victimizing soundsystems up and down the east coast with his mad live performances. the wise caucasian is a pseudonym for some super famous london based producer and label owner, or at least thats what he claimed when i picked up his bar tab.

matuss takes techno and turns it on its head. the cybernetic sound has been filled with human emotion, giving it a more organic feel than much of the music that would fall under the genre. she opens her absence seizure 007 ep in trademark style, with a dark jacking cut entitled pitchureque, in which a pulsating bass line throbs alongside ominous acid swells and disorientating panning effects. next up, tektango takes a different route honing in on a set of live tribal tinged percussion, which sway and dissipate with hypnotic effect driven further into the depths with a bubbling synth lead and filtering atmospherics. this live percussion gives the track that organic feel mentioned earlier. escapade kick starts the b-side with a robust rhythm, built from the ground up with resonant hi hat stabs, echoing claps and sturdy kicks which forms the framework for a deranged lead melody laced with wide open synths and emotive chords to carry the groove. closing the package is fonque, where flanger-tinged snare rolls work in unison with driving rhythms, delicate arpeggios and an intricate 303 bass line to create an infectious closing cut.

elusive rec head honcho, slavaki, claims back the label-reigns for the next instalment of signature elusive quality material. the ep comes in shape of a 180g vinyl limited to 300 numbered copies and is moments away from becoming a collectors item, not to mention that it is being made available well ahead of a digital release. dont sleep on it! 4 track offering is compiled of entirely new material that exhibits slavakis constantly evolving sound and is bound to pleasantly surprise both the fans of his sold out debut lp and the new audience alike. the opening in circles is a pulsating experimental minimal groove that miraculously resolves into a lush sonorous landscape. sunday rain takes the listeners on a wondrous aural trip-out while masterfully wrapping them around a solid, yet understated dub carcass. escalator picks up with contagious bass line which is guaranteed to make the dancefloors move. the ep culminates in vinyl-only dub wonder herb. the track is immediately danceable, heavily mulch-layered, politically poignant and benefits from the bottomless depth of vocals. this is slavakis way of thanking every single one of us who are supporting the vinyl format and a sure way to make your sets stand out in the sea of uniform mixes compiled of digitally available content. from the start the track bubbles with positive vibrations and touches the listeners in those most hard to reach places. not least due to advanced mixing and mastering technique insuring that stereo signal gets a unique multidimensional feel to it. the message is simple, its more than a perfectionism, its a disease! just play is slavakis way of making sure that no matter which format you chose, you will find something special to help you surpass those who are not prepared to dig deep enough. with a range of new material this wide and quality of production and execution this high elusive028 is not only the disease but the cure as well. hear it and get infected!

the first inner shift encounter with ewan jansen was several years ago on a pair of test pressings, from mike grant of moods and grooves. the label hadn t even begun yet, but ewan created a huge impression and wasn t to be forgotten by them later. ffwd to 2016/17, enter: return to hyperbola. the first track in, you get a good tech house/deep house vibe called docking lane , fully equipped with lovely atmospheres, a driving kick and intelligent chords. next is bulkhead, mainly defined by a full-sounding, broken beat rhythm and expressive keyboards. b1 is deceleration , another 4-4 deep house number, but witha subtle quirkiness and over all moody feel. on the b2 is perspex, featuring a funky bass, nice pads and elevating keyboard part. dont miss out, ewan never fails to impress.

zk bucket is on fire delivering another nuclear bomb, next to his great outcats oddity release, on his own zaun imprint. it s hard to find words for this stuff.

illegal alien next catalog number iarltd006 belongs to italian artist and illegal alien member, mari mattham. instinct is the name of his brand new work and includes three remixes by xhin, fabrizio lapiana and iori, all of them providing outstanding interpretations of instinct.

our next release is coming from phil evans. phil is also part of the new generation of dj’s and producers that are hailing from the rhein-main area around frankfurt. together with his best mate markus sommer he is running the label pager records. he caught our attention already a while ago and so we were quite happy to receive the tracks for this ep from him. he has a lot of personality in his productions already and his musical range is also quite large going from hip hop to house, but also more stripped down stuff or chicago house references can be found in his music selection and influences. besides that he is a lovely and very sympathetic young man and so it is definitely worth keeping an eye on him, because he is on fire.

next up on tomorrow is now, kid! is an ep from rutilance recordings owner, dj steaw. the french artist crafted four sturdy tracks on this fresh ep. it is a perfect blend between chicago and new york house, with a big splash of acid throughout the disc. the hypnotising percussion and grimy sounds take you to new, unforeseen places. keywords for best describing this 12inch are, beyond any doubt, deep and vigorous. enjoy these four definite killers in the club.

the next release on zone is another mighty one, this time from electro and techno duo mikron with a great remix from the exaltics. mikron is a no nonsense duo who have already put out a full length this year in the form of warning score on central processing unit. as well as that cohesive opus, they have credits on this label dating back to 2012 and have the sort of high impact, toughened style that always makes a mark.

bondage-music head honchos pornbugs prep the labels next release for early april comprising three original tracks and a remix from mihai popoviciu. since 2006, german duo pornbugs have been pushing their minimal yet ambitious dance floor orientated house music through clubs across the globe, with their label bondage-music acting as a catalyst for forward thinking music. bondage-music also works as an outlet for other talented producers including romania’s mihai popoviciu and inmotion music signee markus homm to further develop their sound. fresh from a string of early 2017 digital releases from frink and sous sol, april sees bondage-music’s first vinyl offering of the year, kick started with the subtle and melodic cut “when you are gone“, which takes a deep groove and laces it with a plethora of soft synths and atmospherics. mihai popoviciu then reworks “when you are gone“ into a different entity, rewiring a headier groove into the track with raw-defined hats, building further tension with tight synth stabs and ethereal pads. vinyl only track “innocent“ then takes tribal tinged percussion to new depths, fuelling it with booming kicks and flourishing chords, further intensified by swirling vocals. a pure dub aesthetic then shines through “maritza“, as saturated drums and a rumbling low end provide the skeleton for swelling synths to meander alongside spiritual vocals, closing out the package.

one of the uks most exciting and versatile young talents, route 94, is the next to make his mark on crosstown rebels with mind, body & soul featuring a body rhythm soul version from nyc’s joaquin joe claussell. cohort and leftroom boss matt tolfrey is also onboard, collaborating on second track habitual. the title track sets the tone of the release by heading straight into the late night hours with varied drum workouts and inspiriting keys that compliment the meaningful vocal. while habitual, produced alongside fellow londoner matt tolfrey who has been a mainstay dj, producer and label owner in the underground house and techno scene for over a decade, is electric and sensual with an enticing bassline. damian lazarus has enlisted influential nyc head and ibadan label co-founder, joaquin joe claussell to deliver a stunning body rhythm soul version, remixed in reference to his infamous body & soul sunday parties. here he delivers delectable keys and soothing brass tones as the serve of the day. route 94 aka rowan jones shot to fame, hitting no.1 in the uk charts with my love featuring jess glynne. keeping things largely underground, he followed with releases and remixes on leftroom, defected and hot creations. overwhelming success ensued as he performed at the likes of fabric, sub club, space, ushuaia, dc10 and many more. with an abundance of new material about to drop and a packed calendar of gigs already booked in for the coming year, this is only the start for the talented artist.

the underground anthems just keep on coming from seth troxler’s play it say itlabel. next up is assured party starter and snatch! label boss, riva starr. this italian hit maker has long been delivering off-kilter and playful underground house tunes. he does so on his own label as well as cajual and hot creations, always injecting them with plenty of colour and charm, which help them stand out in any set. these latest two offerings are no different, and are sure to blow up dance floors all over the world. first up is the arresting title track, ‘another dimension’, a skewed and sideways house cut with booming bass, bumpy drums and quirky trumpets going off in all directions. it’s a grinding groove that will drill to the heart of any ‘floor and really set it alight. then comes ‘another race’, a much deeper and more direct tune for heads down dancing. it has surging kicks and synths, slinky percussion and an irresistible sense of forward motion that will sweep up all those who hear it. clever filters bring real tension, teasing out plenty of pressure and ensure this one is another modern classic in the making. these are two powerful tracks from riva starr that are sure to make a real impact this spring and mark another standout release from seth troxler’s ever impressive play it say it.

up next on good company records is tourist kid s under armour suite , a power ambient head cleaner in four parts, built for the club, and best enjoyed at high volume. originally recorded in a sweltering bedroom in hawaii, the a-side pits rolling virtual piano against heavyweight clouds of crisp dsp that jitter and jostle at 125 bpm for this, local audio/visual artist rory glacken s first vinyl release. on the flip, the suite is reworked by basic mind, one half of gcr alumni long body, who lures a blowfly house stomper from the original s minimal, digital dusk. packaged in a disarmingly plain black sleeve !
