after a very techno first release, unanim returns with another approach of the genre. it is herodot who delivers two very different tracks for his duo ep.
silent record rules the first side of this vinyl and its a monster. the rolling bassline and the powerful percussion are backed by tripping background noises. you cand also hear french experimentalist duo radiomentalle and david toops distorted voice. this one is definitely not silent and 100% destined for the dancefloor.
on a more subtle note side b features tul which is not as * loud* and a bit tool-ish. lurking sounds populate the background and the shakers provide a percussive feeling throughout the track. techno hasnt left the building !

in part 2 of the laffer ep marco bernardi is going head down, straight ahead and striving for energy. attack of the dessert stormers is an overload of dark electro power, six minutes of squirming bassline-driven movement with surges of intensity from analogue bleeps and subtle drum pattern shifts. theres no let up on the flip side where two sliders brings equal force but in a more techno style. right from the start youll be grabbed by the bassline, but this one rewards extended listening as the track develops progressively with new melodies and metallic touches taking you deeper and deeper.

the second volume of bushwick is melting features original unreleased material by brooklyn-based producers black meteoric star, lorna dune, and j. slusher. gavin russom apparently has a new black meteoric start lp on the way and we can t wait based on the epic, sweeping grandness that is the 18 minute a-side hogger unearthed arcana which is quite hypnotic when in full flight. the b-side finds lorna dune putting her experiments with the piano to one side to focus on some celestial house moves with reflux which will appeal to fans of legowelts more star gazing moments whilst the wonderfully named j. slusher closes out the record with the face melting techno cut night train

we are happy to introduce deeper meaning s 5th project on the typical for our label 12 vinyl record format. this time its a selection of 4 tracks by various artists with whom we had been connected musically for a long time. with some of them we ve been releasing music on our digital label etoka records ever since 2009. both sides representing the very best of our label s sound vision. although the tracks are produced by a number of artists and each one of them is showing his own musical individuality, every composition applies perfectly into one immaculate deep release. compliments to anton lanski, adverb, warmth, federsen, for shaping up this project.

this release marks a new beginning for berkovi, better known for his tougher music man, force inc, djax and harthouse releases over recent years. after haunting the bside of one release too many, a reboot into a more beloved and emotional techno template is obviously reaping dividends. according to the man himself, this is no trend following phenomenon: i ve always produced deeper music, more often than not even years ago was always pushed to b sides of eps or remixes but now it s the main thing i want to do, techno with soul. after releasing a lot of more melodic material on labels such as eevonext and an album for trapez a few years ago i want to return to solely concentrating on this style for my music and live sets

fantastic remastered reissue of a masterpiece of the golden era of nyc deep house, the incredible love is a mystery ep by tropical moon (aka legendary producers nelson paradise roman & blue jean), their one and only release under that moniker. originally released back in 1990 every track here is a killer - the a side features the underground smash love is a mystery with its beautiful emotive pianos, classic lush strings and gorgeous vocal followed by the relentless drum groove of its alright. on the flip we get another club classic, the tribal bouncer jungle house as well as the darker after-party vibe of data bank with its phat b-line, deep chords and superb sleazy vocal. pure class!

after three years, ascion and d.carbone return with *substructures*, their most experimental release to date on their label 3th. the a-side of this record holds two droney offbeat tracks, *ram expedients* and *lo-fi fields*, combining a rare/abstract and genuine mix of middle-eastern electronics, cyberpunk and uk warehouse techno. the b-side contains the tracks that are responsible for the nomenclature of this release: *substructures one/two*. being more oriented to genres such as idm and rave techno, they are characterized by powerful beats and cutting edge ambients and vocals. both tracks have been recorded during one of their live performances in london 2013.

where -oh year- takes you more to the funky side, -dayrun- is a more techno influenced trip to the dephts of the night. with the hypnotic synths and wobbly bassline it invites you to loose yourself in the dance. on the other side, the detroitesque strings, that glimpse up during the break and the pushing hihats, it leaves you with a smile and your hands in the air. to complete this fabulous ep, markus throws in some percussion and extra deep basslines on -pingel pangel snop-. a track that is filled up with funk & soul, designed to be nothing but a house track with a twinkle in one s eye. a true groove monster.

gynoid audio maintains it s ltd series with a new split ep containing much character, coarse-grained attitude, thrilling sequences and delightful soul. on one side we have the follow up of the -procurators- by mattias fridell, exquisitely paired with a mechanically grooving remix by tomohiko sagae. turning the plate reveals the minimalistic and focused purist techno cut by future 16, the -filaments pt4-. who else would be better suited to put a soulful and zealous twist on the latter than zadig obviously no one. hopefully you ll enjoy this package of music as much as we did assembling it!

the a1 was never a big surprise. mattias fridell s consumed for profit was one of the tracks of the year, and surely fridell s personal best track, and was played by anyone who at least plays a bit of techno in their sets. the usual fridell quality of standard and a tight synth line! a2 sees french artist electric rescue s quarries in the a. mochi remix. a peak-time banger, slapping the synth stabs right into your face. this one always gets the floor jumping. the b-side kicks off with label-head advance human s pure , stripping things down to some essential moody but slamming techno, right up there amongst his best productions. b2 has +platform s mosses closing things off, and as we came to know and love from +platform, it s out there, dubby and dreamy techno, born for those deeper berghainesque floors.

early support from raresh, fred p. julietta, dana ruh!! after a first year of spellbinding releases, sol asylum returns in 2015 with a fresh various artist’s compilation featuring three finely crafted tracks from the sol asylum crew to kick-start the labels second year. bringing together a family of artists who have been there since the very beginning. starting off with the odd boys danny and damian, we go all the way back to the first release with a brand new remix of broken spell. whisking us away to a parallel universe of this odyssey, this remix is masterly conjured into a percussive exploration of the planet of odd. following the odd ones, julie marghilano unleashes another side of sol asylum with dragon drops. she unveils her known atmospheric soundscapes but with a heavily detailed rhythmic twist, made by experimenting with her field recordings to create a more stripped down sound that shows her range and versatility. last but certainly not least, miss jools calima brings the ep to a triumphant closure like a mystical fog. the elements of the track melt into drowning synths with crackling percussion and the elegantly designed grooves that levitate us steadily through the hypnotic melodies. the percussive strength of each track, while still being diverse links this collaboration of like-minded family members together as a cohesive potion.

midgar is proud to introduce a newcomer for the third release. a great debut for the maltese cloned, delivering not less than 4 cuts with sapphire 1990 e.p. the record, way more straightforward and groove centered than the previous midgar outputs, opens with sapphire 1990, track that sounds like very nostalgic memories from a timeless rave. thanks to a genuine simplicity and the great arrangement of its elements, this first cut has the perfect characteristics to become a dancefloor anthem. on the same side, a live out-take from cloned’s repertory, the pendulum swinging synth-lines which dominate pretty direct rhythmics filled with hi-hats and claps over a costant background noise. belgassem as the first cut on the b side, is an absolutely heavy one for the label’s standards, made of deep kickin’ drums and haunting voices empowered by a really strong and obsessive acid-line. closing the vinyl, the slow (and again really acidic) submerging is like a lysergic vessel headed to more comfortable dimensions, where groovy drums are embraced by very bright heavenly pads. sudden death is instead a chilled-out broken beat interrupted by confused speeches and detroitish pads, resulting as a modern ritual of ascension towards higher spheres. corel drives the release to the end, recalling most of its main features: a restless run through misty soundscapes along a path studded of bells and overwhelming, sharp hi-hats.

despite refusing to stick to a single genre, deft is one of those immediately recognisable producers, which is nice because it means we dont have to waste any time comparing him to anyone else. 2013 saw the croydon man skilfully hopping from headphone to dance styles, often within a track, his signature blend of cinematic soundscapes and crisp, intricate percussion covering hip-hop, house, and ambient. whats more, his noteworthy contributions to the burgeoning uk footwork scene means the young producer can now count mark pritchard, dj shadow and rockwell among his biggest fans, and boy does this boy have fans, check this bandcamp review of his project mooncircle ep voight kampff: anything this magician puts out has a pretty good chance of getting you pregnant right in the good old music hole. says it all really

we are deeply proud of all our music here at hizou. our latest release, however, we believe is just that little bit special. because we welcome to the label a producer we much admire and also proudly call our friend, w & p hgg aka hugo giner, owner of the formidable cornuta sound imprint. and his ep, down for heaven, is notable also for marking the debut of a new partnership, the sons of empire, otherwise known as those two masters of the deep, ernie from minuendo recordings and dubbyman of deep explorer. it is giner’s unique soul, however, that takes centre stage with side one devoted entirely to its 13 minutes of glorious, irresistible and uplifting house odyssey. on the reverse comes welcome, a chunkier though equally hypnotic slab of sly deepness, ably supported by the sons of empire remix which takes the track to a more chilled and, dare we say, funkier celestial plane.

volume one of a two-volume twelve-inch set featuring tunes from eamon harkin and justin carters mix cd, weekends and beginnings. this volume features a beatless ambient acid journey from bass clef, an obscure gem from nebraska, and a long sought after maurice fulton remix of alice smiths love endeavor. maurices remix is cut to a full side of vinyl at 45rpm, and both sides were mastered by the ever extraordinary matt colton. it sounds phenomenal!

special dub version of mandingos original track, another night on earth. this is an extended alternate version of the original which appears on bc009_909 modern underground v.3. it sounds like a spaced out house groove with some chicago style stabs, jamaica style rubs and detroit style chords. this is a strictly limited one-sided 12 release.

the soul notes imprint has never restricted itself to just one sound. ever since it emerged in late 2011, the basque county based outfit has shown several sides of its identity and has developed into a diverse and well balanced home. one of the labels usual suspects is cologne native, adryiano. after reaping some havoc with his efforts on the snx series early last year, adryiano has been crafting his down south ep (ironically) somewhere in the north rhine-westphalian concrete jungle. the down south ep is buldging with deep sine basses, fine rhythmic synthwork and lavish but hefty beats. the title track showcases these exact things best. the essence of adryiano s latest effort is still somewhat hard to pin down. a lot of different moods are going on throughout the ep while the overall sounds maintains it s own glance. from the deep machinefunk on down south to the broken beats of feel what you do. all of these bits have a nice theme to them.

currently causing quite a stir on the underground, the jerome hill remix of marshall jeffersons s trax classic lost in the groove is a complete re-interpretation, solid jacking (hard) house music using the original vocal that s cut loud onto the vinyl and worms inside your head and has been doing serious damage in the clubs and festivals last year. now with all licensing and red tape cleared away, it s set for release. dancer boom boom is actually a collaboration between acid legend adonis and sidney winters, with a mix down by house legend frankie knuckles. this sat on the b side of am a dog on trax records and is rare & obscure to say the least, but once the needle touches the groove you know it s a killer. massive kick drums and mysterious organ scales, this one is a mad mad tune ! produced in 1987 (and sounding like nothing else from that year) it s been given a very slight and very respectful re-arrangement by jerome hill, remastered and cut super loud. strictly limited and if the previous titles on the label are anything to go by, this one will sell out equally quick.

both the dub version and the listen up vox mix of give you some rest on the a-side. opening with percussion, the impending rhythmic baseline quickly grabs our attention. darius throws us some vocal sampling in the vox mix, creating an outstanding raw and iconic house vibe. flipping it over, we find drop your gimmicks on the b-side. this one is a bit more serious and bit less bouncy. with a deeper bass line that tells you what time it is, and the percussion to keep your feet shuffling, the track is, as darius put s it true house music .

having established deepsystems as a radio show some years back, matt pond (one third of the bittersuite collective) has decided to launch a record label under the same name. given his contacts, it s a smart move. two close pals - bittersuite member jon gray and dan 1dan rodgers - join forces as tales ov rossi, laying down a slowly shifting chunk of deep, heads-down house that stretches across one side of the 12-. on the flip, gray goes solo under the bittersuite banner, delivering the two-part -familiar currents-. both versions sound heavily inspired by the dense percussion, expansive musicality and rich soundscapes of ron trent.

for the timely tenth edition of the grey series, m_rec ltd welcomes back donor / truss to the fold. whilst tom russell has been lately flexing his truss muscles with perc and causing a furore as blacknecks with bleaching agent, donors greg schappert has been busy readying his dystopic debut album, against all. after last years swampy aber for their first grey series outing, ash sees the production partnership revived in the form of a trio of gritty, excursive techno works. starting with cut one on the a-side, ash simultaneously builds and decomposes, eked along with hypnotic loops and irritated layers of noise to conclude in a creaking industrial crescendo on the b-side.

it has been a long time between drinks for german band bambi - and it is something of a triumphant return, too. last time we heard from them, back in 2000, they were a post minimal rock duo comprising of guitarist/vocalist robin van velzen and drummer hans christian fuss. a decade and a half of live improvisation and a multitude of collaborations later, they return as a balearic rock four-piece. the bands newest members, former mountaineer man frank mollena and sofia fuss, were asked to join following a particularly successful series of live collaborations and improvisational jams. through balearic post-rock territory, with van velzens weary, emotional vocals riding a wave of vibrant colours, backwards hazy, intoxicating and evocative, it sounds like a horizontal anthem in the making. one sided, hand numbered, limited to 500 copies.

so the story goes: a few years ago i played a cool underground party in stockholm with my good friend and crazy record collector mark seven. early on that night mark played me this beautiful and melancholic piece of music. mark happily handed me his spare copy and my record collection for a second felt a little more complete… originally released as a b-side track to als slipshod ep on out of the loop the track continued to mesmerize whenever i played it and the fact that so many people loved it and equally as many didn’t know the record i though a re-release could be a great idea. it’s inclusion on gerd janson’s recent sonar kollektiv compilation and the fact that it’s been played by legendary dj harvey ( o bearded one as he’s known to by the initiated)has obviously helped to spread it’s fame to. now hopefully showing it’s full potential we bring you the remastered “lullaby for robert” with a whole bunch of remixes made with love by remixers spellbounded by it’s magic. on part 1 we bring you : the original + bogdan irkük remix part 2 will include reworks by mark seven, gatto fritto and yours truly toot toot beep beep,

the idea of merging recordings of different instruments and sounds appeared out of recording harp for an audiobook. the result are 4 innovative, unpredictable and completely homeproduced tracks on the a-side of the record, which negates the cliché of the harp as an apparently benign tool for gentle and smooth tunes. in order to go one step further in breaking tradition-steeped sounds there are 3 remixes from 3 different artists coming from the more technoid world of music (technical grief, carina posse, mod.civil) on the b-side. there you’ll find the attempt to alienate the original instruments and let them coalesce with danceable electronic sounds in a new context. the 12- is on black vinyl, packaged in a silkscreen print cover and limited to 200 pieces.
