dubline records unveils their next release by the neurodub duo that runs the dubline camp - melamin & wicked sway. the theory behind this production outfit is balance. neurologically the human brain percieves information to be incomplete if it is not symmetrical. in a practice of endless work ethic the sound design interfaces perfected beats that have an even balance of elements. the process in which people follow music as a path is implied in the waking of the conscious mind while in it spirit. the thought process of their approach to neuro is always written for the peoples natural instinct to follow obvious paths of information that can be used to direct the appliance of listening as a being of light tunes in and drops out the appropriate information. thus by drawing attention to the information the focus remains to show the difference between the foreground and background. a focal point is intended to encourage the listener to always furthur the exploration of the information presented. using elements that are different to show that they are clearly different components of presented information and yet both also with similarity to those of the same reference. its simply easier for ones step towards enlightenment in the experience of being human to realize the thought process and recognize the ego, reminding at the expense of the thinking brain that its cheaper to die.

jin choi is a musician, producer, dj and live artist based in berlin, germany. equally focused on groove and melodic structures, his music fuses electronic and naturalistic sounds to move the head and body. once coined modern minimal, chois productions are equal parts emotion, melody and rhythm. full range is his first release on serialism records. in a recent interview, choi described himself as a burial loving music-nerd who is simply trying to create his own musical language. he has released on lessizmore, contexterrior, romanphoto & archipel, to name a few. for ser10, he joins forces with maceo plex (aka maetrik, the moniker he saves for his darker techno productions) to do just that. most known for his recent revered deep-house single, vibe your love on crosstown, plex makes the release the perfect late-night tool. first up is full range, a dubby tech-house number with ominous and increasingly glitchy repetitive vocals that remind the listener of what choi seems to already know - music is the universal language, music is no longer irrelevant. next, half baked, the eps star, manages to perfectly fuse industrial sounds with melody making a blissed-out, deep- house track. mysterious squeaks, hisses and factorial inner workings provide the backdrop while warm time-stretched freestyle vocals guide us through the production. maceos deep remix is around 9-minutes of chicago house inspired sounds layered with snappy high hats and emotive chords.

after the roaring success of nicolas jaars space is only noise album the fine curatorial heads at circus company hq have enlisted 2 of their nearest, dearest and most talent co-conspirators for the first round of remix duties. having built a cult following and peerless reputation for his remixes of everyone from roy ayers to cassius, pépé bradock turns in no less than 3 versions of too many kids finding rain in the dust. the proceedings begin with his blind pig mix, an echoing tunnel of balkan strings and dusty samples connecting the lands of disco and hip hop to blinding effect. the train fantôme poke follows and is certain to find its way into many a discerning dj bag in the weeks and months to come, with its mathew herbert-esque syncopations and grinding industrial scrapes and psychedelic whispers. dave aju takes up the baton on the flip turning the albums title track into the kind of late 80s dance floor work out martin hannet would have been proud of, certain to appeal to fans of recent work by matias aguayo, rebolledo and the comeme camp.

celebrated spanish techno artist ascii.disko returns to biatch corp for release number 13 on the label with two divergent remixes from taster peter and jussi-pekka. the original version is an intriguing slice of rough hewn techno, exactly the kind of ruggedness on the dance floor ascii.disko has become well-known for. rising italian techno producer taster peter significantly re-works the track in to a dark, peak hour chugger complete with rolling drums and polyrhythmic glee that cannot be easily ignored. rounding out the three-track release is a remix from finnish star jussi-pekka. giving the source material a wild ride that combines a shuffling house beat, funky latin percussion, and even a slight hint of yello. his re-interpretation strips away the industrial strength techno edge of the original and replaces it with a warm, inviting deep house vibe that will get dance floors jumping for joy.

italian techno heavyweights markantonio and rino cerrone finally name their collaborative ventures after ten years of gigs and productions together, and the name is junction hands. revolution is back is the first full release under the junction hands moniker, following a well received outing as part of the recent the napoli connection ep on adam beyers drumcode and it sees the two veterans deliver some of their strongest work yet. the title track is a pacey number with a reverb soaked yet warm atmosphere which underpins an aggressive, simple and incredibly effective bass/drum loop which gains intensity throughout. sharp sounds puncture the groove here there which keeps things interesting but its the discordant stabs in the break which push things into overdrive. the equally hypnotic and driving thing for hands follows but manages to do so with an increased feeling of woozy menace. synths feedback on themselves to shattering crescendos before subsiding into waves of noise while the groove relentlessly works its magic. with junction hands theres yet another must-check name coming out of the neapolitan scene.

we are happy to welcome a new artist into our family. young jose pouj is one of the new emerging talents from the spanish techno scene. his speciality is hard edged techno, but with a touch of class. a sound carefully crafted and skilfully developed. his blood poisoning ep starts with waken, a scientific techno number with a solid rhythm arrangement, fat basses and sharp synth workout, a funky electronic steamroller designed for body and mind. the b side opens with sepsis, a harder approach to modern techno with a strong drum programming, sweeping drones, an arpeggiated bassline and a bunch of bleeps that appear and disappear throughout the arrangement. an anabolic track that slowly goes to a mental break and turns once more to madness. the release closes with organic return, where the main course is made up of carefully programmed synthetic drums, till an emb-flavoured bassline comes into the track, reminding us of the good old pulsinger style. summing up, this is the work of a great young producer that injects new blood into our label. watch out for forthcoming adventures of this new talent.

normal service is resumed on nu directions, returning to 170bpm with an offering from some of the drum & bass scenes most forward-thinking producers, triad. triad is the name given to german duo henree and basstikal. both established producers in their own right, their meeting of minds has given their productions new depth and a totally original approach to drum & bass. releases on dsm, critical and horizons, plus their excellent remix of omars >lay it down<, have laid the foundations for what is to be a fruitful 2011 for this collaborative project. >crooked< is a shuffling minimal work-out which uses dense atmospheres and growling bass stabs to create a haunting mood, before breaking into its techno fuelled, energy soaked finale. >the puzzle< again captures triads unique ability to create musical soundscapes. with light snappy beats and deep stirring synths creating a track that sounds as fresh today as it will in 10 years time, future music.

the second vinyl sampler features the production skills of some very exciting, emerging new artists. first up is deep space orchestra from the uk. having recently caught the eye of gilles peterson and top house imprints like delusions of grandeur, it seems that dsos music is now starting to get the attention that it deserves. andy ash from liverpool is another producer who has been consistently turning out top quality underground house sounds for a number of years now, most notably for the revenges l.e.s.s. edits series. meanwhile, italian producer nicholass blend of disco edits and original 90s house sounds has been creating quite a stir, and has seen his standing as a producer grow weekly with various releases on imprints like small world disco, mo more hits, kojak & dikso already, as well as an increasing demand for remix work.

the opening track from the debut simon baker album was always going to be a strong choice to be the first single. no pressure has received unanimous praise since the albums release and is back with new remixes by art department and simon himself. its rare to get great stand out vocal tracks that dont split opinion, but this seems to be one of them. its slick, deep house of the highest calibre with a stand out hooky vocal from debukas. art department, owners of ras number one track of 2010 drop a superb remix, adding new vocals and teasing debukas back into the mix for a pretty special, hypnotic workout. simons >upstate dub< mix finishes things off. it aims things directly at the dancefloor in his signature, deep and twisting style.

after the brilliant work with tigerlily on the digitaline track >say so<, gregorythme teamed up again with the lovely singer and created another epic masterpiece. >no time no space< has the potencial to become one of this years big anthems, with tigerlilys great voice, the catchy melody and the unbelievable synthline staying in your head for a long time! kalabrese and lee jones both kept the epic feeling of the original. kalabrese added his unique funk and kind of a caribic touch to it. imagine a lonely beach with nothing else to do as watching the stars out there. lee reworked tigerlilys voice, combined it with a massive bass and takes it a step darker into the night, made for dancefloors and big soundsystems!

time 2 express is on a roll! sqeezing out harsh yet hypnotic techno of the highest order. the 4th instalment in the 61 center returning series is an all belgo-italian affair. as on vol. 3 the a side is taken up by peter van hoesen and donato dozzy. with >dock< they present a dense, psychedelic track: bubbling percussion works its way through swirls of oscillating soundscapes. >dock< envelops the listener in a thick, gentle blanket, slowly increasing the pressure as the track unfolds over 9 minutes. on the b-side stroboscopic artefacts main brain lucy reports for remix duty. >defense against the self> was originally released on peter van hoesens >entropic city< album. lucy provides the track with a solid dose of steroids, injecting cavernous kicks and bleeps. his version widens the impact of the original, while adding his very own personal take on techno. viva italia...

such is the importance of russells contribution to the modern music scene that many consider his work to be untouchable but several modern day producers have carefully picked out key elements of his songs whilst recording entirely new and up to date soundtracks. yam who?, faze action, singer mary moore, nycs pocketknife have worked hard to create entirely new instruments and vocals with additional remix work coming from radio slave. in addition peter gordon who worked with arthur russell on many of the original releases has collaborated. adding his musicianship to the newly created cover of >go bang<. further collaborations from arthurs friends and musicians, steven hall & joyce kirby, also provide a new version of >lucky cloud< which is produced by nycs pocketknife.

when two highly experienced producers and djs like guido schneider and jens bond join forces you can guarantee that fans of electronic dance music will go weak at the knees. no wonder also, that their previous collaborations have always been extremely well recieved. indeed, their dubut release >oh my buffer< from 2004 can still be found residing in many record boxes around the world. after their recent exclusive release >getting sleepy< on highgrade, the berlin label now eagerly awaits the next edition from the super duo. the two tracks >bob & curly< and >out of sight< clearly showcase the rhythmic abilities of former drummer jens bond with crisp beats that get straight to the point. coupled with the ability of guido schneider to create subtle arrangements with original compositions and a sophisticated sound palette, the result is a densely atmospheric work. the tracks travel a path through warm rhythms and psychedelic vocals to the heart of the musical jungle.

welcome reissue of this super-rare 1978 disco classic from greek singing superstar demis roussos. the extended mix of l.o.v.e. got a hold of me featured on this highly-collectable canadian 12 inch pressing from mercury was a massive favourite of david mancusos at his legendary loft parties and understandably so. a tight percussive groove topped with beautiful swirling strings and the big mans soaring sexy vocals, this special long version provides ten minutes of blissful dubbed-out disco heaven which still rocks dancefloors today for any dj lucky enough to have a copy. the flip is also rather good, with i just live, a very useful funky workout with another positive message that includes some fantastic percussion and great harmonica action. top class!

>bussin down< is the first planet mu single from chrissy murderbot, who comes with a style inspired by his chosen city of chicagos juke and footwork scenes. he playfully mixes in elements of other styles of music he loves, such as rnb and dancehall, to create lively mutations with a warm hearted mass appeal that comfortably straddles genres. >bussin down< features chicago footwork supremo dj spinn over some tasty footwork tracks featuring spinns instructional lyrics, over some high speed jazz funk and cracking claps and klaviers. next track >braaain< is a unique amalgam of footwork with the classic early digital sleng teng bassline. the blend works fantastically, as chrissy slides the originals vocal in and out of the mix in a dub style. on the b-side atki2 takes album track >the vibe is so right< featuring vocals from mc zulu and runs it through a lush treatment that mixes detroit washes with tight, laidback, rolling funky house drums, to instant classic effect. on b2, chicago footwork pioneers djs rashad and spinn send the originals vocal into a whirl of complex delays and layered loops over cold drums and hard techno stabs. just the faintest taste of what is in store on the m-bots incredible >womens studies< album due soon on planet mu.

after the emotive release of rick howard, its time for hhyr to step it up a notch again with fellow chicagoian ricardo miranda, who already gave us >black acid< last year and also was featured on rick wilhites >vibes< compilation. <br (/>>floorwax< urges us to do the damn thing, assuming that he leaves us no choice but to slam dance to this hypnotic acid work out, which reminds us slighly of earlier dj funk material. >redline< further explores the boundaries of acid house originale. it starts out with just drums and a pulsating acid line, but halfway through a utopian string line eases in and shows us the way to the promised land. keep your heads up and dance to the music.

morphosis has been cooking. friends, nwaq & just for one day got on the re-whisk. these productions live up to all expectations from two of the most awe inspiring out there. turn them up. big tip! when this idea came about, there was some speculation here if it was a going to be plausible prospect. throughout all the deliberation one fact remained: re-workings from these artists would make the perfect precursor 12” to a full morphosis album, and it just had to happen. then it did. nwaq turns in one hell of a dub! an almost relentless 7.5 minute float, that’s underpinned with thriftily placed percussion, and a true beast of a kick drum. no build-ups. no break-downs. so, now… let’s all bow towards to the master. just for one day’s rudeboy drum palette is going to be familiar to more than a few people. let’s just say that this is the new guise of a veteran german producer who’s uncompromising music has graced some of the world’s most exciting record labels over the past 15 years. for this remix he hijacks the ‘android’s among us’ and throws them right into a sound system shootout somehow leaving the core elements from the original track in tact. seriously killer. for fans of 2 step, jungle & dr who(?). please note: this will be a vinyl only affair.

adam shelton & subb-an have single handedly made birmingham cool over the last few years with their infamous below gigs at the rainbow. >feel so real< reflects the duos work at its height. it is a classic sounding house record with familiar vocal hooks, warm chords and throbbing drums. it stands out from the crowd in much the same way fcls >lets go< did last year. is it old or is it new? old school sensibilities brought right up to date with cutting edge production skills. so it was with this thought in mind that we approached new 2020 signings fcl to remix. they have added their own vocals and developed the hook into a synth heavy workout. the pack comes complete with another track >inside my head< which features a line many will remember from nights spent at warehouse raves, one for the spotters.

number three in the dc reworks series drops with another three top class retakes on the music of the disco legend.
first up is the sleazy boogie-funk of >do you want the real thing< which is given the shakedown by underground hipsters richard sen & cazbee. over on the flip, portuguese man-of-the-moment social disco club deals out some heavily, uplifting discotheque vibes on >dancing with strangers<, while one of the leading players in the ny new school, jacques renault, works >i dont want to lose you< into a dance floor bomb. a superb addition to an already celebrated series of updated classics!

>sis surpriz< is the third in debruits trilogy of eps which began with futuristic electro hip-hop workout >lets post funk< featuring jamie woon and ommas keith, and was followed by 2010s african highlife inspired spatio temporel. the trio of releases all feature 3-d artwork by german designer rainbowmonkey, and 3-d glasses are also included for your viewing pleasure. debruit is currently crafting a debut album based around trips to west africa and recordings with the regions indigenous musicians and traditional instruments. debruit has also been honing his live show which now incorporates a three-piece band, thumb pianos, african drums, highlife guitar, talk box and more, all accompanied by live visuals from rainbowmonkey. the new and improved live experience will be unveiled at the dates below and debruits album is due out later this year.

disconnected sounds launches with a one off pressing of 300 hand stamped and individually numbered white labels. dscntd 001 is a four track ep featuring a varied and stunning array of cuts from newcomers, deft, hugh pascall, chocky & adam curtain. the record begins with croydon boy defts luscious down tempo joint >paradise<. classically trained jazz musician hugh pascalls follows on with >joy padding< which is a slice of breathtaking syncopated electronica. the b side takes us in a housey direction, kicking off with chockys >scat<, a deep, groove laden, head nodder. while >calcut<, a percussive, twisted 4/4 sub-bass work out by nottinghams adam curtain finishes the whole thing off.

lnas third release comes from the godfather of the underground all the way from brookyln, new york: namely the legendary jovonn. first tune >a definition of a track< makes use of driving beats combined with ethereal and jazz-like melodies that work together to create a hypnotic atmosphere. second track >space atmosphere< has a more infectious styling, with an ever-progressive melody against a firm groove that grabs the listener and the dance floor. also featuring remixes from the much revered two armadillos, giles smith of secretsundaze and martin dawson (king roc) have turned out a modern classic to nail any peak time dance floor. the second remix comes from the newly formed mankind project. expect more from them this year with two other eps in the pipeline. this ep is something rather special!

the fifth neurhythmics release is a compilation of befriended artists, and this is reflected by the different interpretations of the individuals to what the labels sound is about. juergen provides the a-side with >common sense< a vocal-snippet driven house-track, that once again underpins his sound-aesthetics of having it sound live and mixed on the fly, straight out of the machine. the flip-side could not start off any better. quite possibly a future classic, >signature< by mike binary, has soul and emotion literally squeezed in between each of the effortlessly programmed beats, and has become one the favourite tracks at the neurhythmics hq to ever been put on the label. last but not least, >no other< by the dirty soul project (you will know these guys, but we were sworn to secrecy) firmly pulls the hand brake and slows things down to just over 110 bpm. this doesnt mean that this very hypnotic number isnt going to work in the early morning slots…au contraire, actually...

fresh from the success of >clock out<, need for mirrors make a quick return to inneractive music with one of its most awaited releases. originally released in 2001 on phantom audio, ten years later and the duo bring spirits >three in one< to a new generation, keeping that irresistibly funky flow while toughening up the groove with some killer bass work and thumping beats, already gracing the sets of dj hype, goldie, storm, raiden, tc1 and a host of others. spirit himself gets deep and dirty on >juggernaut< with its sparse drums, deep subs and growling synths, creating a groove that just cant be stopped.
