heard on “melancholia” are interpretations of honzo’s subconscious visions of life. the intense compositions are made up of drones, noises and distorted beats moving in and out of the frame. on opener “orientalism” said elements blend with hi-hat brushes, brassy synth pads, sci-fi noises and distant human voices evoking islam’s “adhan” (call to prayer). the theme contemplates over alienation caused by western accounts of “orientalism”, soaked in “hüzün” (the turkish term for melancholia). on a2 a rework of “moral masochism” is provided by the mysterious shadows outfit, starting with a distorted guitar over a slow and gritty rhythmic backbone which gradually turns into a chaotic high-intensity acid jam on the ep’s most dance floor suitable cut. on the flipside, “lovesickness” presents a broken kick rhythm periodically flipped by toms and accompanied by a disorienting hi-hat rhythm, ghostly strings and sporadic human moans – all resulting in a tribal mood, recalling a ceremony, perhaps a quest for a saviour from the blue temper? b2 presents the “moral masochism” original. again a distorted guitar plays over a slow rhythm, but compared to the remix, the original’s intensity is introverted, contemplating over melancholia’s effect of deriving gratification from self-inflicted moral humiliation. ambient closer “emptiness” explores a cold state with such an encapsulating airiness that it feels like a close account of another person’s mood down to the impression of their breath. arpeggiated synth noises appear from a distance representing increasing pressure from the outside world without ever suppressing the state of mind. as a result, “emptiness” sums up the state of melancholia experienced as a mood rather than the effect of a cause.

the italian serves up 4 tracks of analogue proto-techno. the style can be defined as techno of an esoteric nature with elements from 90’s warehouse material mixed with vhs horror movie aesthetics. moans, groans, whips and desire can be felt throughout the record with a lustful theme running throughout. violet poison s trademark post-punk aesthetic and industrialism are in fine form for 007 with shades of rhythmic noise, experimental dark ambient and power electronics. full printed sleeves.

we are very proud to present this new single on help! the a-side, gratitude, is a track recorded in 2014 by dj central in rubber studios, aarhus. if it wasnt for the support and encouragement of fellow regelbau-homies kasper skov and dj sports, this piece of energetic dancemusic wouldn t have seen the light of day. the long, vivid, ambient penta-tune on the 2nd face was recorded during same summer in amsterdam by ask your hands (tobias sachse, kaap, bobby van putten, dj sports and central). releases like this dont thread everybodys needle but we are gonna throw it against the wall and see if it sticks.

for finitude music s 5th release, label owner marcel heese and alexander kowalski aka d_func. share their visions on thought control. both tracks on the ep harbour the same intent, but each of them approaches it in a different way. d_func. s take revolves around sahko-like bleeps, if you are into early mika vainio or sleeparchive, look no further! but instead of being loopy, it s definitely a builder. its original trance track-like structure is sure to rock many an underground dancefloor. marcel s vision is slower and less straight-forward but creates and maintains a high tension. based on dense a bassline and intricate soundscapes, it builds up slowly, only to explode halfway through. an extra payoff also comes at the very end of a track, its noise/ambient outro making a perfect way to wrap up an amazing party at 8am somewhere deep in the heart of berlin.

ruhig comes back after one year with particles ep as first installment of a double ep on midgar. the record opens with particles, an atmospheric detroit influenced cut made out of synthlines dropping like voodoo spells, epic pads and fragmented beats. eddying follows up with a more direct approach to the dancefloor, 4/4 stomping beat and thin hi-hats backed by lasers and passionate ambiances. etere on the b-side gives the records an halfway breath, sounds like a late afternoon walk in the fields of a southern countryside village (with constructions going on somewhere nearby), before to start again with the sweet and eerie perle, where droney pinching drums are flooded by a swarm of dreamy fireflies. idiom to close the ep with a fast syncopated cut, showing the approach of ruhig to any form of musical expression and genre, far from traditional ambient or deep techno and going further, to reach out daring and more demanding levels.

by now, we ve come accustomed to tabernacle records exploring the outer reaches of detroit-influenced techno, electro and ambient. even so, their latest outing from regular contributor jeremiah r is something special. beginning with the floatation tank-in-space ambience of chorus, calisto sees the producer laying down a whopping eight cuts that variously touch in drexciyan electro, artificial intelligence-era idm, and hard-to-define hybrids that confirm the intergalactic potential of electronic music. interestingly, the music is roughly equally split between horizontally inclined, beat-less explorations, surging dancefloor workouts, and the kind of mid 90s home listening fodder that sits somewhere in between.

the 19th release of rue de plaisance is made by our french friends from berlin, arcarsenal. the duo, etienne and alan, have released on high calibre labels such as underground quality and finest hour and also run the excellent record shop in berlin. we were seduced by their unique and personal music and we are proud to release such a great ep which showcases their different sounds from ambient to techno. timeless music for your pleasure.

soon after label boss dj dis.co began working with the always human tapes label in late 2014 to license tracks for the last doubt vinyl release, a kinship was born. dj dis.co dug deep into the prolific always human tapes record label back catalog and curated a selection of tracks and songs that seemed appropriate for vinyl release. the various artist compilation is a balanced blend of ambient tools and left of center dancefloor gems. dj dis.co isnt the only one to take notice of the burgeoning tape label, a number of always human tapes tracks featured prominently on the june 2015 karen gwyer truancy mix.

one year has passed since the pilotwings’ first output « agorespace ». expectations went further in 2015 as they contributed to the rave-ish j-zbel project. the pair is now back on bfdm with another ode to rurality and old-fashioned analogue. including 4 tracks, « molitor 71 » goes deeper into retrofuturist nostalgia and bucolic mood. a1 31 septembre (on va tout niker) introduces full-on panflute melodies and uplifting korg exotica. as the trancy chicago dream fades out, a2 les invasions babar unveils its weird combo of electro beats and massive patrick cowley-esque synths. unplanned bass moves lead this jam while an undertaking voice calls for no less than « the greatest experience of your life ». things settle down on the nocturnal b1 congo libre. focus on breakbeats and sophisticated rhythms evokes trance beats, while sparkling synths emerge from everywhere. the ep ends up with a floating ambient piece called buruganda ouverture and designed for the listener to rediscover the meaning of his existence. molitor will give you faith in humanity and flutes again.
