some records are timeless and never age - -happiness is just around the bend- by the main ingredient is one of those records. originally released in 1974, -happiness- was a record before it s time - had it been released a year later it would undoubtedly have been one of the first 12- discs - so as a result, most discerning djs at the time chose to play the album cut. the song is actually a cover of uk prog-jazz band brian auger s oblivion express s version from the year before but main ingredient took the song to a whole new level and, 44 years later, it has become one of the most revered dance tunes of all-time. main ingredient were unlucky with 12- releases, which is why we re delighted to give -evening of love- it s first-ever 12- release! once again this was a 1981 album track which years later it would become a modern soul anthem and rightfully be regarded as one of their best records. fully remastered on limited edition 180 gram heavyweight vinyl.

after putting out kito jempere s stunning sea monster album earlier in the year, hell yeah now serve up a bunch of remixes from it that have been secret weapons for the last few months. behind them are black spuma, lipelis and bell towers and they all serve up real heaters. first up with possibly their best ever remix are black spuma—a collaboration between phillip lauer (tuff city kids, arto mwambe) and fabrizio mammarella (telespazio)—who flip ampa into a bootylicious house cut with fat bass stabs and sci-fi synths. it s retro in flavour and riddled with melodies that are brightly coloured and emotive, and when the vocal is layered in it helps carry you away on a wave of bliss. for djs who prefer to keep things raw, a dub version without the vocals is also included and bangs that bit harder.

hailing from the london rat race, mux step forward with the first release on teenage father and lay their distinctive style out for all to witness. their broad-reaching indie rock sound has undertones of electronica, grunge and a very british swagger that deserves to get them onto radio playlists and festival line ups aplenty. -mdma- rumbles along somewhere between soulwax, kasabian and queens of the stone age, while -teenage father- ups the intensity with a punky thrum behind the raucous guitars and grinding synths, and then -stray- finds the band mixing up the time signatures for the most adventurous cut on the record.

shimza, real name ashley raphala, is one of south africas brightest young talents. ascendent, his 4 tracks debut e.p. on cadenza reveals solid production skills and an innate instinct for peak-time bangers. the opening track, congo congo is a dark ride over abysmal tom-tom drums, lively percussions and a gloomy bass lead, ignited dramatically by an ensemble of wide synthetic stabs and chords. in its dub- mix, the drums and the percussion become lighter without diminishing its dynamic tension. the overall weight of the leads and the stabs is reduced, leaving more space to its intense piano and string chords and swinging sub bass. shimza - secret melodies starts with an obscure bass line, but the intense twist of fractioned rolls and arpeggios bring an ascending piano progression that quickly blooms into an uplifting symphony. selector is a deeper cut that keeps the gaze on the dancefloor: the incessant hand clapping and a cloud of low frequencies bumps unexpectedly drag its hypnotic harmonies into a breath-taking drop.

the debut dub syndicate set from 1982, pre-dating the involvement of mainstay style scott. this features various members of creation rebel and african head charge turning out a wild dub set, with hard-hitting rhythms and fx-mutated melodies phasing in and out of the mix . recorded quickly with track titles cheekily poking fun at the contemporary series by the scientist which pitted him against various b-movie foes. the tunes themselves however are deadly serious, with version excursions on some classic on-u vocal cuts such as “bedward the flying preacher” and “across the red sea”, and a continuing commitment by producer adrian sherwood to take his love of reggae and filter it through his exploratory and uniquely english approach. re-cut at dubplates & mastering in berlin. includes download card with bonus track and sleevenotes by steve barker (on the wire)

increasing access to new studio technology resulted in this splicing of dub reggae dna with cut-and-paste sampledelia. anticipating the later work of labels such as def jux, wordsound and anticon, this 1985 album paired crack jamaican session musicians such as the roots radics’ drummer style scott (by this point the instrumental leader of dub syndicate) and the congos’ ashanti roy with public image limited’s jah wobble and keith levene, not to mention the restless mixing desk boundary-pushing of producer and de facto member adrian sherwood. a more reggaefied take on the industrial funk sherwood was making with tackhead during the same period, lovers of digidub, outernational sounds and even the wilder reaches of 80s hip-hop will find much to get lost in here

bonnie & klein can often be found cruising round labels like music for dreams and leng, imparting tender touches of balearic finery for those who like to cruise on the slinkiest of 80s flavoured jams. they re on cracking form for this return to uber, kicking off with the sultry -tones of ballad-, which gets a subtle beefing up from drifts projects on the remix. -pretty lake- is the cut for those who want to achieve pure transcendental bliss by way of canned slap bass and sustained chords, and then -snowdrifts- finishes the ep off with a thoughtful piece shaped out by sweet piano and stirring strings.

following their debut ep release -one- earlier this year, french music act esss deliver an array of sounds in their latest ep naturally entitled -two-. electro down tempo 80 s synths meeting 70 s funk with modern dark techno builds. -two- is a melting pot combination of gesaffelstein and stranger things . the opening track (1) berlingot will no doubt take the dance floor by surprise as layered synths, kick drums and bass sounds descend into a new wave banger. (2) kickflip is a glitchy down tempo cut with dreamlike percussion with twisted retro synths. for the 108th installment in the ever expanding planet rhythm catalog, a various artists effort has been planned with some of the label’s usuals and some exciting names we have had our eye on for a while now. for the a-side, arts label owner emmanual brings his much appreciated e100 to vinyl. previously released digitally through his own imprint, this cut has been sought after for a while now. second up is eindhoven native albert van abbe. albert has been making a lot of waves for a long time now and we’re very glad to welcome him to the prruk family. more to ignore 04 is a funked out piece of machine music that will definitely turn some heads. the b side is opening with elyas the hangman. the mysteryman that gained some infamy through his releases on modularz and olympian delivers a cutting edge techno work-out. closing down this va 12” is mendy. returning to prruk for the 2nd time, mendy has come up with elevation which is a chordy techno theme for peak hours.

hay luv the new album by twit one contains cool bap. for those who want to put a name tag on the versatile sound of the cologne based dj and producer, are free to use it. hay luv is the follow-up to the sit-in from 2015. in the meantime twit one has released a keats record on hhv, put out timing & effekte together with retrogott as echomann & 4track boy and uploaded 154 episodes radio love love. and he also played a gig in your town, if you happen to live in hildesheim, london or tokyo. hay luv contains 15 tracks and will be available on lp, mc and digital. special guests are c.a. ramirez on the beat and retrogott on the cut. vocal features come from spoken word artist pblouison and mcs/singers turt & charlie tappin (aka summer sons) from bristol.

no matter where the winds may blow, what storms may come or what pirates will do, the transatlantyk ship is still sailing. navigated for the last three years by zambon out of berlin, ultimately avoiding the shallow waters of the generic and constantly patrolling the seas in search of exciting sounds. after all that sailing the label just had to replenish its ranks with some fresh faces - those still capable of voyaging into the unknown. joining the crew is a young gun tamten, who by day serves as a vinyl pusher in warsaw s finest side one record store. what he does by night is not the matter of this short text, but we are sure he does a lot of it. hence his love for all things distant - from subaquatic pads and floating riffs, to new-age-y siren voices, otherworldly effects and percussion drenched in reverb. there is a lot of similarly distant, sun-bleached material on this five tracker, full of a druggy and hippy balearic feel. beautiful ambient jam przebudzenie is the stand out track, but znaki czasu is equally as good with its simple, yet memorable melody, reminding of dawns and sunsets on some god forsaken beach. sultry deepness of nieznajoma is followed by enchanting digital exotica of wyrocznia and wavey trip-hop cut po burzy . overall its one of the strongest eps that transatlantyk managed to co-opt into its growing catalogue. definitely one for the dreamers.

per martinsen aka mental overdrive is one of norwegian dance musics founding fathers. alongside friends such as bjorn torske, biosphere, rune lindbaek and dj strangefruit, martinsen was integral in laying the foundations of norways now blossoming dance music scene during the late 1980s and early 90s. as a producer, he cut his teeth making house, techno and hardcore for belgian imprints ssr and r&s records at the turn of the 90s. he was a regular at the r&s studio in ghent, programming and mixing for other artists including joey beltram. since then, per has continued to produce and release quality electronic music, both under his mental overdrive alias (see releases on full pupp, smalltown supersound, rett i fletta and his own love od communications imprint), and as part of outfits such as frost (alongside his other half, aggie peterson) and illumination/ chilluminati. per is featured heavily in ben davis and pete jenkinsons documentary film chronicling the rise of norwegian dance music, ‘northern disco lights.

with this release a new label emerges under the name deep down. veebo delivers a smooth ep for the occasion. expect stripped down microhouse with spooky laughs and repetitive vocals. on the a side you’ll find essentially, a delicious 45 cut with a classic uk bass melody. on the b side it starts of with one two, a house driven, conductive tool. the ep ends of with ethereal, the title track that will take you on a modular journey with buttery pads and stripped down ultra deep bass lines. this label will continue to focus on the minimal groovin’ side of the genres of house and techno. expect more sounds from vivid antwerp soon.

following a live debut at berghain and standout shows at de school and institut fuer zukunft, daniel martin-mccormick returns as relaxer with the fourth installment in the projects eponymous ep series. jamie lee takes over the a-side harrowing screams are framed by strobing chords and a deadly groove. simultaneously euphoric, agonizing and cathartic, jamie lee was written as the climax of relaxers live set and is a prime example of the artists uniquely feral techno. drawing equally on punk confrontations and more haunting emotional explorations, jamie lee is a lacerating and visceral descent. on the b-side, unwind oozes from the speakers, a miasmic cut that builds on the white knuckle tension of jamie lee. a lone synth figure worms its way through pulsating 3d drones, shimmering dissonances and hiccuping drums, rocking out into a quasi catatonic infinity. finally regime change gently floats on the surface of a trash-filled sea, a fading, smog choked reverie.

the delsin re-issue arm turns its attention to lost trax. this ep features four cuts taken from two different eps, the saturnian system and lost trax 2 from 2006 and 2010 respectively. saturnian system opens the ep with some acid laced electro slickness. fluttering snares and spacey synths carry it away into the cosmos, then the sequel gets much busier. scurrying lines dart about in manic but funky fashion, with serene pads off setting the high energy drums. self destruct sequence then drops into an urgent, slippery electronic groove riddled with squelchy sounds and rubbery bass all perfectly orchestrated. last of all, birth is a nimble electronic house cut with plaintive synths and kinetic drums that wiggle and wriggling through the night sky. this is an ep stuffed with timeless sounds and is another essential reissue from delsin.

this year sees abba’s the album turn 40, and usm are pleased to announce that we’ll be releasing a selection of products to celebrate the anniversary. abba: the album is the fifth studio album by the swedish pop group abba. it was originally released in scandinavia on 12 december 1977 through polar music and was released in conjunction with abba: the movie, with several of the songs featured in the film. the album contained two uk number-one singles, -take a chance on me- and -the name of the game-, as well as european hits -eagle- and -thank you for the music-. the album includes three songs from abba’s 1977 tour mini-musical the girl with the golden hair. these songs are -thank you for the music-, -i wonder (departure)- and -i’m a marionette-. altogether the album contained just nine songs—the least of any abba album, but were longer in length than previous albums (opening track -eagle- runs to nearly six minutes). abba: the album reached no. 1 in many territories. in the uk it debuted at the top and remained there for seven weeks, ending up as the third biggest selling album of the year (behind the movie soundtrack lps of saturday night fever and grease). in the us it became their highest charting album, where during 1978 abba undertook a big promotional campaign.

the latest milos instalment on his own receptive visions label. first cut energy tremor rolls along with it’s metallic beats and synth stabs, while samadhi which has a more energetic feel with it’s clattering drums and bubbly liquid keyboard lines, will certainly get the dance floor moving.

(detector for advanced neutron capture experiments), the various artists series of the label, comes back with the italians ness, luigi tozzi and the french underjack. on the a-side with -tmb- ness turns a robotic rhythm in a dark electric / industrial infected tunnel. luigitozzi’s a2 “blood meridian” strikes soft under an oppressive butterfly effect creating an intense flow. underjack on the b-side delivers a nebulous groove that is responsible of a eight minutes of immense hypnotic techno cut with energy drums and crispy bassline.
