new on the delsin x-series is my home is sonic, a standout techno, dub and minimal album originally released in 2001 by icelandic producer arnvidur snorrason aka exos on ae recordings. exos is the son of dub techno producer octal and released three albums in his career, as well as a swathe of fine eps on labels like thule, mosaic, slow to speak and has recently being picked up by nina kraviz. his ability to build great atmospheres and heady soundscapes was unrivalled, and though they bottle up influences, they are always fresh, wintry and compelling. few have done minimal dub techno better before or since this masterpiece album, so it s right that 2015 sees it revisited by fans old and new alike.

sheik ‘n’ beik are a nyc based cohort specialising in promotion, production and outletting left­of­centre slices of electronic music. with previous releases from family members derek marin, voiski and peter corvaia their 4th release comes courtesy of danny wolfers (a.k.a legowelt) working alongside rush hour regular xosar under their xamiga alias. with this being xamiga’s 3rd release, the pair draw for their trusted arsenal of analogue gear and offer up the ‘bohemian grove’ ep, a woozy brew of foggy textures, gently frazzled hats and detroit­indebted grooves. the title track kicks things off with glassy pads sat atop a long­tailed thud and a sandy shuffle. a distant bass groove wades in ahead of a passage of intricate, band­passed percussion and a circling synth line before ‘cumulus versie’ sets sheets of ethereal vocals and synth strings gently ducking under a taught analogue pulse. ‘midwest’ then sets hissing kicks and frayed hi­hats alongside a rasping bass tone. pitch­bent synth lines then bubble into focus before ‘blizzard’ sets a dystopian tone from the off. a stout kick drum thunders under minor­key chord shifts and a menacing sequence that works to round off another fine addition to the sheik ‘n’ beik series.

this is how it started focuses heavily on the early days of the chicago sound, especially in the formative years at ron hardy s music box.
following chicago s disco demolition night in 1979 the genre s popularity fell dramatically, hence fewer disco records being released.in this era chicago s djs such as hot mix 5, hardy, knuckles & jesse saunders played a variety of styles mixing in italo, electronic pop music, electro-funk and older disco joints often playing their own edits which focusing on the portions of the songs which always rocked the dancefloor. at the end of 1982, when dj frankie knuckles left the warehouse to open the power plant, ron hardy started to dj at the warehouse s new location until owner robert williams renamed it the music box. in 1984, a local label released a 12-inch single called -on and on- by locals jesse saunders & vince lawrence who had simple made the song in order to replace a record which had been stolen from saunders collection, the -on & on- bootleg disco megamix by mach. hence chicago house music was born and a modern day phenomenon followed.

2014 was a definitely a huge year for dance music, with many up and coming artists being thrown into the lifestyle of hectic partying and relentless touring schedules. this also means that those who exploded onto the scene prior are no longer the new kids on the block. a few years is a long time in the life of a dj, and the first few years are often the maddest. the adana twins are a perfect example of one of these artists, having emerged onto the scene in 2012 with releases such as everyday and strange , from the off it was clear that they had everybody s undivided attention. anders enges interest in modular synthesizers comes from a desire to shut down conscious decisions about form and to focus on rhythm and timbre. this does however not land in traditional techno but rather in a riff-oriented style, the riff being both rhythm and melody and also a morphing entity in the music. drums and percussion attempt to follow this entity, while maintaining a link to the dance music pulse. the resulting style makes for a hybrid timewarped experience of travelling a parallell electronic music reality, a brooding technoid that grooves

a couple years ago developer created a modularz sub label named - developer archive - the idea was to slowly release tracks taken from his personal collection and specifically made for his live dj sets. through developer archive these tracks are now being released in a limited amount and the chosen selection are the ones that developer felt made the largest impact in clubs and venues around the world.

two slices of brilliant brazilian disco, painel de controle have a few bangers across their rca lps, these two being my favourites. *relax* is a straight up boogie monster, well known to deep disco & boogie heads flipped with *malandrinh* with its insanely catchy guitar. the original brazilian *relax* 7 inch plays at 33rpm (like many brazilian 45s), if you know you are cutting you will know this is not ideal. our new 7 inch is 45rpm and cut from a super crisp new master from the tapes at timmon cutting labs, sounds about 5x better than the o.g. ... simple choice.

on the leading edge of nycs underground music scene, vito ricci produced only a handful of self-­released cassettes and one lp between 1983-1985 with most of his work being recorded for experimental theatre and performance art pieces. taking their label name from vito riccis only lp, music from memory brings together a compilation of works by one of the unsung heroes of new yorks downtown music scene.

ovc is from chicago where he has been producing, and playing out electronic stuff in one form or another for like ten years including a lot of gigs and some residencies for example in sonotheque. but it s only the last three or four years hes gotten into the deeper side of techno and recently into the deeper/dubbier techno style, his music is a little raw as he does it all in hardware just live to two-track. he weaves together deep narratives out of a collection of blinking sequencers and drum machines, always assisted by a generous dose of reverb and delay. ovc releases with us on telrea the first 3 tracker we have done. all 3 tracks being on the calmer side of electronic music, rich in depth of sound and motion.

one of the godfathers of chicago house jesse saunders originally composed and released this proto house classic in 1984. its initial release was on jesses own seminal jes say records before later being re released on trax in the 90s. all 4 original mixes have been re mastered and are re released in conjunction with the trax rights holders

this disquiet is a layering of many, the process is the result: a slow-churning, microtonal wash, at once liquid and brilliantly crystalline in affect. two timbres fracture into many. a tectonic drone slides below and aerates a chorus as vocals flicker in and out of being, wrestling with silence. cacophony blends into order as subtle harmonies appear. what bence has written falls somewhere between an electronic production and a classical composition. where these two forms intersect is where disquiet occurs.

faust recordings is the new black techno label established by the italian dj and producer cristian carpentieri and his friend sandro leucci, one of the most famous art directors, designers and illustrators in italy. faust: a music that is not immoral is unworthy of being called music at all. well-known pleasure ep includes a remix produced by silvision.

käse kool s fifth release, the friends n no ends ep, is comprised of 5 berlin-based producers, each of which brings his own unique sound to ep. a1, appearance, comes from the face behind crude wax, vincenzo maurice. this tune comes with a rough attitude of sheer analogue house. a2, wismut, comes from the man with the plan, nick beringer. this track speaks for itself with its punchy bass-line and direct groove. b1, visions, comes from a newly formed duo who goes by mode7. this promising duo hits it home with their newest track visions as its sweet and sultry pads play with the drive of bass and drums. lastly b2, system is wack, comes from a producer who goes by the name of aurhythm (aka dennis sekyere). this track speaks for itself, as being very rude with it s rough drive but still keeping its own delicate stems

boola is no stranger at all to the vinyl club team. he was amongst the very first customers of the former ibiza record shop that gave birth to vinyl club, and even if this is his first release on the imprint he contributed from the beginning to inspire the crew with his early productions that enlightened the golden days of dc10, some of them being released on the then new born arpiar label a bit less than a decade ago. joining the vinyl club agency in 2013, he is since then sharing the dj booth too with the team for endless sessions at cdv / berlin.

the munich born sound architect has released 13 eps, two long payers and numerous mixes in her distinctive extravagant and charismatic style. her music includes techno productions as well as -music for theater-. we picked up on cio when she moved to cologne several years ago and appreciate her as an exceptional human being and as a tastemaker. this is the second release she has done with us. her hypnotic djs sets enchant clubbers around the world, from berlins berghaim to people in tokyo. her track >off< describes a biotope in which two different poles gently collide. rooms of reverb meet orchestral sounds meet acoustic clicks, in a process of an ongoing motion, where there is no beginning and no end. the flip side highlights >and on< shows white horses amids the waves of sounds. this track could be an electronic soundtrack to a day at an isolated beach in the indian ocean. enjoy.

a violent disturbance in a crowd ep, stephan barnem delivers a rabble rousing three tracker ep of blistering techno. being heavily championed by maceo plex, this is another great release for his great ellum imprint. originally born in brazil, but raised between berlin and venice, stephan barnem. his latest 3 tracker on ellum is a powerful beast, featuring the lead track violent disturbance a hypnotic techno infused groover of epic proportions. on the flip and kina, featuring junyi on vocals gets tougher as we are spirited away in haze of hedonism. finally h is a dark destroy prodding the analogue underbelly of the ep into submission!

the roger ep consists in 2 tracks, delivered by the production team-up vlad radu, martin glowacz and nils weimann, with an additional remix by michael melchner. all three tracks are different in terms of structure and harmonic elements, everything being combined in such a way that music can be enjoyed at home or on the dancefloor

after three years, ascion and d.carbone return with *substructures*, their most experimental release to date on their label 3th. the a-side of this record holds two droney offbeat tracks, *ram expedients* and *lo-fi fields*, combining a rare/abstract and genuine mix of middle-eastern electronics, cyberpunk and uk warehouse techno. the b-side contains the tracks that are responsible for the nomenclature of this release: *substructures one/two*. being more oriented to genres such as idm and rave techno, they are characterized by powerful beats and cutting edge ambients and vocals. both tracks have been recorded during one of their live performances in london 2013.

early support from raresh, fred p. julietta, dana ruh!! after a first year of spellbinding releases, sol asylum returns in 2015 with a fresh various artist’s compilation featuring three finely crafted tracks from the sol asylum crew to kick-start the labels second year. bringing together a family of artists who have been there since the very beginning. starting off with the odd boys danny and damian, we go all the way back to the first release with a brand new remix of broken spell. whisking us away to a parallel universe of this odyssey, this remix is masterly conjured into a percussive exploration of the planet of odd. following the odd ones, julie marghilano unleashes another side of sol asylum with dragon drops. she unveils her known atmospheric soundscapes but with a heavily detailed rhythmic twist, made by experimenting with her field recordings to create a more stripped down sound that shows her range and versatility. last but certainly not least, miss jools calima brings the ep to a triumphant closure like a mystical fog. the elements of the track melt into drowning synths with crackling percussion and the elegantly designed grooves that levitate us steadily through the hypnotic melodies. the percussive strength of each track, while still being diverse links this collaboration of like-minded family members together as a cohesive potion.

honey dijon has been part of the classic dna since day dot. a long-time friend to both derrick carter and luke solomon, honey has produced, remixed, dj’d and partied for and with classic for many years. although previously compiling a compilation for classic she has surprisingly never had her own release on the label. 2015 see’s honey releasing two separate eps on classic with both ‘’thundah’ and ‘burn’ being inspired by the classic 90’s nyc house music sound and produced in homage to honey’s friend frankie knuckles. the ep’s come backed with remixes from hnny, luke solomon, terrence parker and mark brydon all adding their own distinct flavour to honey’s concoctions. this exclusive double header vinyl ep release gives just a taste of what to expect

capsule labs music groups debut release is a 4 track house ep from label boss gil t (om, drop music, deeper shades). taking off with the lush sounds of flight 107, a smooth synth journey, nicely descends to get down lowť. the afro cuban house beat sets a nice groove for the live jazzy vibraphone stabs of this classy track. the b side is a real bonus. the private driver really cruises and lastly, not so low is a chunky finisher remix of the title track, all done in house. locally farmed variety of true analog precision by gil tamazyan. each release has its own plastic drop card with a string being held in place with a limited pressing metal foil sticker individually numbered 1-500 on the back side of the jacket. heavyweight virgin vinyl.

nail provides the lead track for fofs latest vinyl only excursion - originally produced in the same time period as the classic tracks on the ode rammel reissue ep earlier in the year, glazed lay dormant on one of nails dats for many years before being rediscovered and given its first airing now on fof. chunky roughed up house beats are the order of the day here, a real peak time groove. new talent harry mccanna, resident at londons infamous undersound nights, debuts with act 1, a beautifully subtle bassline driven groove that rises above the pack with its super warm pad lending the track a warm and fuzzy hypnotic edge. romanian talent zece kicks off the flipside with the most contemporary offering, a breakbeat laden groove with a fx laden vocal snatch underpinned by that all important b-line whilst sonodab rounds things off with a beautifully deep and melodic slice of electro on brown study, the percussive elements giving rise to a hazy melodic pattern for those early hour excursions.

during 1993 and 1994, between shifts at selectadisc, blagging studio time from diy and looking for a new girlfriend, nail spent time at home with some borrowed equipment a tr-808, tb-303, boss delay pedal and a knackered spring reverb, plus his own korg ms10. recording live & straight to cassette, these acid-soaked sessions were given the name sentipede, after a friend at the time saying one of the tracks made them feel like they were being eaten alive by a giant creepy-crawly with lots of legs. selected from four d90 cassettes full of tracks, 99:wave presents the imaginatively titled one, with just 8 tracks over two slabs of grey vinyl.

for his debut on spectral sound, san francisco dj/producer matrixxman presented a strong and versatile four track ep, amulet.

veteran nyc synth master gavin russom joins l.i.e.s. with an outstanding three track ep. ... epic, tense, and driving russom goes for the throat crafting beautifully produced functional club tracks that teeter on the edge of the deepest psychedelic realm. with hints of many different electronic strains creeping into his productions, we get the full specturm and see this talented producer doing some of his best work in recent times, the hidden gem being the b-side s closing track, the telstar file.

for skylax 140, damien zala, of rowtag records fame, brings the heat with a new 6 track ep. it kicks off with an absolutely mad remix of * looking for the sun* by detroit legend, anthony shake shakir. the attention to detail is clear when it comes to someone who has been in the game for so long, and the rework he has done for damiens track is no exception. * the final break* is damiens first original on the record. a skippy, staccato affair in both its percussion and its disco/funk/soul sampling. *beauty is back* is damien taking things down a jazzier route, with a piano laden jazz sample and shuffling drums to match.on the flip, * always young* is an audacious disco edit, sampling such a treasured song that many would consider untouchable, luckily, damien works his magic to make an edit which gets people moving without being obvious. the ep closes out with * emotions* and the original version of * looking for the sun*, barely recognisable from the anthony shakir remix, in the best possible way! sweet & dirty indeed, dont miss this offering by the one and only damien zala.

following the huge success of dlm 004 and the massive appeal of roman flugels remix of idle eyes (as charted by all from dixon to michael mayer, dan avery to maceo plex), here is a little surprise from our camp. glockd is c.a.rs trademark washed out sarcasm, bleached cynicism, the track forages paths through chloes dark mind. it was one of the first tracks she wrote on her own, and was recorded down the bunker with timothy j fairplay. a favourite of andrew weatherall (who nominated my friend, the c.a.r album, as one of the best releases of 2014), it is now coming full-circle, being given a stomping shuffle air guitar dance-floor rework by the asphodells … if you liked our lord sabres remix of fuck buttons this is for you. electronics looking at the floor & air guitar. following it is manfredas (the protégé of les disques de la mort) vocal version of angelina, a request from many after the instrumental being released earlier this year. the northern wulf is biting again. and he bites hard.
