the procedure club is a collaborative -bedroom-pop- project founded by andrea and polish emigré adam malec in new haven, connecticut in 2008. the two began recording as a natural progression from their boredom with living in poverty in new haven, sharing musical tastes in shoegaze and pop bands of the 80s and 90s, such as black tambourine, and the jesus and mary chain, as well as a common admiration for baroque artists such as purcell and bach. out of this god-forsaken alliance comes procedure club, in which adam and andrea have combined melodic song structures with heavily reverbed vocals, stuttering mechanical drum beats, dirty bass, synths, and alternately washed-out and jangly guitars.

das debütalbum von kelela ist ein vielschichtiges, oszillierendes porträt, das sich zugleich in die vergangenheit und in die zukunft des r&b erstreckt. was so nach relativ stabilen genregrenzen und zugehörigkeiten klingt, wird in ihren händen grenzenlos: take me apart steht für sich, es ist ein neues element, das nach eigenen regeln funktioniert, sich aber doch einreihen lässt in einen kanon von klangverwandten jüngeren albummeilensteinen. ehrlichkeit und verletzlichkeit waren schon immer die eckpfeiler ihrer musik auch wenn sie sich gelegentlich gepanzert in avantgardistischen electronica-schichtungen präsentiert, und auf take me apart geht sie nun sogar noch deutlich weiter, was den emotionalen tiefgang, wucht und gehalt ihrer message und auch die breite des klanglichen spektrums angeht. nach den lobeshymnen für ihre hallucinogen ep, feature-beiträgen für ihre langjährige verbündete solange, danny brown oder zuletzt den gorillaz, und nach supportauftritten für the xx, legt kelela mit take me apart den grundstein für eine sehr vielversprechende karriere.

after the creation of computer disco lp (1982), marcello giombini produces the year after i adore commodore - computer music flash, which was mainly made with a commodore 64. giombini was a veteran of music applications with personal computer, started with an apple ii europlus and then converted to the commodore 64 thanks to the presence of 3 independent music generators that allowed him to make more elaborate music easier. the record was inspired by the videogames of the time, so that the titles of the 10 tracks are inspired by the names of famous games. the music was created using four to eleven commodore 64 programmed and synchronized with an external audio interface. at the time, giombini, in his studio in a basement just a few steps from nomentana, rome, had organized a small school with courses of basic and computer music. the graphic is the same of original lp with inner-sleeve dedicated to commodore 64.

wenn sich musiker wie sufjan stevens, bryce dessner, nico muhly und james mcalister für ein album zusammentun, ist die welt natürlich nicht groß genug. auf ihrer einspielung -planetarium- vertonen und besingen sie deshalb unser komplettes sonnensystem. die idee zu diesem konzeptalbum schwirrte schon etwas länger in sufjan stevens kopf herum. konkret wurde sie allerdings erst, als die konzerthalle muziekgebouw in eindhoven nico muhly den auftrag zu einer komposition erteilte. sofort dachte er an eine kollaboration mit seinen freunden dessner, stevens und mcalister. doch nachdem man das stück gemeinsam fertiggestellt und aufgeführt hatte, legte man das junge projekt erst einmal auf eis. im anschluss veröffentlichte bryce dessner mit seiner band the national -trouble will find me-, sufjan brachte sein album -carrie & lowell- heraus und nahm anschließend mcallister mit auf tour, und muhly komponierte ein violinen- konzert für die metropolitan opera. schließlich kehrten stevens und mcalister 2016 mit einigen songskizzen zurück ins studio, wo dann richtige stücke entstanden, die mit den mitteln von prog rock, elektronik und indie durch das universum schweben.
