play it say it is a hot new label brought to you courtesy of seth troxler, and the first release is a one-side monster of a track by sharam (deep dish) and featuring manfred manns earth band. hot on the heels of deep dishs recently released club hit quincy, sharam releases tripi, a rib-rattling, earth-shaker destined to cause maximum dance floor pandemonium. an incessant dirty as hell synth line underpins the colossal driving force of this beast as the rhythm breaks down to the unearthly enchanting keyboard break courtesy of manfred manns earth band. tripi was endemic throughout wmc and expect to hear it everywhere this summer. already getting heavy support, tripi is destined for big things. seth has kicked off his new label in style. expect more floor fillers in this vain from other luminaires on play it say it this summer. and remember, when you play it, say it!

vinyl-wiederveröffentlichung des manfred mann’s earthband-klassikers von 1983 als 180g-vinyl-edition. mit chris thompson und trevor rabin sind beliebte manfred mann’s earthband-mitglieder an diesen album beteiligt, mit sting (“demolition man”) und bob marley (“redemption song”) covert man nicht weniger populäre künstler. kernstück ist die fast 10-minütige “africa suite”, in der manfred mann die eigenkompositionen “brothers and sisters of africa”, “to bantustan?”, “koze kobenini?” und “brothers and sisters of azania” zu einer großen rock-komposition zusammenführt.

*one hand in the air* bezieht sich beispielsweise auf *so appalled* von kanye west - manfred mann hat dessen original nun neu arrangiert. mit the prodigy und disco boys verfährt manfred mann genauso. zudem liest sich die gästeliste beeindruckend: till brönner spielt auf jedem zweiten stück trompete, kris kristofferson leiht einem stück seine stimme und kanye west ist natürlich auch zu vernehmen. zudem wagt sich manfred mann an neuinterpretationen von klassikern wie *light my fire* oder *we will rock you* - absichtlich stücke, die weltweit hinlänglich bekannt sind. manfred mann erklärt: *gerade weil jeder die stücke in- und auswendig kennt, habe ich in meinen interpretationen die optimale freiheit. wenn ich passagen weglasse oder neu arrangiere, denkt der hörer diese ja trotzdem mit*. neuinterpretationen - von bob dylan bis bruce springsteen - haben manfred manns gesamte karriere geprägt, *lone arranger* führt diese tradition somit fort. und keine frage: das album bleibt bei aller konzeption typisch manfred mann, nicht zuletzt weil die spielfreude am keyboard vernehmbar ist.

wer mit freddy fischer und seiner cosmic rocktime band noch nicht so recht vertraut sein sollte, braucht vielleicht doch erst ein paar stichworte. orientierungshilfen. da hört man also einen jazzrock, den es aber geradewegs auf den tanzboden zieht. und disco. auch diese lässige eleganz der lieder, die manfred krug mal gesungen hat in den siebzigern und damit selbst die ddr etwas swing schenkte, wenigstens für einen moment. und jetzt vielleicht noch eine weitere glitzerkugel voll disco dazu. das steckt man dann alles in einen schicken smoking, und schon steht da ein freddy fischer da.

yoruba records is proud to present the andre torquato project. as the primary songwriter and arranger nomumbah, andre is not a newcomer on the scene. his ideas and melodies have become signature to fans of the love moves release. here andre digs deeper into an alter ego with a deep, minimal, tech approach to house music yet keeping the realms of his brazilian roots bridging his take on electronic music. manfred contains three songs, all of which contain the manfred monikers style stabs alongside solid rhythmic drum patterns. we are sure this is only the beginning of an evolving future for the andre torquato project. enjoy!
