morah’s first release came from helena hauff’s return to disorder label and this time the athenian producer takes the same techno and electro sound and goes completely berserk for berceuse heroique. morah creates some huge waves of feedback on anarchy, which sounds like a techno version of metal machine music, then he takes the old school viewlexx sound and makes it even more confrontational, on you said no and impasse. looking back is a beautiful, melancholic - but still very dysfunctional - version of the death of a rave. one of the strongest points of this new producer is that his music sounds like the city of athens right now: raw energy mixed with manic depression and pessimism.

it’s time for another prruk sampler. prruk104 combines four of the names that have circulating through the label s discography in recent times. for the a side we have self reflektion label owner stranger with a peak time warehouse anthem called “thinner” which uses heavy syncopated percussion sounds which dominate the whole track. for the a2, hans boufffmyhre comes up with a distorted bit of techno action that will definitely turn some heads. london based jamie haus opens up the b side with a psychotic anthem whilst ear to ground head honcho gareth wild closes down with a more emotional rave cut.

the return of faetch - four tracks of real 2016 techno earwiggle is the irish techno label from sunil sharpe following the earth-shifting faetch 1, which was played by practically every techno dj worth their salt, tibetan entity faetch returns for the next part in the ongoing saga. sturdy, rolling drums and fiery vocal bursts on jeidge signal early chaos on the a-side, moving onto the pure techno funk of wershif - a definite ear wiggler if ever we heard one. on the b-side faecel is tense, more heads-down fare, not at all dissimilar to cari lekebusch s classic early drumcode material. closing the ep is cargoe , where jittery broken rhythms ricochet off rave stabs and echoed vocals & sound fx. another crucial faetch four-tracker here, for fans of inventive dancefloor techno.

a1 nubian mindz - deep in raves: well known for his versatile and rich production, colin delivers once more. with a quite suitable name - deep in raves is just that. a deep plunge into dark and rave-like atmosphere. after a short intro layered with an ominous voice, massive bassline takes over and drives the track through the darkest curves. enriched with short percussions and a synth stab this is quite a stomper best experienced on a good club soundsystem, preferably in the dark. a2 volster - nebula: almost obsessed with audio purity, volster manages to combine new and modern sounds with old-school genre roots. nebula is all about complexity. although it is based on an electro foundations, it s so much more. space filled with an oscillatory synth motion perplexed with smooth pads that gives the impression of an interstellar properties. no detail is left unengaged, from the 808 that keeps everything in motion to the subtle amount of panning. this is a beautifully crafted story by a producer who is slowly but steadily growing into one of the best croatian artists. b1 lucretio - dracula: the most famed beard of cadoneghe/italy has pulled another magic gem from his music source. widely known for his relentless tendency to push the analogue spectrum to it s extreme, lucretio surprises once more with his ability to blend simple pieces into an effective sub storm with almost comic like features. dracula is not your conventional tune and it s pretty obvious why as soon as you put the needle on. broke down rhythm is heavily fueled by polished but enormous sub background with sparse and ¥in your face¥ shots. seemingly random notes take a gloomy and powerful form during the break and soon the lurky atmosphere comes into picture. this is truly brilliance in it s full simplicity. if only bram stoker could hear this, he would probably be both stunned and amused! b2 james booth - jxst do it: one of our goals on vakum is to be on a lookout for a new and promising talents. berlin based james booth surely fits the bill. jxst do it is a seriously crafted track with rich rhythmic section wrapped in a steady build up. after the initial break-beat intro sliced in short chunks, subtle 303 bassline takes over and the rhythmic game begins. booth delivers a perfectly timed cuts accompanied by a diverse palette of percussions. this is a perfect piece for those build up moments in the club..

the latest release from the swiss duo larytta, entitled jura libre, is a chunky, massive, intelligent, colorful (in that full on tropical way) four-song collection of club bangers. to be exact the full set actually consists of two original songs with an in-house larytta remix a piece. the originals lean on pronounced inflections of playful, tricky, afro-tropical rhythms, while the reworks go for a more direct four-to-the-floor approach straight for the jugular. apart from the vibrant, tight production what unifies all of these tracks is a head nod towards that nineties club sound, especially that golden age acid rave material. this is music made not only by great producers, but heads that really know and love clubbing culture and history and know how to tastefully reference the past. the ep closes with bota mao pra encima which features brazilian emcee junior, and thats the point at which you start to question if this ep was truly cut in switzerland.

mr trum* wakes up at his manhattan residency a bit dizzy from his late night scotch and cigars with some right winged peers. after his classic raisin and bran breakfast, he decides to flirt with the raver community in order to win some votes for the upcoming elections. his decision seems irrevocable now, the first measure he will adopt if he gets elected is to build a wall of sound on the whole mexican border and start a macro rave under the premise of -we are all immigrants-. inspired by this extraordinary situation, 4 producers (hack force one, pau roca, scott ferguson & the enigmatic 3%) reached a sonic epiphany and the second ep of black money records emerged.

this debut ep is produced with clear references to j choirboy’s influences, from the majestic cantatas of bach to the broken rhythmic styles of the early uk rave scene, and even features his own father’s organ playing on the first track fantazia.

monoloc makes his debut on hotflush recordings, the labels first release of 2016. following a recent single on innervisions and an appearance on life & death, his latest offering another thing marks a departure into more atmospheric soundscapes. the murky grandeur of the title track lends itself to moody textures that build in narrative, walking a knife-edge between ndustrial techno and minimalist dub. trysome conjures the setting of a dilapidated warehouse rave at 5am, while makeless, with its low-slung percussive elements draped over misty pads and imposing bass, draws the listener further into monolocs wormhole.

having turned out two hazy, driving eps of muffled techno for lobster theremin sublabel mörk, nthng arrives on pacific command for a rare two track exploration of gritty dutch rave and rolling trance-y techno.
on *are you here*, nthng takes an up-tempo bucket-booted drum shuffle and steadily filters its way into a skittering hat furore, all coated with epic pads and a demi-hoover rave stab. full fire-alarm business.
on the flip, there is serious influence from early trance and techno with the warehouse-crushing *in the afterglow*. constructed on the back of an early 90s hard house-esque alien synth patterns and rolling wildly into the deepest depths of the forest rave, until the long-awaited sunlight pads come bursting through the leaves.

not an animal return with their 2nd installment, this time from ess o ess (aka chris stoker and jamie blanco). their original offering, cantillate, isn t an easy beast to identify, being equal parts swamp-rock and techno. imagine you ve stumbled across an ephedrine and moonshine fueled rave in a deep louisiana bayoux in the year 3000, and you re close. add an out-there vocal refrain, and you ll start to appreciate why this is a particularly distinct record. relocate said rave to a some kind of space ship hitting hyperspace, with photon torpedoes fully armed, and you ll suddenly find yourself with the first remix, as created by ene records owner chida.

endlec is a project already appeared on label as mord, authentic pew and panel trax. he came on the old and youngs family with a powerful ep composed by three tracks that cross 90s rave sound and new dark techno. dirty vocal samples and acid lines are the elements that describe the release. in few words... this is techno!

next on raw tools is irish producer and label owner, costelloe, delivering two tracks much in the manner of his previous works, both of them at the fine line between techno and house music.
while the title track, “infiniti” is definitely a dance floor track, with its rave pads and solid bassline, “pheta x” shows a more darker side of costelloe’s music. both of these cuts get special treatment from two of the most prolific and respected producers out there, lerosa and dj overdose, rounding off the ep with two amazing, yet diverse remixes.
