after seeing the banging >red hot< - her first released production - become the all-favorite track on airdrops extraction us compilation, it is a natural step for connie to slip once again into her constar outfit, and release this time her first record, the sunset tribe ep. here, constar does what she does best, take her clan on a ride through different skylines, from the shores of bali in indonesia to the chinese inland mountains. indeed, in sunset tribe the careful listener will hear parts of a kecak ceremony - pronounced keh-chahk , also known as the ramayana monkey chant - a form of balinese musical drama, that roots in a traditional trance-inducing exorcism dance. a piece usually performed by a circle of hundreds of men percussively chanting cak while throwing up their arms, depicting a battle between the monkey vanara and the evil king ravana...
phoenixxx strikes the cord! using elements and melodies of traditional chinese instruments, the pipa, guzheng and erhu, constar takes our journey even further east. allying a bumpy and light-hearted groove to the depth and gravity of the instruments used, constar also offers an exploration into her balanced mind and soul. bringing the witchcraft even further, who better than the craziest wizard-duo electronic music has ever come across, voodeux! celebrating the release of their debut album on mothership, voodeux - aka tanner ross and james watts - create their very own blend of magic potion that no spirit - good or bad - could resist. simply spellbinding and savage, voodeux know the cerebrums fluids inside out, and will work them through their supernatural enchantments!
AMYL NITRATE EP

amyl nitrate (commonly known as popper) is a chemical compound. it has a long history of safe medical use in treating angina. its also often inhaled with the goal of enhancing sexual pleasure.inhaling nitrates relaxes smooth muscles all over the body, including the sphincter muscles of the anus and the vagina. listening to the original version, it is easy to understand the reason behind such a title. a dark and obsessive techno-bass in its depths. acid, nervous loops on the surface. sex and sweat everywhere. here and there, two surrealistic, hypnotic melodies breaking the darkness of the bass loop. a mix of sharp and round, deeper sounds. the vinyl version also features 3 great remixes: the amazing electro-minimal rmx by the hacker, the spiritual-dark rmx by rubÚn montesco and the fresh club rmx by produkkt

played by: baby ford, trickski, julius steinhoff, anthony collins, philip bader, dirty doering, lil tony, kotelett & zadak, karotte,.. _ very special one sided 12 inch_ once again the latest white release is a reinvention of the label itself and pre-announces its early ending years in advance. this release is a very special one... it is from oliver ton and can be understood as the >very last number of the night<, that is why it is catalogued as the white- 999. oliver ton invited many musicians for jamming sessions into the studio of his production partner >ronald christoph<, in order to create a unique sounding. the final results are >hasta el fin< a song, which will turn every afterhour upside down, especially during summer! the song simply has it all. we love its humor and see it as an ironic statement of the minimalhouse hype.... thats why it matches so beautiful to white... or not.... and thats what we love about it, say the creators of white.

played by efdemin, ellen allien, karotte , lawrence, luciano, len faki, monika kruse, raresh, shinedoe... hailing from the southeast asian jungle, globalization, diaspora, and the unchecked native baboon explosion have all seriously endangered patuá, so we are afraid that poor patuá has very few brothers and sisters left in this world. lucky for you, as the vakant freak out bus has transversed the planet so many times now, we have indeed found (gasp) patuá and present patuá here for your delight and revelry. all it took to lure patuá onto the bus was some animal crackers and a 1989 game boy. truly momentous, yes we feel like noah. once onboard we immediately put patuá to work and this double a-side is the result. apparently house is big everywhere. smooth and warm, a-side macaista reaches out to the remaining patuá of this world and says, i am here, do not fret. if patuá reaches out with macaista, aa-side chapado is the reach around. much like his newfound masters, patuá is quite cheeky. thick and spacey chapado is the patuá mating call to all the remaining tribe members earthbound and beyond!

ecordings return with another killer just in time for summer. this ep has everything from smooth, downtempo grooves, to jackin, to deep, vocal house. theres a mix for everyone!blockhead has enlisted hanna (freerange) to bring some serious heat for this new release. with remixes from james curd (greenskeepers)giano, manuel sahagun you cant go wrong. theres a mix for every style of house on this ep. with tons of play from mark farina, the lawnchair generals, dj heather etc... you know its got the goods
the latest gigolo release is one for the summer! aptly titled hot it comes courtesy of ivano coppola and christian prommer, the former being one of italia s most respected dj s and the latter being, amongst other things, one of the main collaborators for hells critically acclaimed album teufelswerk. taking a sample from willie ninjas classic record hot and building a track around the chords and the vocal leads us to our starting point ivano coppola plastic mix!
ivano coppola has been the resident dj at milan s plastic club since 1992, so it is fair to say that he knows what works on a dance floor, or, to use a popular phrase, what is hot and what is not. it is with this historical knowledge that we find the genesis of our track. i found it necessary to go back in the past, to start producing once again in a 90 style - using samples. the next step was to come back into the future and reach out to christian prommer, highly respected by many including ivan i consider (christian prommer) one of the best producers of the moment! he loved the idea, the remix was huge, and so we decided to co-produce the record. simple!!!
but, for christian this was more then a remix, hence the co-production credit! i liked the idea of translating an early 90 s house-music-sample in to a sample-style-percussive-techno-tune. lots of live played drums and percussion in this one, of course. i only later learned that the sample we used is from one of my house music heroes, maws louie vega. naturally the record found its way into the hands of gigolo in the best way possible, and in the tradition of such a great record label – i played it at the gigolo night in munich and hell came to me dancing and took the tune into his heart.

a-list partner for the a-side >trust<, berlin-relocated seth troxler from detroit, has been delivering countless bangers for crosstown rebels, spectral or wolf + lamb and forged quite a reputation for himself. seth brings freshness and freedom in his work as well as in his relationships with the girls! his edgy voice takes off on some sick rumbling percussions, and pairs up all along the track with mind twisting waves and swirling vibes to impulse a dizzying, thus delighting booty-shaking dance. loyal to the house tenets but frivolous with innovations this is straight out of the top drawer, trust us!no less rewarding, the tiefschwarz brothers hit the >roads< on the b-side. the opening steady beat is gradually driven by hypnotic keynotes to a darker path. break! the drums take the lead again, but still infected by the loop, the track goes on, and compels to an irresistible euphoria. far out! tiefschwarz step up once again with a must-have record, be ready for the next things to come!

played by karotte, giles smith (secretsundaze), laurent garnier... already up to its 17th release, yore keeps rolling on, this time with a new release by memory foundation. in 1994 robert hood found his way into a dark basement somewhere in viennas suburbia. mr. hood was impressed by what he had heard, and with him a dat-tape took a long journey back to where techno was invented once. with their first appearance on detroits m-plant label 15 years ago, the memory foundation or one of their many alter egos found its way into the hearts and the record-bags of many serious electronic music lovers. in 1997, after setting up their own record labels central and together with jeremiah grow! and other releases on m-plant, 7th city or usm followed. the memory foundation now returns with their contribution for the yore camp, with their >reptiles in exile ep< they prove that they havent lost their magic touch. the track burns with electro-funk fire, with natural kit and cymbal sounds giving the already-surging cut extra thrust and the staccato burble of metallic chords adding berlin flavour. a lithe eight-note bass motif anchors the warm techno-funk of >bass traveller< as a flaring synth motif squiggles alongside rhodes chords and a boogieing clavinet line, and its easy to become so engrossed by the tunes relaxed swing that the artistry of its arrangement can go underappreciated. textbook body music, >summer visions< is an earthier, mid-tempo funk workout thats sure to get the dance floor crowded, while the light-speed closer >reptiles< blazes a slinky house trail whose fresh swing has got yore written all over it. with any luck, we wont be waiting twelve more years for the next memory foundation release
PINK MOON (180G LP)
12 Inch LP
06.07.09
one of rough trades island 50th anniversary selection - 50 crucial titles, specially selected by us to highlight the unique contribution this seminal label has made to british music since 1959. the results of nick drakes solo sessions were as harrowing and stark as anything by robert johnson or charley patton. enclosed in an inner world of psychological distress, drake recorded pink moons dispatches from a private hell that was simultaneously terrifying and beautiful. both the lyrics and the melodic motifs are pared to the bone here, their simplicity making them all the more immediately striking. the most nakedly emotional and disturbing moment is probably parasite, a visceral but mysterious account of a disconsolate soul roaming through the world in search of succor, with drake taking the starring role, ultimately offering, take a look, you may see me in the dirt. this was the end of the road for nick drake in more ways than one, but just the beginning for the scores of songwriters subsequently inspired by his bleak but beautiful visions.

its already well-known that cocoon recordings is a sucker for tracks that stand out of the usual field of - lets be honest - often uniformly reduced tech-house, and the past nine years of the labels history have proven this sustainably. and the rhein-neckar area based team flatner/lopazz are again two hot candidates to leave their very special mark on the summer of 2009. after all, circlemusic manager alex flatner is rocking the floors as a dj and producer for already 10 years now, having been releasing for labels such as harthouse or black nation, whereas the heidelberg-born stefan eichinger aka lopazz has made himself a name with releases on imprints from the likes of output, international deejay gigolo and mainly get physical. together they celebrate a very funky understanding for percussive techno, which is setting highly meaningful moments for the primetime, particularly by means of lascivious vocals. i wanna take you all night long, for sure! and you definitely cant find a better expression for the perfect pounding symbiosis between bass-focused club stompers and economically dosed pop elements than its time to make up your mind.

after only two releases on 7even recordings f has already made huge waves on the scene with his unique sculpted approach to dubstep and techno.
now he is back with a cut which offers a glimpse at a different side to his productions, dub techno styled a-side >epilogue< comes correct, displaying what is clearly a long time love and appreciation of this music. clean production and atmospheric textures create the backdrop for a distant beat which drills into the psyche, making for a deep 4/4 journey trawling through the late night in a smoky haze.
on the b-side, ramadanman weighs in with a rework which absolutely slays. you could call it garage, you could call it dub-tech, but this track is so fresh, we re sure it ll have the funky house heads on their hands and knees as much as the dubstep crowd, dark as hell too - a total crossover. shit is tight, yo!

the mighty umek gets first crack at c est la vie, turning in a typically straight to the point remake, dropping the distinctive percussive hook over a jackhammer groove. ortin cam (drumcode) adopts a more minimal approach with firing snare rolls and a distorted, buzzing cutup loop of the original hook. rounding out the first part of this package is xpansul (ovum, soma) with a dramatic, stringladen take that bounces along on a tough but funky bassline.

they ve done tons of great remixes for mark knight, d ramirez, patric la funk, dataworx, bodyrox and the list goes on ... now its time to release their own original productions as well. first up is their tech house monster scappiamo which has been requested a lot ever since nice7 + highprofile djs started playing the track in the clubs.
