london label eartoground s final release of 2014 raw material sees another new act joining the label as they welcome on board dualit . this german duo are otherwise known as oliver rosemann from leipzig and mascon from frelberg. recently they have released on such prolific labels as clr, earwiggle and fifth wall records. this release features six tracks, being four originals backed by two centralised locked grooves with full front and back artwork on the sleeve. audio selected for this release gives a good over all presentation of dualit s varied, deep and raw dynamic range of techno.

widely regarded as pioneers of pc music, blacknecks are proud to unveil their final and most shambolically cobbled-together record to date. after 6 half-arsed releases, a couple of half-arsed gigs and a brutally honest interview in a popular far-right culture pamph, all while managing to maintain their stellar uk garage careers, blacknecks are now dead.

this ep is part of a 2 ep series from steve romani (db_24) released on his own label modular machine records, following the urban works series released on ac records. the track *corridor* was previously released on ac_01 in 2009. the tracks mix various styles, to create a special downtempo ep. the 9 minute final track is a self remix of the track *urban maze* under the electro hip hop aka mattamass.

onnsets first release by jamie curnock begins the project with an introduction into the tougher sounds from the label in the form of grown and transportation. truss manages to take this a step further with his punishing remix. as onnset isnt strictly defined by a heavier sound, there is always room for the more experimental, as shown in the opening track extract and the deeper final track scavenger

the platform is extremely crowded, however, and she cant get to mick, who is standing at the opposite end, so she shouts his name. two other passengers relay the message to mick that sue wants to talk with him. what does she want? mick relays back. tell him that im not going to marry richard, sue shouts. why not? mick asks. -because i love you! she relays. when the message finally gets to mick, he tries to make his way through the crowd but he cant get to sue, so he climbs on top of the crowd and walks over the peoples shoulders to get to her. in the final scene, they embrace while the crowd cheers.

bm/cc/cws spectrum debuts the collaborative works of three new york gs: brendon moeller, clay wilson and oliver chapoy aka certain creatures. inspired by each others live performances at an industry of the machines party in may 14, brendon, clay and oliver re-convened for an impromptu recording session a week later. spectrum culls three serpentine heavy-weights from that session. each track warps modular meltdowns into aerobic feats of primed dj mayhem, mixing the visceral with the psychedelic for a twisted take on techno. *spectrum 1* peels queasy melodies off charburned, disintegrating toms that disappear into the howling vortex of *spectrum 2*. the third and final (for now) *spectrum* emission channels the most harrowing moments of the trios live performances - a deliberate, free-form exploration of technos widest fringes and wildest possibilities.

scubas phenix triptych reveals its final panel. a bite-size story in and of itself, and a fitting end-part to the greater sum, 3 feels like the latest acme of a diverse career. this is traditional beginning-middle-end story-telling: silence s call-and-response foretells of a blue funk ahead - funk in the figurative - as nineteen eighty transposes old chicago into an ad rem context. the disquiet continues on the other side, with plateaus exacting techno pulse underscoring astral synth work. tempo and temperature are pushed to an extent worthy of the resolution fade provides with its informal pace, acoustic disposition and celestial chimes

rough house rosie dedicates the sixth release to its japanese listeners with a four track compilation from four different japanese producers. legendary takayuki shiraishi (aka planetoid) releases a track nightfall which was first out in 2002 on a cd slow shoutin . he is teamed up with mitsuaki komamura renowned for his unique sound on record label weedis. miruga (ethereal sound / badance) delivers a strong deep track on b1, while mahal has his debut with a catchy bass driven tune as a final track of the ep.

airplay from steve barker (the wire) on bbc radio and support from tomas rubeck (eshu) among others. kicking off the new fifth interval label, san francisco based dub techno producer federsen heads up the premier release. the title track is a hazy dub techno trip filled with washes of tape delayed chords and crisp snares while the b1 track - 50hz is a far more broken affair, 140 bpm gear comparable to the likes of deadbeat and strategy. for the final track, isodyne (one half of forward strategy group) shakes up 50 hz, slowing it down to an incredibly weighty 115 bpm, finalising an excellent release with something for discerning djs of all tastes.

zone 4 was the first project that i created as a whole idea, the creation of zone 4 started around the time that the final track selection to a new world was taking shape. it sat for a number of years, shelved till the day that i found a label that would honor it the way i had envisioned.

*somebody* is the first single from the new aurra album *body rock* due out later this year on family groove records. once again the world gets to experience a lost disco-funk masterpiece providing another glimpse into the genius mind of slave founding-member steve washington & brides of funkenstein / p-funk singer sheila horne. body rock will be the second and final unearthing of the lost but found master tapes originally recorded for quincy jones qwest imprint in 1984. slap bass, heavy synths, linn drum, sultry vocals... this is modern funk at its finest!
the 24-track master tapes were transferred digitally and then mixed on an ssl board by kamal humphrey at his all-analog flying carpet studios in los angeles. the result is a full sound enhanced by the natural analog process using todays digital technology only when needed to clean up the files.
da-m-funk adds a bit of dirt and grime by putting his signature re-freak on the track. a confirmation from los angeles ambassador of boogie funk that this is in fact the the un-cut funk and nothing but the funk.

token followers can rejoice that now, 2014, surgeon finally makes his official debut on the label. fixed action pattern comes as prequel to aphelion, a forthcoming compilation of new and exclusive material. aphelion will differ from last years token introspective mix cd by providing a collection of bespoke productions from token regulars and like-minded artists who were commissioned by label owner kr!z to bring their individual and complimenting sound to the belgian imprints all-consuming 48th release. following this surgeon 12, rødhåd will release his second record for token before the final unveiling of aphelion.

for our second release on wavereform, we continue our explorations into sophisticated sounds from mostly-unexplored areas with the production debut from juras lietus, a 25 year-old latvian producer from riga whose mysterious origins in this out-of-the-way locale may surprise listeners, but whose sound fits very well into the label’s mission to reform the sound sphere with simple and elegant tracks that demand attention and bring unknown talent deserved notice. lietus wastes no time in showing off his developed dub techno style on >dark frank< as the bold, well-defined contours of the bottom end are contrasted with gentler ambient textures in the opening, it acquires more force as it moves along as he adds harder percussion patterns to the framework while the dense atmospherics progress barely in the background. >direct< is the more subtle and atmospheric of the pair, as crisp, delicate drums develop slowly while also suggesting melody. it too gains strength as it goes though, with ricocheting percussion and a barely-controlled feedback wail leading into a dramatic breakdown before he slowly winds things down in the detail-rich final section. j&#363,,,,,,,ras lietus and latvian techno may be mostly unknown, but this strong showing for wavereform 002 reveals much still to be uncovered in these eastern lands.

4th and final part of this legendary morris audio compilation series bringing some new (origins sound, manooz) and old faces (volta cab, julien sandre), but keeping the house vibe in different shades. up and coming origins sound (glasgow underground, lost) present a bassy pumping uk house tune whereas volta cab (kolour, hypercolour) goes back the the rave days and invites us to some hardcore heaven. the flipside starts with morris audio buddy julien sandre, who is still some kind of secret underground weapon, even if he already released on argys these days label or on tsuba. finishing off the ep is manooz (alive, extended play) with a great deep and raw house tune. this all is for you, seven daze a week!

franz meersdonk und günther willers aka rdf are back on the road. the speedometer obviously tweaked, turned up and back on track. on the way tramper simon sunset got on board, et voila: made himself comfortable in the back cabin. left a bunch of wood back there. they drove the semi right into the sawmill and took care of the rough pre-cut themselves. cutter lowtec supported the two street heroes with all he’s got, or rather, he actually applied his own cutting-machine-operation. simon sunset’s wood cuttings were molded by a bunch of saws, slicers, and files. and for a final fine-tuning herb lf came running out of the canteen. and lo and behold, the machines spit out three beautifully stable pieces of wood with the finest texture- pattern captured in a stable frame of bark. so good was the material to begin with that nothing was left over for old, stinky bark mulch

so far in its fledgling career, the ultra knites label has been populated by collaborations of the same name from the two founders sem marini and mike sharon. this third release sees the pair showcase their talents as solo artists with the first in a series of knite grooves releases, with sharon calling shotgun and manning proceedings on the a side. with a lilting female vocal hook, soft pads and jazzy rhodes touches, -people- is a classicist take on ny house that features some weighty kick drums, whilst -field of dreams- opts for a approach that s more indebted to the likes of mr fingers. marini delivers a peak time bumper in the shape of -voltage- which contrasts nicely with the deep rolling business of final track -music takes me-.

welcoming trikk to truesoul, he brings the quality we have come to expect from both label and artist. his ep starts with deeper point, a track that encompasses heavy techno sounds to create a monster of a track. straight circles (beat mix) repeats and detunes a vocal to engrain it into the memory before prominent highs keep this track moving. the final track bliss drive is different to the rest of the ep and has more of a garage feel to it the funky drums, earth shattering bass line and digital bleeps will knock you sideways!

title track don t stop is a loose and playful thing that chucks loopy, circular drums, little vocal riffs, synth stabs and tumbling toms into the mix and lets them all groove along for almost six infectious minutes. its a spritely, silvery and slithering concoction that makes you shake your every limb. stare is a deeper, darker thing with rattling snares rolling over flappy kick drums and wobbling synths ducking in and out of the space left behind. its a tumultuous, drum lead affair that toys with your expectation, threatening to drop or explode but never quite doing so, instead keeping you right on the edge of your seat throughout. the final offering is nian which again has super well defined drums and hits all tumbling and sparking off each other. it s spacious stuff, too, and the indecipherable foreign language vocals add another layer of intrigue to what is already a fascinating cut.

jiaolong011 sees daphni teaming up with composer/arranger owen pallett (final fantasy/arcade fire/beirut etc..) the a-side has been a staple in daphnis dj sets for the last year delivering bassweight worldwide. *that track is an enigma - when i listen to it at home it seems relatively innocuous but when i play it out all hell breaks loose*, says dan. the b-side is something even more strange and special - tiberius is perhaps the worlds first microtonal electroacoustic violin techno track.

here it is, the tenth and final chapter in the seaghdha story, as lo shea wraps up a monumental series with a special, limited 12 inch & cd compilation package. first up we get four more new tracks on the wax, its on is an atmospheric, driving house jam complete with melodic guitar effects, which ride the groove and combine with the devilishly deep low end to startling effect. got swagger strips things right back to the bone, a skeletal rhythm framework, those trademark atmospherics and rock solid low end. buchsheff sees us back in familiar lo shea territory, with a powerful warehouse rattler. finally to be sure brings it all home with a cinematic ambient piece. as if that wasnt enough we also have a hand-stamped cd comp, featuring those classic cuts from the earlier part of the series, which are now fetching serious change on the second hand market it is a great package, and a serious send off for what has been a hugely successful & widely supported musical endeavour.
