recorded whilst battling insomnia during a cold and bleak berlin winter, jack dixons new ep finds him channeling the light and the dark of his home city. inspired by the bygone euphoria of early analogue techno and the harsh industrial landscape outside his window, the three tracks of those questions swirl vinyl crackle, ghostly rave vocals and human heartbeats around pounding jackhammer bass, intense drops and intricate house rhythms. the result is a perfect encapsulation of the curses and blessings of a sleepless hibernation. it is an atmosphere also present in the hazy drones and pulsating sub-bass of skudges exhilarating, analogue remix of heirloom, the revered swedish duo tuning down the filters and reinterpreting the track as a ghostly and paranoid low-end basement banger.

label boss dj bone mans the controls for the 38th release on subject detroit, laying down a typically fierce, three pronged auditory attack. *what he said* tactfully yet forcefully treads the line between house and techno, cherry picking physiognomies from each side of that ever-blurring line and constructing something fresh but bristling with familiar subject detroit elegances. a favourite fixture from bones more recent dj sets, *i do* sees bubbling, arpeggiated chords simmer and swoop from foreground to background loosely as one solitary, remanipulated ticking hat keeps things in formation. watch out for the thunderous, doubled-up drum arrangement that crashes in to the picture out of nowhere! b side track *rhythm soul funk* is a genuine hard hitter and another that tiptoes between the old school and the nouveau.

und es geht weiter - nach dem geglueckten labelstart von ritter butzke studio sind wir nun bereit für die naechste runde. das zweite release kommt ebenfalls von einem resident des hauses, naemlich patryk molinari, dessen >addicted to the vibe ep< schon ueber ihren namen deutlich macht wohin die musikalische reise gehen wird. die a-seite >addicted< ist ein 80s angehauchter track ohne dabei wie ein abklatsch aus alten zeiten zu wirken. getragen wird der song durch ein massives bass-fundament wozu sich dann im spaeteren verlauf noch wohlige pads und eingaengige weibliche vocals gesellen, welche den tracktitel besingen - >im so addicted!< die b-seite bietet dann mit >neon vibe< einen schoenen kontrast dazu. hier hat patryk wesentlich fokussierter auf den groove gearbeitet ohne dabei in die belanglosigkeit abzudriften. fuer die noetige spannung sorgen die tiefen maennliche vocoder-vocals, gutdurchdachte chord-rhythmen und natuerlich das punktgenaue drumming, welches sofort zum mitgrooven animiert. zu diesem track haben dann noch kotelett & zadak einen remix beigesteuert, der sich natürlich am original orientiert, ihm aber zugleich einen ganz anderen charakter verleiht. die beiden haben das thema deutlich percussiver aufgegriffen und den groove dann zusaetzlich mit einer sehr praegnanten bassline untermalt. das abwechslungsreiche arrangement und diverse effektspielereinen sorgen dafuer, dass mit sicherheit keine langeweile beim hoerer aufkommen wird. alles in allem ein sehr rundes release, wie wir finden, und daher hoffen wir dass es auch bei euch wieder auf anklang stoßen wird!

a 4-track package traversing house and techno. first up jour de fete, a reference to the black and white 1940s french comedy – perhaps a clue to mr georget… one things for sure this is toe-tapping house. taking its time to perfectly build up the progression towards smooth outbursts of wailing sirens. 6eme etape is another fine example of get-up-and-dance house, theres plenty of driving drum kick and jazzy key chords, nicely pulled back and interrupted, to drop back in again with a renewed energy. poil de renard on the other hand immediately marks out its territory among the german minimal and micro house space. strong, syncopated beats laced with chopped up whispers and unknown reverberations, this is tough! the 103 mix softens up the edges, a subtle underlying synth providing the mellowness – essentially your morning-after dub version.
