the duo from uruguay monoblock are back with another deadly combination of tracks. finally the time has come to release (on vinyl only) the bootleg entitled >in-tensiones<. a complex remix using several horn parts and held together by a labyrinth of percussion. the result is a monster of a groove backed by samples from one of jazzs all time greats.
next up is >soul whispers<. looking for a dark groove that fuses fine minor chords and sultry whisper like vocals then look no further. monoblock again create a shaker of a groove that keeps things flexing all whilst keeping the floor pondering and guessing at whats to come. a super funky combo that monoblock have built their reputation on!

>i have always had close ties with fabric and this time they have really paid off. fabric were putting together a new cd called >elevator music< that featured a lot of the new uk drum n bass/house hybrid material coming out right now. they sent me a couple tracks by a new guy named julio bashmore which i really liked. literally the next night i had a gig in bristol and julio came to the show and gave me even more tracks. these were my favorite two tracks of his. i really like this mix of jungle and house. i also like this new breed of producer who isn’t scared or mired in tradition. i’m definitely feelin it!<

another show stopper from french outfitles umins. its all about the remixes on this dope three tracker, as home and garden kick things off with a tough, synth heavy retro 80s mix thats a totally new sound for these boys. on the flip brett johnson shows why hes the man, killing the floor with a truly bugged out take on the original thats just got prime time madness written all over it. sounds like a bit of plastikmans spastik in there! icon on point with an essential underground release.

mr dehnert delivering! after is succesfull releases on fachwerk and the first basement series release its time for another essential techno release by mike dehnert. after the little hype on the many blogs its another release that will create a stir. lautschrift is probably the sexiest masculine techno track we ve heard in a while! a wolf in sheep clothes. undercooled phat techno drive with a nice mellow vocoder voice, soft bleepy sounds and a deep sub-bass... and then slowly the sexy bassline becomes more and more dominant and energetic and the tracks turns into a killer. amazing track! regelschrift and nano are two heavy techno tracks from the neue berliner techno schule. just as we like it!

sex tags mania with more leftfield dance music... the label just does what they feel and that goes from crazy nordic afro funk (see recent sex tags amfibia release) to intens house tracks, uptempo techno or just raw low-key tracks like this one. they have at least one major fan called omar s who loves the label!

adam beyers drumcode is synonymous with the global sound that is techno. never content with resting on previous achievements, drumcode has taken on a fresh relevance in 2009 with a string of standout tracks from a new wave of producers like paul ritch, alan fitzpatrick, joseph capriati and tiger stripes to sit alongside established names like joey beltram, joel mull and adam beyer.

both sides are ace! a side is a psychedelic afro track with a great bassline coming like straight from those early house tracks we all love so much. runner up is a love boat style disco track, in perfect balance, bringing you visions of half naked girls on the sandy beaches of portugal. tiago is dropping another couple of dancefloor bombs, thats for sure!

all the tracks on this double vinyl demonstrate his innovative approach to music, running the full spectrum from soft ambient interludes to the more uptempo beat trickery. accept manages to combine both extremes and is an apt opening track, demonstrating the two faced nature of aardvarcks productions, highly constructed beats and beautiful melodies. taa baa sounds like it emerged straight out of londons co op, though aardvarck has not been to this broken beat mecca. th #1 is pure ambient bliss and followed by the deep spacious beats of dim. steps is based around a seriously crunched up hip- hop break, think domu scrapping with the funkstorung boys. the original version of zom is track 7 (ignore the tracklisting on the cd) whilst the stunning remix by attica blues tony nwachukwu is actually track no. 17. upset is based around deep raw bass, the structure of the track is created with pin point beat work. flight simulator is a silky smooth journey, proving that aardvarcks beats dont have to be broken. the stuttered synchopated bass stabs of th#3 combined with its fearsome breaks push the edge of the nu jazz envelope and gentle is an uptempo number combining the skip of 2 step with smooth german jazz styles - one for the quirky jerky types on the dancefloor. th#6 is another deep ambient soundscape helping to ease the pressure after the frantic percussion of knet. stampot shows aardvarcks ability to counter fearsome rhythms with melancholy chords, the forward flowing synths float the listener over the near chaotic drum programming. finally, the album closes with the weeping strings and treated piano of anders, bizarrely twisted and warped sonics. one beautiful voyage!

after the debut albums from future beat alliance and aardvarck, delsin strikes again with this very deep soulful ambient techno album by dimension 5. until now dimension 5 did have only released one 12, but one which was directly praised by fabrice lig, laurent garnier and others. his album alien artform holds both deep, ambient like techno to listen to (think: john beltran & detroit escalator company) as well as more dancefloor-aimed material, without losing the soft touch, (think: kenny larkin & aril brikha). this is (detroit) techno as it is meant to be: soulful & deep. should appeal to fans of aril brikha, d.e.s. and the dubbier german techno stuff. tip!

sebo ks last release on mobilee, diva, was a hit, and one of mobilees most popular tracks in 2008. since then hes primarily stayed under the radar, popping up only momentarily to release a track on cecille in july of 2009. with his new release spirits, sebo returns not only to mobilee but also to the sonic tropes that propelled him to success in the first place. undulating melodics that stretch like rubber bands, a funky bass line, and a jacking house beat: within the first few seconds of hearing spirits one immediately recognizes the slew of sounds with which sebo k made his name. the track takes its time to build as well, riding the groove for a bit before bringing a singular, high pitched note into the picture. as it continually gains momentum and rises in intensity, the captivating sounds of a piano arrive, adding yet another layer of familiar and hypnotic melody. all the tracks components merge seamlessly, with percussive accents here and there until staccato strings make a dramatic entrance, fluttering and dialogue with the rest of the tracks components. by the end of the track, the piano has gotten back in the drivers seat, steering the track along it s course. the drum version builds off the vintage house sounds of the a-side but substitutes extensive percussion from max moya for the strings and piano

played by karotte !!! with his newest ep on wagon repair (ghosts in the ai - wag058), mathew jonson looks to both the past and future to create a stunning release. track 1 - ghosts in the ai - is the first solo production that was made in wagon repairs new berlin studios. finally, in a real place to work, and with a lot of new gear to play with, mathew focuses on evoking both the future and technology to wonderful affect. track 2 - technology - comes from mathews past as it was created around the same time as tracks like octagon came out on iiwii. originally, it was going to be the first cut on his debut album that he was planning to release. on the day that mathew was looking for a b-side track for the ghosts in the ai ep, his brother, nathan (hrdvsion), played it over the phone asking him why he had not released it, as it was one of nathans favourites. it worked much better than the other track that was going to be on here so thanks, hrdvsion. track 3 - the alchemist - comes from mathews involvement this summer producing the music score for the old classic silent film faust, which was screened, complete with cobblestone jazz playing the score live, at the 2009 timewarp festival. the alchemist was written for the scene when faust is working in his laboratory then walks out into the snow to summon the devil to help with his work. a fitting piece indeed!
