sound of the 16th season people have their personal rituals. leaving the international space station russian space travelers left some bread and salt as a welcome gift for their american colleagues. tennis star serena williams bounces the ball exactly five times before her first serve. our beloved master of ceremony of techno music, sven vath, has a ritual as well: when the shadows on the island ibiza grow longer and the noise of the summer is about to fade away, he takes a couple of days off and reminisces the passing season, the parties, the crowds and the music: what were the craziest, the most outrageous, most beautiful moments? which situations, which encounters inspired me? what did we laugh about? and of course: what was the best music? which tracks accompanied me and my cocoon people during those intense weeks? vath assembles those magical tracks for the sixteenth time this year merging them into two and a half hour set.

in april of this year, donato dozzy took a set of mouth harps back to his parents house in the italian countryside and set about exploring the possibilities of that most basic of instruments. the mouth harp had been calling to dozzy ever since childhood, when he had discovered the marranzano on a holiday in sicily with this parents at the tail end of the 1970s. almost four decades later, dozzy had begun to see in this peculiar, ancient sound, the roots of the music hed been making and playing in clubs all these years.

the records fundament are slow, powerful beats which hold everything together springintgut has been responsible for the studio production at most times while f.s. blumm, experienced for years in making radio plays, has handled the mixing and collaging of the parts. the bird and white noise invites to join the travels, and in its long arches and bridges it can easily be listened to as a whole. while the opener or eskimono feature the rather lyrical side of the duo, tracks like land ab neu or chitin set more punchy priorities to a heavy bass and 808 drums. chitin is a late climax of the album, building up for minutes to a massive groove in an insect-like, abstract sound world, leaving just enough space for romantic cello lines to break through in the middle. the record has been released exclusively in japan for the duos tour in april 2014 via pingipungs partner label nightcruising in kyoto. pingipung now releases the lp version and the cd worldwide

the 1970s saw winston wright working closely with dynamic sounds studios nucleus of musicians cutting material for all the top producers of the time including numerous sides for bunny striker lee, which we have focused on for this set of tunes. from 1975 onwards winston wright was a member of toots and the maytals touring band, but we celebrate here his mighty fine studio work. adding his touches to many a fine rhythm as only winston could we hope you enjoy the set.
