after firstly appearing on dials 2010 compilation, kassian troyer shows up with an adventure into wonderful sounddesigned technomusic. these four pieces of deeply grooving structures might r be influenced of early works by jan jelineks farben project, the swing of stl and the deep rooms of pole. that is no coincidence at all. kassian troyer who studied sound engineering and production has been responsible for the live mixing of stefan bethke aka pole and lots of other artists like andrew peckler and pantha du prince. while working on the mixing of efdemins chicago album he became related to dial records- his first demo tracks were an ingenious discovery for dials eccentric family.

simon bakers debut album traces saw the london based producer record a superb, honest reflection of his influences and took his deep house sound into a long playing format that was critically acclaimed across the board. let me in was one of two tracks that featured vocals from debukas that were highlights of the album, and it returns in original album version and with an excellent remix from lee curtiss. lee curtiss is currently riding high after great releases on spectral sound and get physical, an excellent cd compilation for watergate and as part of the visionquest collective. his version is a remix in the truest form, he treats the original with respect, but twists and turns it very much into his own track, perfectly fine tuned for club sets and soundsystems. this combined with the awesome original provides another essential simon baker and 2020vision collaboration

HELL TRANSFORMATION SCREENS
12 Inch
28.02.12
astounding new material beamed via shemales atomic allotment, concealed in an outermost shadowy recess of darkest hyperborea. the musical paintbrush creates a harsh, barren landscape for hell transformation screens as deeply brooding electro and dramatic synthesisers propel each musical journey in its own unique style.there is an indescribable and mystifying tension which builds within the work of shemale, the opening cut, dead city photographs being a prime example. the soundbite here simply cannot pay justice to this tack as a whole,as the intro (which incidentally cannot be heard in the sample) is quite simply outstanding, with deadly, steely synths preparing the listener for an unmistakable and impending doom, which is ultimately realized in the dense, desolate sense of desperation interpreted in the final ambient-drones of tomb. converted followers of the atmospherically articulate shemale will need no further persuasion,as this will undoubtedly be a compulsive steal, but for those with an appetite for the darker side of twenty-first century electro, then there has never been a better moment to plunge into the shadows of atomic allotment. special limited edition pack includes matte postcard insert.

with new artist noah pred, the highgrade family adds another exciting voice to the labels musical cosmos. although the canadian producer, dj and founder of his own label thoughtless is already internationally saavy, he recently decided to move to the worlds hub of electronic music and pitch his tent in berlin. included in his luggage: his very own creative perspective, a great sense for aesthetics and an unerring feeling for music, learnt in part, from his many years as a bassist. noahs first ep for berlin label, highgrade records sets an exciting precedent. the track >motive unknown< trickles organically into the aural canals, before the drips become digital drops and the track comes crashing from the speakers in a steady flow. the entire piece is simultaeneously suspended and captivating. no wonder then, that the remixes from deepchild and phonokemi manage to bring out further different facets of a already multifaceted track. while deepchild brings a dub element, phonokemi move the tune into darker musical territory. its brought back with noah preds folding cranes, which follows the thread through a musical universe infused with pounding and grinding percussion.

arjun vagale and tim richards have never met in person, they are cyber friends like a million of other people in the world. their huge musically respect for each other formed the idea to do some music together and kaiserdisco is very proud to present you the result! with a first listen you can say she said is a typical tech-house tune but when you play it again and again you see it is full of little highlights which makes the song so special and catchy. its a very cool combination of beats, drums and top loops which makes this track so energetic. the remarkable break makes the track so unique and turns the club into an inferno. the second track tonkatsu is a real techno-bomb. a very deep bassline combined with the galloping beats keep this track running and running until it falls intothe break wich makes this track even more ecstatic and brings it up to an amazing primtime-stomper, that lets the crowd go crazy and scream but all in a very cool and undergroundy way.this tune is really outstanding and one of the best tracks in our box for weeks.

breaking-through in berlin is not an easy task and that is exactly what mike wall, the latest artist to join the hidden recordings family is doing with a remarkable release showcasing the versatility, artistry and pure soul that goes into making music for the big room. mikes talent first came to hidden recordings with his darker, jacking rendition of 014hr m.a.d.a. + planktons >antiz<. additionally, his inventive, high octane jams have found themselves on such high profile labels such as sleaze, on and on and pluseins. additional firepower enlisted for thre release comes two men who we deeply admire. the first is somebody who is making us re-think the boundaries of techno, the elusive and mysterious xhin from stroboscopic artefacts and clr. the second comes from splatter, with his evil and dark chugging glitched out trade-mark sound that will tear up danceflooors and leave you shaking in all the right ways. the combination of the originals and remixes will also be getting the deluxe vinyl treatment that followers of hidden recordings have come to expect – watch for it in february. we are proud and excited to share this one with you as we believe mike wall is a diamond in the rough. use these wisely to get your dance-floor moving and feedback is encouraged and welcome.

photonz have taken no prisoners in 2011. following their dancefloor destroying third release on one eyed jacks alongside tiago they up the heat yet again with a first outing on dont be afraid. spectre is surely destined to please fans of oni ayhun, joy orbison, and other forward thinking house music producers alike with its jaded xylophone hooks and cold as ice groove. wall is a slice of trademark photonz portuguese acid, an infinite groove that builds and builds. dokos is a more downbeat, tracky number which will slot nicely into the sets of djs who favour the old school house sound of chicago and detroit. prometheus catches the pair at their most experimental, upping the tempo and unleashing an ambitious techno juke roller which is as much machinedrum as it is the sound of 1990s techno circa pacific records and plink plonk.

upon.you’s next release steps out of europe and into the americas with a timeless ep from brooklyn natives tim xavier and camea. tim, a passionate producer and co-owner of manmade mastering in berlin, has teamed up in full force with camea for this stunning work, who is the owner of one of america’s most successful techno labels: clink recordings. camea has driven herself onto international stage in recent years and is touring around the world as a successful djane. the a side, brooklyn sunset 1989, is an emotionally charged piece stemming from vintage 80s melodies and broken drum patterns, epically beautiful and romantic. in contrast, the b side features man vs. universe, a dance floor driver that uses tims powerful percussive techniques to achieve an energetic crate essential. the duo takes things down for the last two installments, diamonds hitting the groovy a.m. spot.
ANVERS EP
12 Inch
20.02.12
from the start of this debut release from amsterdam-based lapien, one conceives that the young producer is conscientious. >anvers<, the french name for belgian port antwerp, starts in unassuming manner, synths swimming, bass pondering, a gentle cymbal tapping. its the sound of thoughtful admiration, as if lapien is standing in front of the citys towering gothic cathedral, motionless in the midst of a now modern metropolis. but then, as loops spring uncomfortably back and an insistent beat thunders into the fray, one realizes that this is no time for admiring architecture: this is a night drive through the city – coarse orange streetlamps, chrome blue reflections, droplet-stained window panes. it is, also, at an unusually and unsettlingly fast pace, dragging its deeper house timbres and textures upwards. conforces mix is anything but restful: alarms in the distance fall around offbeat rhythms of increasingly diverse dynamics, bringing rain down on the city at night. to end, fred ps composition is heavy & uncompromising, yet it quivers with synths washed in beautiful, calming ambience
>aspen< is the name of christian loefflers single before his debut album on ki called >a forest<. the name of the single is not to be misunderstood as a dedication to the ski resort in colorado. its rather a dedication to christian loefflers home region in the north of germany. loeffler walked out into the forests near darss, to take field recordings of the trees that commonly grow in that area, which are called >aspen<. the landscape near darss is characterized by signs of storm and rough sea climate, but is also considered as a popular health resort in germany. the tracks on >aspen< create this contrary atmosphere: noise and silence, destruction and peacefulness, electronic sounds and traditional instruments unite in harmony. the cover artwork for >aspen< was taken by christian loeffler himself in the forests of darss.

seven tracks on the new lowriders release and its a real joy to listen to! the ep opens with the cheerful title track with the likes of kissey on vocals and it is amazingly sticky and feels like a compendium of 30 years of electronic music, with seemingly effortless transitions between detroit house, booty bass and future music.baby treats you on a twostep/house bumper which will kill you. bek is like your 808 swingbeat ghetto track: redundancy to the bone covered with bubbles and some essential vocoder science. sduk makes baby into a dancefloor stomper, whereas starkeys interpretation of field (which appeared on our beatitude compiler) adds and enhances drama and suspense from the original.and then there is the magical krampfhaft remix of tic tac toe, a worthy last track, schizofrenic, driven and recognizable as a mutated juke screamer.

hotflush presents the return of sigha with a new ep entitled >abstractions i-iv<, his sixth on the label. on this release he reaches into darker territory, beginning with a beatless, ambient suspension, drawing the listener in his submerged sonic sphere before dropping into a series of chilling compositions that seem to seethe and smolder at sub-zero temperatures, adorned with haunting electronic blips and synthetic machinations throughout. having already gathered support from many figures in the electronic world over the last year including marcel dettmann, brendon moeller and francois k, as well as making appearances on scubas recent dj-kicks mix compilation with >where i come to forget< amongst others, james shaw continues to make his mark with >abstractions<.

for his debut on circus recordings maher teams up with fellow montreal man michael gracioppo aka casa. with a successful 8bit ep under his belt, plus a remix of homeworks >i m into this<, the canadian is a talent to keep an eye on. >malgra< sees the pair plunging deep under the jungle canopy. xylophone melody, drum rolls and dramatic breaks help create a unique atmosphere.
a bumper remix package is lead by kaiserdisco who bring their trademark funk with a weighty, warped baseline and euphoric break.
new zealands emerson todd follows us recent smash on saved with a smooth house workout. from the sleekness of that mix to the downright trip-tastic rework from new boys, acid mondays. these cats have been playing with those tree frogs again!

WORLD UNKNOWN 5
12 Inch
14.02.12
the first world unknown 12 inch of 2012 is a double header of throbbing midtempo techno and as with all world unknown releases from now on both tracks have been mastered for vinyl from ½ inch tape for maximum sonic excellence. on side w semtek from dont be afraid joins forces with his afterparty alter-ego chardonnay and a certain rather well known og hipster poet on >tacos for dinner<, an extremely modern and massively psychedelic trip into the outer mind. this clicking, bleeping, fizzing and throbbing ten minute excursion has been road tested from acetate by andy blake for many months and always sends the club somewhere very special and ever so slightly scary. on side u scott fraser delivers >remains the same<. its a notch or two less pacey than side w but no less powerful or psychedelic. its earthy vibe and pounding, throbbing tones have been part of andrew weatheralls sets for some time now and its not hard to see why. when the full percussion finally comes crunching in like a breakbeat on top of the ever-present heavyweight bassline its disco pandemonium time. in short, possibly the best 12 inch so far from wu.

the name dachshund is one immediately associated with experimantation, an innate feeling for ryhthm and good dose of tongue and cheek. the swiss dj, producer and label founder can scarcely hide his musical roots in reggae. the sunshine feeling from those days still shines through in his current productions and gives them a touch of dub. his latest ep for highgrade records is no different. this leads to the first track >extensive talk< with its reduced beginning sounding something like a false start. gloomy voices implore us to >come, sit down, forever<.this delusion establishes itself in a musical theatre, while simultaneously becomming more pressing as the track winds its way into the legs – moving inexorably towards the second groovy track, >asymmentric love<, with its sprinkle of varied and original sound ideas. the final offering, >octogone< goes even further and weaves original loops and straight edged percussion into a compelling carpet of sound.
