californiabased producer damon bell could not find a more suitable home for his new 12inch than croatian label burek. its his first one since blues for the libyan lp released in 2015. for deepblak, and it sounds as if the time off was well spent. two words that perfectly describe this record are rich and colourful, and the description is equally applicable to all three cuts. stand by me is a synthheavy piece built around the interplay between tracks rougher sounds and big lush pads. on the flipside, life is slightly faster and more direct, with a wonderful guitar part that circles around the main theme throughout the most of the track. similarly mannered, but slightly more intense transatlantic journey? we been here! is the last piece and features an infectious groove with lead synth piercing through layers of delicate arpeggios playing in the background. all in all, it feels good to have damon in the team. we hope youll enjoy this record

four remixes from the youth stand up! album that was released on autonomous africa late in 2015 by jd twitch, midland, auntie flo and general ludd. youth stand up! is a collaborative recording project between glasgos green door studio, lebeha drumming center in hopkins, belize, and the tafi cultural institute based in tafi atome, ghana. all proceeds will go to tafi cultural institute, tafi atome, ghana and lebeha drumming center, hopkins, belize.

in 2007, renowned french producer julien jabre tracked down the american gospel singer phyliss mckoy joubert on myspace. joubert was already a cult figure for house aficionados thanks to -stand on the word-, a song she wrote and performed with her -celestial choir- in 1982 that became a staple of the club scene in new york. it resurfaced as a mysterious bootleg in 2000. julien, who d fallen in love with the song, was eager to remix and officialy rerelease it. when he finally reached out to phyliss, she explained the multitrack tape had been lost. the only thing to do was rerecording it-along with 10 other tracks. today on french label elias, julien and the joubert singers are releasing -stand on the word- in its original and unique 1982 version (mistakenly named after larry levan) and 3 brand new mixes including a fresh dimitri from paris remix. that s how the good lord works!

ltd warehouse found... the joubert singers – stand on the word remixes available 12inch, including larry levan mix and exclusive reworks by patchworks, panoptikum arkestra & walter mecca. originally recorded live in the first baptist church in crown heights, nyc, in 1982 under celestial choir and pressed only for the congregation, it was then enlighted by walter gibbons (owner of jus born studios and a new born christian at the time of the recording), who acquired a copy and played it out at the 7th av. rock and soul shop, where he worked. >stand on the word< was walters biggest record at the time, says colin gate, who visited the church in order to track down the origins of the song.

one night stand is jam factorys third release, a collaboration with new york-based vocalist mattie safer (formally of the rapture) over two 12 inches. this first 12 inch features the original version - a piano-driven chicago style anthem with heavy drums and a touch of acid. mattie delivers a classic house performance in his own instantly recognisable style. on the flip are two different dubs, one an incessant barrage of pianos, the other a thick slice of acid. this release is only available on vinyl.

anyone who advertises on their facebook site that they create music for dogs while working under the name dachshund must have a sense of humor. and indeed, it seems the swiss dj, producer and label boss doesnt think much of sterile production and is prepared to use his sence of passion and fun to create rhythms of every kind in his work. perhaps this is a legacy of dashshunds musical roots: in the 90s he played in various reggae bands, which eventually took him to jamaica. from the sunny islands he brought back a dub influence which can still be heard in his music today. he has already proven, with his highgrade debut on the >group of connected heads compilation, his feeling for up-beat, bouncy rhythms. nothing has changed with his first solo release on highgrade. groovy, original and funky, it booms from the speakers. that the first track is called >stand firm<, must be due to the humor of dachshund: the beats immediately encourage you to do the exact opposite… shake your booty!
