so gerd and philipp were due to play xoyo one saturday night and the club is 6 minutes from my studio so i suggested we go there first to make tunes for a few hours. we made 2 songs that night and one of them is �reach out�. gerd did the drums on my 808, philipp wrote the beautiful lead part on my obxa and i did the bass in my cs80. i added the words a couple of weeks later, they are inspired by leonard cohen�s letter to his muse marianne ihlen on her deathbed. when alexander (boddika) got in touch asking for some new fresh music i knew it was a really important step for me. nonplus is a stable reference label in the techno scene and it was a unique opportunity. i thought the open minded philosophy of the label would help me a lot and i could create more experimental works. i decided to produce the tracks in almost one take� turned on the synths and looked for the perfect range and character of sounds and spent some weeks recording it, finishing with some edits before the final mixing. the final results were more than expected. harmonic rain, the ep mains track has a really special groove, with a main melody which is transposed and slightly altering it gives me a good feeling. the ep feels to me like a complete journey itself. with peak time tracks, and more experimental and warm up music. loops but not loops. in summary, im really happy with this release and with the beginning of this musical relationship with boddika and the nonplus team.

nested structure is the first great circles release from artists outside of philadelphia. thrive are tetsuya yoshida and hitoshi kojima. they both grew up in the north kanto area of japan. they first met at the club run by tetsuya yoshida called sound a base nest, which is known as having the best sound system in the north kanto area. in 2007, the duo started their dj / producing unit thrive. previous releases have included a split 12inch with keia yano for japanese label struct, and recent solo releases by hitoshi for always human tapes and for his own label ambivalent deviation. this record almost didnt happen! � tetsuya and hitoshi were picking up great circles records in japan and, having periodically communicated with each other about music, they sent us the struct 12inch to check out. while cleaning out the back of the car a few months later, the presumably empty record mailer was about to land in the recycle bin when we fortunately discovered a demo cd of unreleased thrive material inside. we drove around listening to it and week later we agreed to release a 12inch. the music on the nested structure 12inch is dark, foreboding, even outwardly threatening. its hypnotic, textural and rhythmically complex.

the grooves of thomas white and pete williams aka natural rhythm, have been a mainstay in the sets of robsoul boss phil weeks for more than a decade. today he pays �tribute� with a special re-release of some of his favourites. born in a garage in the late 90�s, natural rhythm was a meeting of passionate musical minds. working together the pair sought to create their own style and sound, influenced by the tracks they were regularly spinning in their own dj sets across the country. creative sampling and their own raw beats, together with live instrumentation and regular guest vocalists, saw natural rhythm create a strong catalogue that, as we know, are still getting played today. with three albums and over 35 ep/single releases to their name, there more than enough music for label boss weeks to select from for the tribute ep. a tough job? of course. however, phil went straight for the four that never leave his box. leading the ep are the sun-drenched vocal vibes of �something big�, the title track of natural rhythm�s 1999 release on under the counter. our a2 is the lead track from 2001�s last call at the martini ranch ep, �chicago nights�, with its quaking bassline and disco dalliance. on the flip we�re treated to a choice selection from natural rhythm�s 1999 double album contrast in nature. first up with its celestial chimes and thumping kick is �smoldering island�, taken from the original part 1. closing the tribute release and taken from part 2 is the devilishly funky and suitably titled feelgood jam �energized�. we definitely are!

alcis three part series titled early beginnings draws to a close and firmly cements the young swiss producer as a house music star in the making. alcis first ever demo was sent to phil weeks at the start of 2013, and so impressed was the robsoul chief that he instantly signed all 10 tracks to the label. alci, robsoul and phil weeks are an ideal match, as this third installment shows once again, with his funky, looped, sample-based and heads-down jacking house beats aligning perfectly with both phils and the labels philosophy and output. its also clear to hear the influence of the classic french house sound & robsouls interpretation of it in alcis music. the first two volumes in the early beginnings series picked up support from mosca (radio 1 play), darren emerson, roberto rodriguez, round table knights, matthias vogt, dirty channels, catz n dogz, rolando, hot toddy and many more

h a ll o h a l os first release and it is 001 for revno records also ... off to good start we think! h a ll o h a l o is a stockholm based anglo swedish unit formed when jon dasilva (hacienda/rush hour/ellum/soma) met inventor and multi instrumentalist jonas nilsson in the first week in his new home, stockholm. apparently nilsson and dasilva became best friends sharing their more nuttier studio obsessions� here h a ll o h a l o serve up some killer italo - flavoured disco and deep house with the doubleheader tuff beat / yessir. this is electronic music of the highest order�muscular and inventive and, dare i say, very future�in a blade runner kind of way! which brings us neatly to the name, which, according to the pair, is a pretend title for a philip k dick novel. there is no pretending with the music though ... ace deep house - incoming!

we are super stoked to have this killer ep out on local talk as we have been big fans of both c.r.s.t. and chesus productions for good while now. as these guys are down with both house music and the uk garage scene we get served an ep that combines the best of both styles. the result is a jacked up house release that would work equally well at the classic new jersey zanzibar club or in your dirty london basement club. the first three tracks (monster munch, newark and life) takes us on a deep and jackin house trip with a bouncy garage twist. but to stir things up a lil extra the last track (special) goes all disco with some soulful philly samples ... perfect for the southport weekender crews!
