italian rudeboy ivan iacobucci brings his brand of lowdown funk-influenced tech house to apollonia with this sterling three-tracker. over two decades of hard work and dedication to his craft has culminated in ivan’s untainted reputation and widespread respect within the underground from true heads like zip and, of course, the apollonia boys. his love of jazz in evident throughout this ep which is full of subtlety and depth, pulsating b-lines and smooth chords are interlaced with razor-sharp percussion and delicate keys. the first track ‘old in on’ has a laid back, though driving, groove, pushing forward with a hefty bassline that is perfectly counterbalanced by the light twinkling keys and barely-there pads. ‘scris frumos’ encapsulates more of an ominous, tribal feeling with intricate effects trickling through every pore of its deep, dark exterior. its atmospherics keep you intrigued, voices echo in the background and a few moments of softened chimes really intensify the already mysterious vibe. ‘mini ass’ channels more of that electro-funk that forms the foundation of ivan’s love for music, haywire radio pulses prance around stuttered beats, giving it a slightly cosmic feel, while pipes add a more organic nuance to the track. absolutely masterful work from ivan, and another inspired addition to the apollonia catalogue.

to celebrate fifty fathoms deeps 2nd year of pressing we asked some of our favourite producers to remix a selection of cuts from our back catalogue and as expected they ve all come up trumps! the ep opens with fouk boys riding the groove on their remix of ugly drums don t let life (passing by) then thatmanmonkz goes left of centre with his reimagining of phil asher feat james massiahs move ya self. on the flip new zealand s frank booker comes correct on his take of lay-fars triptych to round off a great package. the ep is a fitting way to mark another year of quality music from fifty fathoms deep.

on the first side side we got the title track kings & queens, featuring carlo and the unique voice of the singer / songwriter gjaezon. trippy chords combined with whirling hi-hats give that track a special melancholic, dark and warm feeling. perel transformed the second track speakerbox straight into a club banger - jacking grooves and cut up vocals by gjae, thats how we like it. and now sit back and relax while ranko serves you his cocktail of slow-motion funk and dubby grooves in his clarapark remix. on the flip side oliver gehrmann starts with his version of speakerbox: a floating and melodic sunrise hymn, including such a rolling bassline that your feet will do all the work for you. odysea take you back to the golden age of house music, therefor the boys created a soulful remix with majestic strings that give you nothing but goose bumps.

uber bring the new mushrooms project ep. a slight diversion for uber into the cosmic afro infused musical stylings that the mushrooms boys are masters. madrugada s tribal energy is reminiscent of tony esposito or tullio de picopo. the italian afrobalearic groove that we at uber love so much. the big boobs is a slower more contemplative track, still holding onto the percussive feel but with hints of the east. i suspect the title is influenced by last summers trip to the great outdoors in birmingham. finally we come to the epic musical journey that is african obsession. continuing the fine italian tradition of tribal dance music this is a tight superbly produced trip into afrocosmiche. 15 minutes of hypnotic beauty. uber hitting the spot again.

revisiting the artists that started it all, the odd boys return to sol asylum for another full length ep on the label. bringing their known flavor of funk and all things odd, we are happy to present the seventh release on sol asylum filled with >cosmic energy<. vortex shows the boys fine tuned producing skills and showcases their well-developed expertise with analog production techniques to create futuristic sounds. the elegant track takes us to a far off place with traveling basslines and glimmering synths with just enough dirt recorded from their analog tape to get that distinctive odd sound. taking us back to ancient egypt with pyramid we are taken into a thought forming incubator of divine cosmic landscapes with swinging razor blade hats, pulsating synth lines, rolling techno grooves and their signature tweaked percussion. finishing off this planetary trip through the odd galaxy with sphere, we are orbited into an emotional realm with alluring pads that are accompanied by arpeggiated synth lines that levitate you to a state of bliss.

originally released on richie hawtins minus label a decade ago, restore stands alone as houles very first long-player and helped to establish his penchant for the quirkier side of techno and his superlative production skills. spread across three 12inches & 11 tracks it encapsulated the dark, minimal, groove-driven sound purveyed by hawtin and the rest of the minus crew, while retaining a strong sense of houles unique character and identity. now its the perfect time to breath new life into an album that has stood the test of time, still utterly infectious and absorbing - a collection of music that captures an era of stripped back, yet captivating sounds. 10 years since its release, the album is getting the remix treatment and marc has called in some of the very best in techno talent to give restore a fresh makeover.

early support from raresh, fred p. julietta, dana ruh!! after a first year of spellbinding releases, sol asylum returns in 2015 with a fresh various artist’s compilation featuring three finely crafted tracks from the sol asylum crew to kick-start the labels second year. bringing together a family of artists who have been there since the very beginning. starting off with the odd boys danny and damian, we go all the way back to the first release with a brand new remix of broken spell. whisking us away to a parallel universe of this odyssey, this remix is masterly conjured into a percussive exploration of the planet of odd. following the odd ones, julie marghilano unleashes another side of sol asylum with dragon drops. she unveils her known atmospheric soundscapes but with a heavily detailed rhythmic twist, made by experimenting with her field recordings to create a more stripped down sound that shows her range and versatility. last but certainly not least, miss jools calima brings the ep to a triumphant closure like a mystical fog. the elements of the track melt into drowning synths with crackling percussion and the elegantly designed grooves that levitate us steadily through the hypnotic melodies. the percussive strength of each track, while still being diverse links this collaboration of like-minded family members together as a cohesive potion.

pablo and shoey return just in time for festival season with 4 new bits for the front of your box. e-man groove is a massive disco-rock jam that could have been sprung from the minds of dem idjut boys, with sympathy for the devil style percussion and wild guitar riffing driving the whole thing. blazing sunshine, meanwhile, is a funky, hammond organ led version of let the sunshine in, a guaranteed hands in the air moment when dropped at the right time. disco treat is more of a modern floor-burner, closer to straight production edit with a bouncing bassline and all manner of whacked out disco sounds in the mix, not to mention breakdowns for days. rounding off the package is some classic funky soul breaks - the lads tear a chunk off bettye lavettes soul tambourine to make play it, break it on down! as sampled on stezos golden era hip hop rocker to the max.

lady blacktronika aka “the first lady of beatdown” brings three solid productions with all in vain ep, the next instalment on bass culture records. discovered on myspace by mike huckaby back in 2007, lady blacktronika’s sound brings a gritty edge from her street days, while simultaneously oozing a unique female sensitivity. making an impressive transition from the days when the dj boys wouldn’t let her play with their toys, she runs multiple labels, sound black recordings, sound kemystry and is co-creator of cocaine records, as well as releasing on deep explorer, skylax, underground quality and now bass culture. jumping straight in with learn me baby, the a side sets the tone with a deep and pounding, powerful groove. the title track takes it up a notch, the most incessant of the package, built for that peak-time dance floor fury. while the techno undertones remain, lord knows is a beautiful swirling house number that infuses the ears and body. the common denominator in all cases is the resonating voice of lady blacktronika herself, adding the human touch… a touch of soul.

second release from uber records is jesus luvs u baby. los porcos drop a tripped out dreamy piece of indie balearic soft rock. reverbed guitars and chugging bassline and a blissed out vocal. on the remix claremont 56 boss paul mudd murphy delivers a stripped back atmospheric dub groove whilst the second remix from is it balearic..? boys coyote step on the delay pedal and and hit the percussion. the lazy hammock dub is exactly that ... uno dos tres quatro.

demarzos sound is a meticulously crafted one. his toxic perfectionism and shrewd sense of rhythm lead him naturally to where he is today. his well-revised sets include anything from underground deep house to main room deep tech. after releases on hot creations, noir, glasgow underground or loulou records to name a few, arrives to sincopat with two secret weapons. holster is a cheeky but solid track which brings together groove and melody. analogue synths being added, it also presents changing voices all the way. for the remix, walker & royce take the deep way with a dry kick and sinister notes. pay attention to the astonishing breakdown. trigger is the second original track, in the same language than holster, and using some classic groovebox bullets. ramiro lopez, one of the sincopats golden boys, after his bedrock release, offers two fresh versions with different treatments.

good old aunt frieda likes it colorful, that’s pretty known in all parts of the world since the birth of frieda musik. and even our new children of the family are the same kind of colorful: frivolous is painting in all different colors without wasting any paint. his two originals are pushing with forward-thinking rhythms without forgetting how to get his audience into dreaming through his golden voice and his playful melodies. a very special schmankerl is his lullaby. a little more precise and determined comes dirty doering and sascha cawa’s upside down remix of “for the message” within this package. and not to forget there’s a digital bonus by our boys san marco & don ramon, who tell us: don’t stop mumble, if you wanna get this kind of (zurich)-groove. in our opinion: a perfect ep for endless summer nights.

ole utters *odsbodkins!* while martin styles his hair. the two decided to work on their next monaberry releases five years ago and the result is monaberry 23. 23? this can only be a good sign, dont you think? *odsbdodkins* confirms its name without wasting a second and going directly for your finest dancemoves. a groovey guitar firework is ignited which illuminates the dark temple of dance. no other but the boys from hanne & lore have taken on the hard task to deliver a remix of the title track. they do not disappoint with their rework which makes you lose it on the dancefloor. *frdy* and *indimushy* come as desert. these two tracks get into your head fast and refuse to leave it ... *frdy* is the perfect dancefloortool, which leaves not a single wish unsatisfied, while *indimishy* keeps the whole ep together, not allowing for any sound to drift away.

german dj duo andhim brought us the wizard of us last year, making their ebut on get physical music with the 2 track ep. while the title track was a small hit in its own right, it was the b-side, hausch that stole the stage with its sunny vibes and feel-good atmosphere. now the boys have given the track to fellow cologne artist duererstuben, denmarks koelsch and american legend george morel for a highly anticipated remix treatment.

she can reach sees the boys from cologne deliver a thumping tech-house number with an extraordinary male vocal and wonderfully groovy bassline. the remix comes from the label boss himself. marc reworks the original, creating a prime-time smash. the third track on the ep, special, is a strong percussive groover that rounds out the release to perfection

atomium focuses on collaborations between artists. this second release from the belgian label brings out a collaboration between two berlin-based producers releasing two astonishing house tracks. pm is composed by martin teysera (herencia, cynosure, 31377 records) and philippe liedekerke aka pipo vitch (atomium, hatchwork, toys for boys). >restless<, the a-side of the ep, brings some jacking flavors and twisted spacy stabs on the dance floor. the analog synths trace the line and you just need to start the dance : a classic club track for the end of 2013. >back home<, the b-side, is led by a monster bassline that keeps the groove locked while the guitars delightly bring your brain either back on earth or on another journey. this full analog ep is definitely something to watch out. bring it on and make some noises ! tip

first up to bat is ralph with his awesome club dub of dops oh yeah, a deep house bomb with killer b-line and lets groove vocal sample, followed by oscars equally brilliant dope dub mix of rupauls going back to my roots. the flip side sees the murk boys back together with a phat remix of deee-lites pussycat meow and finally the superb floor-filling habana dub of deborah harrys i can see clearly with its great funky scat vocals. essential collection for true deep house fans!

the mysterious duo strangers in heaven strike back on souvenir! after their first highly acclaimed release last year and their remix of souvenir bosses, tiefschwarz, the boys return with a strong two tracker. first track, set me free, is a deep groover which features jonny cruzs incredibly melodic voice. the same track gets a decidedly deeper once over from none other than, eric volta (ellum, visionquest). on the flip, the future is a miami bass vs. techno tune with some real old school house feeling injected into it, featuring the unmistakable voice of the wondrous navid izadi(wolf+lamb, soulclap).

poll021 is the third vinyl project on the label from the big brother production trio and is one not to miss. somewhat based on the underground sound of milan, leo mas and friends have crafted a strong tech house project aimed at the dance floor with vocal snippets and processed vocal fx which generate a solid and deep groove. with house music in mind and a funked up baseline the project evolves into a tech driven journey into the unique sound from this three producers. on the flip side the boys have twisted up a remix version taking a deep edge of the actual original. a pure and deep baseline flows with minimal and solid drum programming.

today we bring you the return of atelewo (osunlade & the pasta boys) with a classic follow up to the already well known label staple new day. this time we move a little further with a more percussive, brass driven soul song about what else but love. infinity proves to continue with solid production and sound of the teams collaborative efforts. sendai is a simple mood based groove honoring and acknowledging the loss in the tsunami of 2011. a simple gesture of remembrance this one adapts a local newscaster explaining the devastation and sorrow. as always we here at yoruba hope that this new release not only starts the new cycle of 2013 off well, but that it brings forth a new direction. enjoy!

nice price deal !!! aÑa / henning baer / norman nodge / musk.... no one knows exactly how, or why it happened. we can only postulate. perhaps it was rogue hydrogen atoms causing havoc again, or a particularly voracious wave of em radiation hell bent on finding a good time. the point is, (in those days) such lude behavior was simply unacceptable: aÑa had become excited, too much so for the solar stiffs that swirled about her. and that system of hers—always buzzing around, refusing to share anything—it had to go. so both were exiled from that collision patch they called home, leaving aÑa and her system to wander the cosmos. some years passed. aÑa grew a little, but mostly she practiced her basswalk—not this girly swooshy thing with your hips, but a real bolshy bovver boot stomp. after a while she got pretty good at it, she wanted to show her friends. maybe theyd like to basswalk too. well, they couldnt get enough of it—but no one did it quite like aÑa. henning baers had a bit more groove to it and this whole new tweaky hat element. norman nodge kept his pretty punchy, but all that time spent in berghain had turned his basswalk into a bit of a skulk. as for musk, the boys inverted the whole thing of course—turned a disco trick, shifting the march down into more of a slinky house glide. aÑa liked them all so much—and it was time isolated system stopped being such a separatist—she decided to gather them all together to make basswalker part i. now you can basswalk too
