mystery production unit dj bmx continue their thrilling, no-nonsense adventures in the underground with the conquest of gravity ep for mil. techno-fused roller -warrior within- gets matters underway as thumping bass and ticking hi hats form the fore of the track, marching along over off-kilter bleeps and succinct glitches. the rough n ready aesthetic of the track sets the tone excellently for the ep, leading coherently into -wonders of time- where slight changes and improvisations keep your attention, with dubbed out key jabs that are matched melodically against atmospheric synth pads whirling in and out over crisp percussion clicks. -spinning across the sky- maintains the inspiration for myriad sources, cosmic, dreamy chimes are sprinkled over a tentatively used piano sequence, distorted key kicks and muddied percussion. its the only moment on the ep to include a vocal, and its used beautifully as it floats around the tracks central structure, lending it a spacious and depth-charged feel. -radim world- finishes everything off with a touch of pepe bradock style elegance - the multi-layered arrangements are fluid and dynamic, resulting in well-executed deep house.

elektra release of charlotte gainsbourgs third studio album titled irm. the title is derived from m.r.i, which reflects the medical procedure charlotte had to go through after suffering a head injury in a water skiing accident in 2007. the album is charlottes most personal to date, and is produced by acclaimed grammy nominated artist/multi-instrumentalist beck. what started as a brief recording session between charlotte gainsbourg and beck ended up to be the body of work that is irm. over the course of a year and a half of writing and recording together, becks role grew to encompass all aspects of the creative process. he worked seamlessly with charlotte co writing the lyrics and produced and mixed the recording. after being returned from his abduction by aliens from the hidden planet nibiru, dj overdose was given an alien synthesizer the haex-hrll as a thank you for all the cerebral research the aliens did on him. on returning back to earth all dj overdose had to do was finish the 6 tracks the aliens had started to work on, which became this ep. straight forward techno hop electro funk without any fancy-pants pretentious hooha. its like a black and white movie which makes you think why the hell is there colors anyway?! after completion, the only record label he could imagine being fit for such rawness would be viewlexx... and so here it is.

known as pantaleon perez prado, was the younger brother of the famous king of mambo. pantaleon, who came to europe in the 1950s, recorded several albums with unifunk. a powerful big funk band sound featuring: tullio de piscopo, mario rusca, paolo tommelleri, pino prestipino and others. for this second lp, the obscure vocalist don alfio had gained enough prestige within the band to share the top of the bill with the bandleader. that is probably because, in october 1973, the love child 45rpm (which has nothing to do with the 1968 supremes hit) had enjoyed a good airplay on supersonic, a daily italian public radio show that presented a lot of freshly released records. the djs explicitly credited the record to don alfio with perez prado. the reviving of chicago banana from escandalo!, plus many new tracks including circle, imperfect and the jazzy chato, gave the record a precise latin-funk attitude. bossanova evergreen bahia (also known as na baixa do sapateiro) and a synthled version of ciliegi rosa (cherry pink and apple blossom white) are the only two concessions to latin standards.
