though well respected and accomplished producers in their own right, together brian orgue electronique schijf and danny legowelt wolfers really make the girls go wild. their chicago shags project is one that has released on creme organization, bunker and strange life records, forever mining increasingly exciting house depths since 2005. now they return with the family album on the ever-excellent mos recordings.

aroy dees mos deep does analogue deep and classic house like few other labels manage to represent today. this new black rain ep marks a return to the label for r-a-g aka aroy himself, g-string and marco spaventi. tip! opening with fog the deep vibe is set immediately. crispy snares, a chugging groove and plenty of eerie sonics swirl around into something with a keen sense of foreboding. the titular track then gets all chicago with its busy claps and nagging synth lines. the mood is a sombre one for those creepy back room sets and the analogue machinery used to make it gives a trademark warm and fuzzy feel to proceedings. the ep closes with a reprise of black rain. this beat-less rework deals in ambient synthscapes that drag you into their fold and never let you go. essential business once again from mos!

for the next outnl we prepared a package with 2 of our favorite artists of the moment. on the a side we have a track by glaswegian james johnston who has had an immense year with releases on labels such as fine art, under the shade and boogie originals. we are very pleased that james decided to release his deep burning that was now on outernational. on the b side we find ben la desh. who returns to outernerational with the breezy but ferm drug carrier. while his previous release doctor bills is still making its round through the clubs and podcasts. we are sure drug carrier will even turn more heads.

unreleased egyptian jazz: 2x45s set in a unique hand-printed fold-open pyramid! four sides of previously-unreleased ethnic mythic mystic jazz from the legendary egyptian drummer! before the re-release of his album with the cairo jazz band recently, the name salah ragab was best known to jazz fans and record collectors by way of another lp that was recorded with sun ra in the early 70s. his album >prism music unit< with the cairo jazz band was released in egypt with another by the cairo free jazz ensemble, but perhaps only salah himself knew of the other songs he had recorded at the time, but didnt make it onto these lps. the tapes lurking for decades in an old trunk, its taken until now for them to see the light of day, and we present them here as four amazing pieces of egyptian jazz on 2 seven inch singles. entombed within a hand-printed, hand-made pyramid shaped box, this is the first time in 40 years that these recordings will have come to light. ladies and gentlemen, behold the splendor that is salah ragab and the cairo jazz band!
