as costello continues to look long, the grooves continue to flow. lng3 sees the reissue of the deep house classic pleite which originally appeared on trapez in 2003. recorded in dublin in 2002, this version has been mastered at dubplates and mastering, berlin in 2009. the results are stunning and serve as a welcome reminder of costelloÆs deep roots. pleite (costello dub) in particular could teach some of todayÆs hyperactive producers a thing or two about setting up a solid groove and letting it sit. the timing of this reissue could not be more perfect with regard to the current musical zeitgeist. the title, a german colloquialism for broke or indeed bankrupt which was an in-joke at the time of the original release, takes on a new significance in the context of global economic recession.

for the joy of those who know (and even more so for those who dont...), here come some classics with the capital c. treated, reworked and re edited by the unusual suspects, these gems shine for quality originality, and most of all, variety. from the late 60s (b2) to the 21st century (b3 came out only a few years ago), this 12inch encompasses some immortal tracks that bring joy to whomever the listener. different folks, different strokes, yet a1 had to be one of the most air played tune of the 80s, given the popularity it still enjoys. a2 is one of the finest moments in a legendary funkateers career: top class arrangements and groove. b1 sounds like the perfect summer outdoor party tune...boogie oogie oogie! no... not that one thats been rinsed for decades, this ones less predictable. b2 shows theres room for bop modal deepness in this killer 12inch, going back as far as the late 60s... on blue note of course. closing the series b3, a real surprise duet of the new millennium from an album that even topped the charts in 2004... smashing! dj or not, this 12inch is real hot! bring out those summer bbq grills, for we got the soundtrack.

some would say the chicken lips label is long overdue, but lipservice is worth the wait as it promises the very best from augmented cl clan of dean meredith, andy meecham, stevie kotey and johnny spencer - a collective who have remixed just about everyone, spawned a thousand copycats and destroyed a few floors in the process. the inaugural lipservice release sees the chaps unleash zeefungk, one of their most popular and rare guises. the a-side is occupied by >robot eyes< - a splendid slice of electro-disco-funk which is vintage chicken lips. acid bass and loose drums combine with keys which progress wonderfully to create a really special piece of dancefloor tomfoolery. next up is >feast of freeks< (stevie koteys tape edit), a new edit of a track featured on the bands now-classic >extended play< album but never released as a 12inch. the bearfunk main man and all round gent delivers a tweaky, driving uptempo disco monster which climaxes in some trademark kotey madness. >robot lips< closes the packages and displays more of the guys unreal keyboard work as the groove stays steady but the hands go hyper. riddled with vintage synth work, >robot lips< is heads down business and no mistake.

here we go with a potential hit song in a pure purple music style delivered from two quality producers & well mixed with the maiya high energy vocals! the message is clear: change is on the way!! highly recommended!!!

this new drumcode release on adam beyers world beating label comes from another rising techno star - this time from italy - joseph capriati. the 2 tracks are both killer in their own right with the a side - sidechains building gracefully with its intense drums and cool reverberated breaks. on the flip side - kontrol room hits hard with its menacing groove again building and dropping in and out of highly effective breaks. a storming 2 tracker not to be missed

juan sanchez, the amsterdam based producer with spanish background, makes his wolfskuil debut with an impressive 2 track single. the freakshow ep is an examplary showcase of what juan is capable of. two peaktime tracks, but both with different angles. the title track delivers exactly what you expect from a song with that particular title. freaky, out of control basslines and over the top rhythmic exersises, with loads of subtle hints, clever programming and detailed edits form the freaked out basis for juans vocals. no 4 bars are the same, but the track is coherent from beginning untill the end. prepare to rip up floors with this one!23 positions shows a different side of juan. its carrying his trademark production style, but 23 positions takes a more melodic approach. beautifully arranged strings sweep in and out througout the track, accompanied by a non stop rolling groove. again there is a remarkable eye for detail, clever programming and spot on sound engineering, wich makes this tune explode from any pa.

mistakes music has been going from strength to strength over the last few years with sebastian leger establishing the brand as a market leader. here this new 3 tracker again moves the label forward with the a side - seaweed being a superb funky basslined killer that twists and turns all the way through whilst the synths gather in intensity. on the flip side - sunset - has a lighter feel with detroit influenced pads and synths and hooky melodies. to finish off we have snapshot with its twisted, funky minimal groove. top draw
