exemplifying this with the 3 cuts on “the fox and the raven”: driven, hypnotic, techno with a chasing sense of urgency, balanced with eeire lamenting melodies, perfectly fitting the tales of lore chosen to illustrate each release like a volume in an odyssey.
concluding this chapter, a limited pressing of 300 reproductions serigraphed, embossed and scented, echoing how like fables, music, occupies a tangible moment in the listeners life and space.

milan based collective just this return with two va releases to continue their broken promises series. with the aim of documenting the progression of cultural movements, the label have pursued underground material since 2010. broken promises part 3 and part 4 are due for release on 1st december and 8th december respectively, and each feature four new tracks channelling refined techno with minimalist, ambient sentiments. hunter/game open part 3 with distance, a meditative journey through ambient textures using expansive synths and vast acoustics. next, architectural brandishes 808 drums for a tense workout on electric soul. on the b-side, label co-owner pisetzky explores the darker side of minimal on anterial, whilst altman plays with moody bass and ricocheting percussion on shapes. part 4 opens with a shuffling rhythmic framework on inlands aechmea, followed by zona, a pointillist groove by ben gibson, aka one half of the collaborative project dyad. on my flowers kundal, a cyclical melody wanders through eerie acoustics whilst hiver navigates a broken beat framework with glitchy distortions and dub echoes on stellar parallax landing

the pieces were created as structured improvisations using a monophonic synth (primarily) along with a yamaha dx7 (borrowed from a friend) and possibly a guitar. recording was made on an older otari mx5050 1/2 8 track. mixing was done on a tascam m-50 console and a revox a77 1/4 machine. i recall the project happened in two bursts: i did half of it in september 85, then i finished up and edited the album together in december 85. i dont really recall making copies for anyone. i think i played it for a dozen people and that was it. just forgot about it. i remember jeff ament from pearl jam (green river back then) came by while i had it playing on my home stereo. he asked what it was and said he liked it. surprised me a little. with regard to overall aesthetic: i like the sound of machinery, but i enjoy the fragility of human error and human instinct. i like to put things into motion then climb aboard and drive. i can’t play an instrument (in the classical sense) for the life of me, so i’ve always just played things that are mostly choice rather than a convolution of style and technique. i guess you call that the brian eno school of rock.

b2/michel robidoux les planètes this track by composer michel robidoux featured on a kidisk with a book called -visitons les planètes avec goldorak- and was released in canada in 1980. this incredible space jam was chosen as a macaroon for this new ep – our tribute to an amazing composer who wrote more than 325 songs and even collaborated with leonard cohen.

a four track vinyl sampler of the new compilation series from crosstown rebels, allow us to introduce spirits. label founder damian lazarus has compiled what he describes as “a fresh psychedelic journey into the mind”, aiming to bring together a collection of new artists from both his imprints. opening up is audiojack’s ‘reverie’, a heavy kick from the start is succeeded by spoken word on the subject of meditation sets the scene appropriately. dubspeeka’s ‘lyssa’ is next up with a sturdy bassline, eerie synths and a haunting melody reminiscent of yesteryear. on the flip and alice rose seduces in ‘another way’ produced by raw district. her voice, similar to that of bjork, perfectly encompasses the heavy bassline and hard-hitting percussion.finally ‘be mine’ by siopis featuring ellbee bad gets straight into the action with hard-hitting reverberated low notes, steadily building up through sentimental vocals and enticing synthesis
