the first spinning plates ep back in february was picked up by print media and radio tastemakers from ra and dj mag to b.traits and moxie, whilst djs as diverse as ivan smagghe and francois k slotted it into their dj bags. as such there has been much demand for a second release, and now it arrives in the form of a fascinating split ep from scene veteran andy rantzen and relative newcomer bruno schmidt, who helps a&r for the label. in fact it was bruno who came across andy’s tracks during a late night youtube session. andy, who remixed inxs and severed heads back in the day and is a sydney based producer who has been active for three decades, had upped a load of his old demos to youtube in the faint hope that one day someone might find them. and damn are we happy he did, because they are brilliant affairs that sound like little else. for his part, bruno has been a louche resident and hifi creator alongside andrew james gustav and gwenan and delivers an exceptional stripped down late night trip/early morning trip.

it is by now no secret that the sounds of the kick drums echoing off the hills of the tennessee valley have been singlehandedly redefining what we know to be truly proper for the better part of a decade now. however, the faces of those that make up this new world order have remained largely in the shadows. as such we are beyond excited to bring tennessee’s two most elite producers, memphis’s will azada and knoxville’s alex falk, back to cgi.

concept is the new baby established by the already international well known artist agency my favourite freaks, which consists of a four part and monthly released series starting in december 2015. all tracks will be out on vinyl and only for real and freaky club boyz and party girlz. international celebrated artists of the agency collaborated to create such a big collector s item.

part two of fhloston paradigm (aka king britt) beautiful cosmosis ep series starts with the haunting broken techno of nimoy, bass line and subtle piano gently modulating over scissoring drum machines and dubbed out claps, the switches in rhythm and the layers of chugging drums catching you off beat. the track builds into a heart-tugging melody, the drums breaking up under it s force. return is a pure analogue brain massage of a track, a deep space exploration of undulating arpeggios and shimmering emotive notes. the hour finishes the record, slow building waves of melody and chords, shimmer and swell, the repetition and addition of a mournful bass line consolidate the emotional energy of the track.

fifth -hors-serie- release for serie limitee s sub-label. 99letters has been part of the japanese electronic underground scene for a while, he started producing chiptunes using a nintendo gameboy and it naturally took him to raw deep-house and techno after purchasing a couple of machines. the a side is pure deepnees with two original tracks from osaka s maestro, while the b side is reserved to some downtempo and techno remixes by serie limitee s founders steve frisco & monsieur cedric. 10-, vinyl-only, limited to 300 hand-numbered copies.

in 1972 francois de roubaix and bernard maitre composed together the music of a tv series for children presented by puppets, called the onix. the musical oddity here released by weme records is a part of this ost. this piece of music demonstrates once again that francois de roubaix was in touch with all kinds of music of his time, including contemporary music. in this experimental track we can feel the influences of the composer pierre henry, an other explorer of unknown sounds. on the b side jodey kendrick makes his own interpretation of this music with current tech and sounds while keeping the atmosphere and fantasy of the original sound. attention non music !

“informations of death” was the astonishing debut single by neon, legendary italian new wave band, formed in florence in 1979 and led by marcello michelotti (the only permanent member). were part of the florence dark wave/electronic scene of the 1980s, together with pankow, diaframma, early litfiba.

local talk release number 66 moves in deeper territories with a duo that needs no further introduction, greg dowling, shane johnson aka fish go deep. these two fine gents have been releasing music for more than two decades. both greg & shane played an integral part in the emergence of house music in cork city between the years of 1988 and 2001 as their well renowned sweat night at sir henrys helped to attract a host of talent, such as kerri chandler, laurent garnier, dj deep, glenn underground, derrick may just to name a few. it s a big, big honour to have them on aboard for this debut on local talk. first track, off script, takes us straight back to the days of prescription. the driving kick and bassline, warm pads and a hypnotic melody line that crescendos throughout the track keeping you hooked from start to finish. on the flip, northern reach, follows on the same theme. it hits deep, the strings adds that extra bit of drama and again showing the duo s skill in creating perfect atmospheric and timeless deep house. you wouldn t be surprised to hear dixon drop this in a dj set.

limited collectors edition of 300 copies only of this rare italian disco funk studio project from 1977 run by pino presti. today is very rare but the value of this reissue is that contains for the first time ever all the original versions plus the long version that never saw the light, because for some reason both 12 and the 7 inch original vinyl contains only the short cuts (called part 1 / part 2).

the double drop label present the second of three parts from the invisible cities collective, made up of luca c & brigante plus guests. following the summers moments in between (featuring ivan smagghe remixes), in my garden finds the guys carving a sumptuous slo-mo house groove, with a rather special secret collaborator on vocal duties. the result is something lush and unique. the original is backed with a fine interpretation from the mole, and the super cool edge of our love completes the package. the new music from invisible cities doesnt stop there. next up is part 3, sunkissed with remixes from apiento and special dubs from mad professor.

this time tiefenrausch welcomes a new artist in their dub techno family. förster joins the label with his aqua viridis ep and presents a debut with three tracks. as part of his „grün“ series, every track stands for a different vibe of the genre. the a-side comes with a pumping, reduced smasher, that definetely aims on the dancefloor. side b brings more immersed deepnes. „grün xv“ and „grün xviii“ evoke an abyss and enwind the listener with dublime deepness. all covered up by the artwork of alex ketzer and the imagery from jules vernes „20.000 leagues under the sea“.

the bush is a homage to the place where i have lived for the last decade (askew road). the askew road itself is slowly changing so i wanted to document all the places that play a big part in mine and my families lives before they eventually get sold for more flats or tescos. 002 was all about the mighty sun pub which has now been sold and transformed into a costa coffee and an estate agents. next up is our local park which hopefully will never see change as its been our little slice of heaven in w12 since we moved here.

heralding from brighton, married (production) couple sam and tracy presented classic with some music classic was very familiar with. not only is sam a member of the legendary gramme, but has also featured on a number of past luke solomon originals for classic…so are already part of the extended family. classic immediately warmed to the music and the music already felt at home. looking for the right remixer begun - classic played the tracks to long-time member of crazy p - a certain mr basejam and immediately leapt to them and remixed not one – but both of the records on the ep as he loved them both so much. the result is a meeting of minds sounds and words.

the white noise backdrop of modern life means that without some fine-tuning on our part, even established and progressive artists can become elusive on occasion. but since musical creativity involves a healthy drive to self-determination, and often a keen collaborative spirit, out of earshot doesn’t necessarily mean out of action.
certainly not in the case of junior boys, who’ve readied a new album, big black coat, via city slang. a strikingly energised and intuitively dynamic set that reconnects them to their techno roots without sacrificing their soulful pop nous or riding a revivalist wave, it’s also shaped by what jeremy greenspan and matt didemus have been doing in the five years since their last release.

whilst its neighbour has always taken the plaudits on the party front the steely city of sheffield has its own house history, with much of it residing in the warm buzzing darkness of the studio. its here that we find our latest robsoul rookie. a fresh name for the label, but a producer who is far from new to the game. tommy vicari jnr’s first release was pressed to the black gold and released back in 2004. since then there have been sporadic outings, but the last two years have seen a reinvigorated tommy roll out over ten new releases and play a huge part in putting sheffield s house music firmly back on the map. threshold of eternity sees tommy drop the northern grit to replace it with shimmering warmth and sunshine vibes across all four tracks. fidgeting rhythms, chopped samples and groove-heavy beats and bass are spliced together to create an essential feel-good release.

this is the second record of the modern house quintet, a french band who makes house music. like the former release, this new one features two house/deep house tracks: * marmande* starts with a lush pad and staccato bassline soon joined by percussions and an organ chord. the second part of the track introduces gradually a flute line plus a powerful open hi-hat. * bellevue* opens with a pad and a filtered rhodes synth supported by a low-fi bassline. that structure evolves step by step until the break introduces strong open hit-hats followed by another flute line.

the second release from spazio records is a transatlantic affair. made by the dynamic duo zopelar from sao paulo in brazil and sumorai from the southern part of sweden. the tracks are the fruits from jams made behind hotel walls in tokyo. deep, raw and sticky-icky.

its always been tricky predicting what firecracker recordings will release next, though few would have expected an ep of freestyle, darkside drum machine jazz and percussive drone from berceuse heroique, nous and bedouin regular healing force project. sounding like early 23 skidoo replayed on drum machines and samplers, theres much to admire about the hectic rhythms, foreboding textures and dusty samples at the heart of gravitational lensing. its unclassifiable and completely out there, paranoid, dense and intense, with the fizzing drums, mangled horns and metallic percussion hits of random walks just edging out the experimental jungle-jazz madness of apophenia in the top tracks stakes.

from field recording to analog machines, sound design and acoustic instruments. - reflecting on the sounds of our lives and their perception by our mind, - four - ghosts - were born. - the spontaneous realisation of an emotional connexion with a sound (the birth) and the feeling it can create in our mind, body and soul. (the story) first, the ghost is born, acknowledged and captured: rain falling, airplane passing by, metal grinding, underwater impacts, birds in empty spaces or other sources of raw sounds combined to form a spectrum of emotions, a personality. then, the ghost is understood, carefully tamed, manipulated and controlled to become part of the host s identity by the pure continuity of the cerebral activity through the nervous system and the being itself. eventually the consciousness / awareness of the moment is integrated and the ghost becomes the experience.
