after the success leonid neverminds light is here ep, we invited a few artists to reinterpret and reshape leonids work. first up is dutch duo duijn & douglas, who already released on nowar, who took on thymus stimulator and turned it into a deep and funky time bomb. very basic and strongly efficient grooves layered with riffs and counter-riffs, making you hooked instantly. a wonderful hip-shaker! on the flipside detroits kris wadsworth, with solid releases on nrk and boe recordings, applied a more machine funk approach turning feel into a deep jack workout with leonids original dreamy sounds enveloping kriss rawness. finally miles sagnia, whose releases on his own atmospheric existence and aesthetic audio prove to be timeless gems, also combined the raw and the soulful. a true deep house gem with funky basslines, straightforward beats and a sweet deep almost detroit techy vibe.

jax is a collective of like-minded artists, musicians, thinkers movers and booty-shakers, who believe there is more to records than just some grooves engraved into black plastic. their vision is to treat each release as a presentation in itself, complete with original and individual artwork, features and an exhibition. each production will feature artwork shown in a cube of about 8 cubic meters. every record-released will be strictly-limited to 500 copies, which includes a poster referencing the piece made by the artist! daniel roth was born in seeheim near frankfurt. he started to experiment with different styles of electronical music using an akai mpc and a juno 106 in 1997. by this time he wasnt thinking of making music his profession. he then started his studies in skulpturing at the städel in frankfurt. after having finished art school he took up producing music again, influenced by his art and contemporary dance music styles. with his jax release he showcases his ability to combine different elements with his unique touch.

out of an 8.8 earthquake, riots and severe illness comes one of the most joyful records of the year. brian gibbs aka echo park has had a colourful life to say the least, living and making music in l.a., tokyo, madrid, mexico city and now santiago, chile where he lives with his young family. previously a producer of dark hip hop and dub, a series of disasters made him confront mortality and decide it was time to make the music that is closest to his heart: luscious, sunshine-infused electro-funk full of laid back attitude and real songs. skream has always been a lover of disco, boogie and electro – as anyone who has heard one of his specialist sets or his slick n sleazy remix of chromeo will know. it took just one hearing of brians first echo park tracks via a mutual friend to snap them up for disfigured dubz. in fact he has chosen echo park for the first full album on the label… but first comes this killer single, a shmoooove bit of vocoder funk that sets the tone for echo parks twin obsessions with technology and romance. bundled with it are a gutbusting ravemonster of a rework by 12th planet & flinch that somehow still keeps the soul of the track intact, and jon convex taking it way underground with a deeper-than-deep analogue techno version. there is something for everyone here and this is just the beginning.

the musician airat naryshkin (the very airat) is quite an unusual figure on moscow electronic scene. popular club-culture & music magazine ptiuch called airat >one of the godfathers of the russian electronic music<. he took part in the international album volume transmission (ambient), label worm interface (england),1999. airat with alex paterson (the orb) made an electronic performance in moscow (ketama cafe) last autumn.

mr raoul k and baobab secret take the next step and put out new remixes of >le karantkatrieme peul<. prisme are a belgian duo (nicolas pepinster and yves theys) who started to produce their own material in 2010. they liked the title track so much that they remixed it and sent the result to mr raoul k who instantly fell in love with the melodic and laid back approach they took on it. this lush piece makes a perfect entry into a long night out, promising that every piece will fall into place. the other production crew featured on this release are the iklawa brothers (mzwandile nxasana and sandile magwaza) who run their own label in durban, south africa. they are big fans of mr raoul ks work and have been dropping his tunes in their sets on a regular basis. their remix is a dark, afrobeat driven tune that takes the listener on a long trip into a gloomy world full of surprising musical twists, dramatic changes of mood and impressing string sounds. the last remix is done by mr raoul k himself. he shows a new side of his musical skills. resulting in an epic track that seems to dance on tiptoes around a giant beast. one small step. hesitate. check carefully what happens. do not disturb. just watch in astonishment how it slowly awakes and stretches out to its full glory. a track that is full of hope, but reminds us to keep our feet to the ground to provide a solid stand.

further to motor city drum ensembles dj kicks compilation, his exclusive single l.o.v.e. has been reworked by the young detroit prodigy kyle hall, the painter and music creator wolfgang voigt and an excellent remix by smallpeople. kyle has been highly influenced and captivated by the underground deep house sound of detroit. inspired by artists such as theo parrish, mike huckaby, rick wade, 3 chairs, kdj and omar s, who believe their music has a certain feeling of the advant garde and liberation from the so-called rules people place upon dance music. kyle took that principle of their music and applied it to music that he was trying to create. wolfgang voigt is known for his numerous, nearly inexhaustible list of one-off projects and aliases. of these, his best known is arguably >gas< a project that saw the marriage of ambient music and 4/4 techno. his remix of motor citys l.o.v.e shows his minimalistic approach to music he has been famed for worldwide. smallpeople are julius steinhoff & just von ahlefeld aka dionne. smallpeople are focused on a wider range of music and can be diverse- between deep house, detroit techno and some chicago flavours but always within the balance of atmospheric warmth and club suitability bringing yet another perfect addition to this remix package. watch out for more big tunes from smallpeople in the near future

in 2010, when we started to revitalise the tresor label, we reached out to some of the greatest artists, not just in tresors history, but in techno. late 2010 we sat down in a paris cafe, just off the pompidou centre, with jeff mills, on a rainy, otherwise unremarkable and miserable day. but on this day we were given two very strong pieces of advice. >hire a fanastic a&r and sign sleeparchive<. so here we are, an artist that has been on the underground radar of the hacker, miss kittin and richie hawtin makes his debut on tresor records with >ronan point<. >the tracks developed from parts and loops i had created for my live set and always wanted to make tracks from. after a little break i took with the sleeparchive project the record for tresor was a great opportunity to make these tracks.< sleeparchives live sets have graced the dance floors and sound systems of berghain, arena club and bloc weekend, so it is fair to say that the 4 tracks that make up ?ronan point are not just tried and tested, but actually born on the dance floor. >> press: dj magazine techno single of the month.

yam who?s ism label come through with a four track slice of disco centric futurism, featuring the man yam himself alongside pbr streetgang and ron basejam. its the latter who takes the lead with a remix of alenas >changes< that sees her sultry vocal teased by a most excellent of analogue synth leads that splurges brilliantly across the crisp mid tempo chug. yam who? teams up with vocalist natasha watts for the similarly bottom heavy bump of >i m in love< which has a certain warehouse appeal to it. on the flip, pbr pay respect to the godfather of soul james brown with the gritty flex of >j2thab< with the sadly departed mr brown strangely sounding at times like he wants to go to tesco. we always took him for a waitrose man, but regardless this is probably the track you will reach for most! finally brothers young do their thing to a trammps classic, with little more than the bassline retained.

clandestine techno/house imprint, meanwhile records reveals a one-off opus from two highly respected techno producers, niels luinenberg (delta funktionen) and samuel van dijk (mohlao). the deeply mystical >inward content< session represents the leuwarden sound of their native north holland (also former home to another master of hypnotic repetition ((of the graphic type)), m.c. escher) with an elegant, classically informed and deeply refined brand of 4/4 also identified on celebrated 12inches for ann aimee and delsin. the albums six tracks use an economical production palette, but we wouldnt call them minimal. the emphasis is on subtly monotone melodic shades, from the rippling black masses of bass which power each track, to the bluest hued pads and unfathomably expansive atmospheres which lend them their spectral grace. listening to this album is almost a mystical experience, like hearing the results of a seance conducted in low-lit surroundings calling upon the spirits of basic channel, convextion and the black dog circa 1995. >inward content< took over two years to assemble and techno connoisseurs can clearly discern why. recommended!

lost has come a long way since he took the first steps on his journey into music. as a 12-year old, lost found big apple records in croydon and embarked upon becoming a dj. now a fully-fledged member of h.e.n.c.h, this prodigy has been responsible for some of the most sub shaking releases to have been let forth from the bristol labels catalogue to date.

another pure remix 12 inch on falkplatz. mild pitchs dplay and irishman mano le tough took over the studio this time to create their interpretations of >i wont stop<, the track by subbroomassociation that was originally released on the >collabs volume one ep< on falkplatz_daten002. dplay concentrates on the vocals and distinctive hat patterns, building a warm, pushing and dark floorfiller around the original theme. mano le tough delivers a stand-out remix, in a slightly different mode to his past productions on dirt crew or mirau. here he pushes into the deeper layers of emotive housemusic. listen loud and have fun with this!

new cat on the astro lab camp, timothy j fairplay from the battant band, after good releases on kill the dj, andrew weatheralls rotters golf club, live at robert johnson tim gave us couple of great tracks with his best carpenter mood, it was so hard to choose, we took 3 of them and asked our favourite producer mr andrew weatherall to remix one, he turn the sleigh ride/blizzard into this slow techno atmosphere. on the b side astro lab zntn remixed >general arrived< and turned the original into an amazing dancefloor tune, something close to the optimos works.

it took a while, but after the relaunch in 2010 with 3 releases in total (ebe company, stormtrooper, jane ephex & stormtrooper), the next release on important ebe company is a fact.
moleculez & the relic, known for numerous releases on labels like symp.tom, meta4, third movement and many more, combined forces to please us with a 5-track vinyl ep.
the ep starts off with the track >cold corners<, a kickin piece of dark core with a melodic break, followed by >day of sacrifice<, which is representing the acid side of hardcore. the a-side will be completed by a hard and dark remix of >cold corners< by labelowner ebe company.
on the b-side you will find an >ionic storm<, with a great remix bystormtrooper and the original, of course.

produced in 2004, this ep marks an essential shift in the production of stefan goldmann to his modus operandi as a dedicated innovator. he had adapted the barricade guise to induce some serious deviations into the techno realm. yet, heads werent ready and he simply continued under his real name with his major breakthrough works: perlons blood ep and the legendary sleepy hollow tune. hidden from the public, aleko and frantic had built a prototypic aesthetic of rough, concrete-space sounds - reduced dark, metallic percussion grooves, spring reverbs and degraded post-acidic synths. you name it where you heard this sound years later. its revealing how far ahead these tunes were at the time of their creation. they sound more now than many current tracks. aleko is the 4/4 techno version of this soundset, locked-in clonk patterns built around a nitrous bassline. frantic could be a future development to todays dubstep, if it wasnt its actual historic predecessor. add the schizophrenic bass excursion heliotrope and you have a package of painstaking relevance. back then the a&rs simply didnt get it - thats why it took 6 years and the formation of victoriaville to finally bring these gems to light

it is about time for a record from label founder dario zenker. dont ask why it took so long, but be sure it wasnt the last one. and what a record this is, after several great releases on labels like vakant, harry klein records or time to express, dario’s debut on his own imprint is another example for his unique and mature sound. his studio just as his music has grown over the years. 10 am sounds like an earthquake, raw and dirty, it builds up so much energy that even babensham starts to shake. farrel on the other side is best described as deep break beat techno. it shows the diversity of darios productions and diversity combined with a certain signature is a great mix in our opinion. so enjoy it or not, dance or put your hands in your pockets, share some love or be a hater, no matter what we like u.

its been a while for mr lovebirds and also the label teardrop to serve some fresh slices of homemade house jam. well, we think it better not to put out every bonus beat we program and rather wait until we have something that really deserves to be thrown in todays pool of musical randomness. do we sound bitter again? sorry, for that … must be the age. so … love & happiness. yeah, i want that and probably everybody does … well here ya go: its a slick slow house bomb with proper oldskool 909 drums and some sliding portamento chords that wont never leave your head!! at least until the breakdown when this track takes you even further back in time to that beautiful intro that has rarely been used more beautifully. its been tested for months now by vincenzo, phonique and mr bird himself and devestated every floor so far. let me put it this way - this is biiiig!!!! flipside is the rain - classic 90ies deephouse with a touch of kerri which we all love right? this has the typical lovebirds warmth that we all need in these modern techno times. and in this autumn too. none other than mr steve bug took care of the remix and delivered a superb very 90ies new yorican style version. keeping the warmth he added some percussion to it and turned this into a nice builder. enough talk … we are very excited about this release and looking forward to your full love on this one. play it loud and everywhere!! and maybe even chart it if youre a good lad!!

with the release of >free k. loudwiggle< the accumulation of impressions from over the last 2 years has ended. the musical production took about 21 months working in berlin and the circle. during the productionperiod my technical tools and instruments enormously developed making it a very inspiring time to create and arrange rythmics and harmonies.
at a dark night in autumn 2009 i decided to move back from berlin to the circle. back around christmas 2009 the quiet wintermonths took over and re-created the studio in the circle where i was able to sitdown and mixdown the tracks i created over the last 21 months in berlin.
for the first time i decided to give this particular album the unique touch by handmaking all the artwork. every single record has been handstamped both sides, the covers manually printed and put together. all 200 pieces are different and have their own singular identity. now, at the end of june 2010 i can present this big collection of expressions. quagmire ltd is a small platform to release this debutalbum. limited to 200 pieces of triplepack 12 inch including 13 mixes.

sabb has definately become an important player on the electronic music scene over the last couple of years and his talent has now shown he will be around for many years to come.
on this fine piece of music he hooked up with good friend dark beat to create a beautyful piece of music with a quite melancholic undertone to it. this track has dc10 ibiza moments written all over it and will without a doubt get many plays this summer.
mendo delivers yet another high quality mix with his unique sound and clever remix skills. on >ballkanika< he took us by surprise by making a quite uplifting hook from the dark clarinet instrument. once again he showcases his talent for hearing what others dont and making this track an even more summer-ish tune with a hands in the air feel to it.
