the third installment on the second circle imprint comes from the illustrious serbian artist 33.10.3402 aka nenad markovic. this talented and versatile musician has previously released records on famed underground labels esp institute, kunstkopf and internajonal. for second circle he comes up with four deeply layered and hypnotizing electronic tracks. perfect off the beaten track sounds for adventureous dancefloors and late night excursions.

on the first release for mannella on his own imprint, the ice is broken by generous strings and subdued synths. revisiting “space candyman” with his distinctive stamp, marieu blows up every emotion in a swirl of high spirited techno. the b side displays all the intensity of this release, starting by the pure beat of the original mix. lucretio s remix is a mighty vision of “letters from mars” with a dogged bustle of reverberated drums and filtered chords. consider a tree for a moment: we just see and enjoy its beauty, but it must develop its roots under the ground to bloom all its beauty and grows up strong. in much the same way, jt series sinks his particular sound in a ground covered music grove. so, the fruits of our tree, are a collection of sounds thought out of the box. mannella, that runs this berlin based label, never stop explores the vast world ingrained in his machines. a sensorial techno contaminated by the most varied influences.

contium is a berlin based techno duo formed by bruno giordana and jonas schenkyr. the record opens with *the p-wave*, a heavy bottom-end, dance floor-oriented track, with echoed sounds and reduced grooves creating real club vibes. feel the great spatial depth given by the air between the beats. the track on the b side is called *aeromagnetic dub*, and this one goes even deeper. the percussion and chords deliver an incredible rhythm that gradually hypnotizes the listener. it features local field recordings and filtered, brushed, acoustic drum-loops.

time for some double dutch action with apollonia’s latest release, which comes courtesy of makcim & levi. the twosome have already been picking up steam in their native holland, playing at many of the country’s best-known clubs over the last few years, establishing themselves as selectors in a class of their own. and their prowess as djs is equal to their talents as producers, with their very first ep appearing on raum musik and finding its way into apollonia’s sets. now they’ve got together once again to produce their second ep just for the apollonia guys…the ‘more lettuce’ ep fits perfectly into the french label’s sound ethic, emitting a dark groovy energy throughout. for starters we have ‘more lettuce’, a gritty tech-driven monster on a mission. with its gravely percussion and air-raid siren-esque effects this is a surefire dance floor killer… listen out for the switch of pace, class. this is followed by ‘tegel’, presumably named after the airport in berlin. with this we get a kind of dingy berlin vibe, morose, grey yet ingrained with a bouncing energy that you just can’t help but bop your head to. on the flip side ‘thaiman’ injects a slightly odd feel to the ep with warped, muted sounds meandering around a subtle bassline. finally, makcim & levi close up the ep with ‘dope erwt’ another roller that will enchant the dance floor from the start, building into a bright, airy breakdown before continuing in its somber yet groovy manner.

active for over 25 years, max durante is a legendary figure in the italian techno scene. an early 90s innovator in combining the sounds of techno, acid and industrial with his old school project on the legendary italian label acv/hot trax. his project automatic sound unlimited with darchangelo of rephlex records fame was ahead of the game back then. so like glove fits hand. max fits perfectly on sonic groove with a cutting edge , menacing time bomb of an ep. sharp as a razor, hard as steel this is seriously powerful stuff for those that like there techno uncompromised.

s1 warsaw is back! after last years sampler including crooked disco debut from matat professionals it is time to get back to artists series with warsaw-based producers full lenght ep. dial b for fun time is a perfect soundtrack to memories of 90s teenager spending all day hanging around skate spots, driving car and listening to some noisy mixtapes, watching skateboarding movies and cheesy comedy flicks on vhs tapes or bombing downtown at night. sounds and styles blended in these four tracks vary from early dj shadows sublime beats, soundstreams disco-house pumpin, bjørn torskes nordic moods to mobb deeps lo-fi hardcore hip-hop instrumentals. all served with cheeky sense of humor and dose of irony.

acid, no wave and experimental house producer drvg cvltvre has been busy recently. after releasing with chris moss acid on shipwrec in 2014, vincent koreman then served up a full ep of his own, on dutch label cos_mos and is now back once again with a new four track affair on pinkman that comes two years after he offered up the label’s first ep in 2013. up first, * my houz* is a swampy house track with heavy drums, whirring machines and white noise textures all adding up to an intense affair that sounds like little else. then comes * tyranny of the gods* , a slow tempo but high impact track that builds and builds on a nerve lead synth line as frazzled bass props things up from below. dark and weird, occult and rave, its another unique proposition. on the flip, * sleepdealer* is an unbalanced house track with taught, tight bass and is shot through with laser like synths. serene and spaced out, it makes way for closer * crack spirit guide* which is a noisy, intense and brooding fusion of crisp percussion, big walls of synth and chattering drums that really have you on edge. once agin, then, drvg cvltvre has come up with the idiosyncratic goods.

mystery man l.f.t. delivers the second ep for woodwork. his poignant debut wood002 includes three original tracks and a remix by benedikt frey. a1 is a dreamy rhodes journey roughened up by distorted 808 sounds. a2 is a melodic house track with a bubbly bassline juxtaposed against crunchy drums. on the flipside, b1 will take you into a laid-back acid house trip fueled by tons of escorial. benedikt frey then twists the track into a trippy techno journey on b2.

for the a-side, fuse london resident antony difrancesco joins forces with dutch born ferro and opens up with the aggressive and hypnotic -des-, with its tough drums and mesmerising pads. next up is tini and the gang- regular, crocodile soup, who brings his deeper side into action on these shoes are made for walking , a track that is elastic and seductive and expertly arranged. david gtronic s signature drums and trippy pads then mark a stunning opening to the b-side on down the burrow and last but not least, he did closes the vinyl with -algunas palabras , a track with a mixture of minimalistic and natural sounds that make for compelling listening and perfectly showcase the he did sound. this is a classy ep from a label that the world needs to get behind as they continue to grow.

stay underground it pays returns! relatively unknown newcomer modula brings us a slab of ruff n ready analog cuts, with a real standout remix from fuckthegovernment! said remix of controllo by f.t.g is so good that it is the opener of the whole record. it’s a remix built for late night experiences, one for the warehouse, with it’s wailing, ravey vocal samples and subterranean rolling acid bassline. the a side is rounded off by modulas tape mix of controllo. doing what it says on the tin, the graininess and saturation that tape production brings is instantly noticeable. while the tape mix is not as sinister as f.t.gs remix, nor as spatially dense, its greater emphasis on synth work is bound to make it a favourite for many suit fans.the b side takes on more of techno form than the a side. kicking off with intrigo (tape edits), the pad sounds give it an ethereal atmosphere, contrasting the almost militant feel of the percussion and bassline. immerso (instrumental mix) is probably the highest energy pick of the bunch, lots of bleepy synth work and crispy power claps might make this track the djs pick of the record. all in all, a top record from modula! dont sleep on it!

here comes the first ep by grad_u on echocord. after his remix of stl on echocord 063, he is now releasing a full lenght ep. this ep contains 3 powerfull dub-techno tracks perfect for the dancefloor. born and grew up in a countryside near vilnius, lithuania. started djing in early 97, at the age of 13. been focusing on wide spectrum of sounds: house, techno, drumnbass and jungle. in early 2005 the start of grad_u project took place, focusing on deep side of techno. during the years released tracks and remixes various labels and in 2012 launched two own imprints: redscale and greyscale.

toxic is the name of the first lamp, in a series of more to come, on the cover made by remy the feyter – glass blower artist. the tracks are composed by dieter vorderhake and are a natural inspiration of 20 years of techno influence. liroconite and cornubite are natural stones with the same colors as the lamp, hence the names of the tracks. tingeling, the name of the third track, is a dutch word which will translate itself more or less into a ding-dong sound. this sound is one of the prominent sounds in the track which announces a change in the track. it is inspired on the sound the metro doors make in amsterdam when they close. the metro is ready to continue its journey… so is the song.

now living in warsaw, donnell knox was well known, along with black nation s jay denham for forging a tough, distinct kalamazoo techno sound in the 90s. his label, sonic mind, put out some very coveted, underground wax that still sounds unique, extra rugged, and fresh. well d-knox is now on a bit of a comeback mission it seems, with some really inspiring new material, and “africa calling”. the first version, created to donnell’s much loved “spirit man” alias, is a soulful trek through layers of pads and emotive synth work. the simple, but uplifting, vocal snippet really gives it an organic and spiritual feel, the tempo is driving and quick, but the overall vibe is laid back and deep. remixes come from the likes of brooklyn based titonton duvante, who maximizes a synth pattern to a form a beautiful, reaching, version, while canada’a rennie foster channels his futago traxx style to present a full on tribal, drum based mix with added vocal pieces. also, detroit transplant, now living in canada as well, j garrett goes in with a very emotional, warm, string laden take. the ep is capped off with another version from donnell that could stand as it’s own track really, a totally different, but equally as strong, version featuring a driving baseline and detroit style string vamps. a really nice release, worthy of your support, from a well loved veteran of the techno underground.

the mysterious duo project overall severity landed on fabrizio lapiana s attic music with an intense three track ep called -helene-, second installment of the new hurricane series. on the first side, in -vario 7288- they make an intricate journey immersed in a dark noir melody with powerful techno rhythms and plenty of alien sounds. -unable to assess- on the b-side turns into a hypnotic-linear sound focused on an obsessive and scientific atmosphere where the loopy drums light the way. an ambient flow closes this work, -emotional harm- is an evocative result of accurate sound design full of bleep, breaks and distorted chords.

after the last lessizmore release found san proper and maayan nidam crossing swords for the simmering, jammed-out tones of it was a night like this, now the label turns to another close ally for a slice of discerning, upfront house music. louis mcguire lives many different lives in music, from drumming with indie pop outfit ballet school to playing bass for lo-fi electronica group the waves & us. now though his own solo productions are being noticed in the house and techno world, with this new ep following on from a well-received debut on supply records. the diversity of mcguire’s musical leanings feeds into his distinctive sound, as his own take on stripped down, sensual house music bristles with unconventional energy to make for an unforgettable experience that steps up to the most creative frontiers of dance music. live drum sounds rattle around the mix free from quantized safety, while the melodic tones come on warm and fuzzy, capturing the hazy romance of a late morning session as much as the early part of the evening. it’s apparent that mcguire’s weapon of choice is the mpc, channeling his love of gritty beats in the grand tradition of point g and j. dilla. you can hear the spirit of the most adventurous micro house pioneers in the quirky funk of light hearted, while Óreitha revels in the transcendental qualities of a sustained groove without even a whisper of monotony. even with these unusual qualities the music is resolutely built for the dancefloor, and that mcguire manages to be so creative and so focused in the same beat is reason enough to keep tabs on this multifarious and unpredictable operator.

ednic is the italian duo of nicola di gabbia and edoardo cortopassi, and by all intents and purposes, they’re an outfit that’s on to a good thing right now. the guys make quality, analog-enriched house and techno, the likes of which comes to the fore here on puas puas, a vinyl only label that’s already featured the likes of the mole, alex piccini and carola pisaturo amongst others. first up on the exceptionally refined strands of the auberste ep sis the sounds of the original, which is a barnstorming cacophony of acid flourishes and tension-filled motifs. a track that’ll keep you on the edge of your seat for some time, it features shades of old-school electro and techno, and is the sort of track that’ll definitely rescue any ailing dancefloor. the aforementioned carola pisaturo then perks up with the first of her two remixes courtesy of her brilliant ‘church’ mix. a bumping and grinding interpretation on the original, it too keeps the suspense high, most notably thanks to a dizzying array of melodies and a series of potent basslines. her ‘botta’ remix is a more stripped back affair, albeit one that still speaks to fans of discerning fare thanks to its relentless attitude. full of shiny percussion and the odd sultry vocal smidgen, it’s further indication of a producer who looks set to enjoy an excellent 2015. this is classy stuff indeed from the puas puas label.

played by ricardo amongst others! big 12- release on resopal - which comes as a 16+minute version. this sounds as brilliantly mental as you d hope. the two french guys worked a travers les branches in a their very own rancho-relaxo trademark style. a big big big extended electronic excursion. this is a haunting piece which travels through a rich landscape of fine textures. we decided to release it on a single sided white coloured limited vinyl.

delsins c-series, that has so far offered up excellently deep house from son.sine and raw sounds from gunnar haslam, now welcomes sven weisemann. known for his deep, atmospheric and cuddly house and dub, he draws on the heritage of detroit and chicago at the same time as imbuing tracks with his own sense of smoky, jazz infused soul. fall of icarus contains it all, heavenly pads accompanied by rasping basslines, blissful ambient chords, buried deep drum lines and beatless dub excursions. a slowly churning current drives things along as you are left suspended in the midst of it all and this one closes out another superlative ep from both delsin and weisemann.

introducing damien zala... the next promising young frenchman to release on hold youth. although relatively unknown, his first album *lonely happiness* received strong support from theo parrish, norm talley and luke hess amongst others. combining analogue synths and drum-machines with acoustic elements and samples from old records, the trained sound engineer is a rigorous technician aiming to create sophisticated deep house atmospheres. hold youth provide a breeding ground for open-minded and innovative music, and zalas second life ep ticks all the right boxes. exploring sounds from a broad spectrum, *ms blue* is the moody opener that creates a melange of raw minimal jazz, while the b side continues in this vein with more of an obvious off-key german micro house influence. *considered done* references the late herbie hancock, sampling his voice over a flowing piano melody and punchy bass line, while *tribute to willy simon* goes all out funky, full of brass, with a classic hip hop swagger.

for the magic catalogue number -parquet100- labelhead solee and longtime parquet artists boss axis joined forces to bring us deep melodic sounds as you should know it from these guys. still here feat. the ukrainian singer yoachim is coming in 3 stunning original versions and a monster remix by spanish mastermind uner (diynamic / cadenza).

opener -she loves it- layers graceful elements, drifting sounds, pirouetting percussion and lets them slowly roll in like a thick fog. bvoice,anrilov & sickdisco deliver a more minimalistic version of -she loves it-. this guys are a great trio from moscow, analog gurus, already released on pro-tez, highway, time has changed, body parts. on the other side we have another piece of material from kirik called somewhere, which does the same job with similar elements. its melodious drum loop is the fulcrum around which densely layered hi-hats, shakers and various pads bounce and rotate. label boss, dirty culture deliver a more driven house version of somewhere, a more digestiv aproach. good vibes and melodic grooves from eastern europe, on wax!

this epic space jam hit where it hurts and showed no mercy. beyond evil production by allan goldberg (producer/arranger for santo, slang, azoto, gaznevada) with vince tempera killing it on keys, you can t go wrong on this drugged out monster! this sounds next level even now, you can only imagine what it must have sounded like in 1977, a mighty beast that kicks the discoball out of the stratosphere!

atjazz on local talk! pretty good combo right? well, just wait until you hear fox tooth and we re quite sure you ll agree with us that this is something above normal rank. martin iveson aka atjazz gave us a release that will work just as well on big sound systems as well as in those dark house basements. the original version is an electronic house jam that s equipped with all necessary tools in order to peak in the main room but without all the played out tech-house schemes. it s uplifting yet dark and carves a very personal groove - yum ! oh, don t miss the killer break down...big! the second version comes in the form of his inspired atjazz galaxy aart dub and this to be fair is more of a remix than a dub. here we step straight down to the darkness for a warming deep house cut that sounds like something from the prescription archives but still retaining the trademark atjazz sound. this is simply, sophisticated house music for those who like things real.

continuing to push that deep, raw house sound chris carrier s adult only label presents a brand new ep from slapfunk affiliate and all round funkateer, larry de kat. larry keeps the grooves rolling in his native holland, where he has close ties with the much respected slapfunk records, along with good friend anil aras. his back catalogue includes another french connection, with the young masters at lazare hoche records. this time he links up with prolific producer chris carrier to give adult only a taste of his funky medicine.
on side a we have ‘diks on gruds’, a gruff dance floor banger with a deadly bassline and ultra crisp hats, which inject a solid energy from start to finish. on the flip another french hero, phil weeks, add his stomping chicago flavour into the mix reworking the track with panache. a is ‘noodlez’, a quirky joint composed of odd sounds wriggling and whirring above a slinky bassline counterposed with choppy percussion. finally, the ep closes out with ‘um?’, a sombre affair which pumps and purrs with minimal composition – subtle effects in the arrangement bounce around the beats, while a mysterious voice creeps in and out of the background. sublime ...

bristol s kamikaze space programme joins the trust family with a blistering ep of industrial bass music. stokes croft opens with none other than prolific ninja tune artist emika as a guest, whose haunting vocals turn choke into an ear-catching hybrid of industrial bass electro and gothic pop. three percussive bangers further elaborate chris jarmans philosophy of crafting hard-edged beats from found and self-recorded sounds rather than worn and tired presets, head-strong, futuristic, and ready to obliterate stylistic stagnation with sonic innovation

the original opens with a field recording intro followed shortly after by heavy bass shots and a pulsating kick drum. snare patterns and an underwater synth melody hit the speakers with an abstract touch, while halfway through the pace changes with a new bass coming in. an experimental and brave track, it reflects idriss djing style and his long sets, going into different mental spaces, a wavelike combination of beats and up&down rhythms. eduardo de la calle s trademark analog sounds fill his tribute remix with acid keyboards, rim shot grooves, industrial noises and metallic vibes, swinging with a rolling bass line and bringing the original percussions to the fore.

the title track is a monstrous cut designed to get floors sweaty. with its futuristic synth smears, blasts of white noise and slick rubbery beats it is impossible to ignore. full of atmosphere and some ghoulish voices, it s a fine affair from this italian master. the malandra jr remix is even more tense, with industrial machine sounds zipping and fizzing about in a progressive groove, whilst martin patino deconstructs the whole thing and re-builds it as a jazzy minimal affair with sick chords, smears of colourful light and plenty of charisma. lastly, eddy romero & frink go for a dark, dubby, stripped back number that will please the real heads out there.

its release time for house is ok! frankfurt based label waited a bit longer than usual for its co-owner marko pelaic aka homeboy to come up with new sounds so it doesnt really surprise theyve decided to let him take over this, one man reign ep, first of that sort for this etiquette. kaprije is not only news for the label but homeboy himself in a way he defined it as writing a new chapter, stepping away from traditional house music, exploring more of the experimental and modern sounds a direction hes interested in continuing.
