mid june will see the launch of echocord sub-label echo echo with the ‘dream observer’ ep from grad_u. copenhagen’s echocord is a dub techno imprint with a history dating back fifteen years and a back catalogue featuring material from genre defining artists like deepchord, fluxion, sven weisemann, pole and grad_u who launches the new off shoot imprint echo.
the release opens with ‘jacob’s dream’, fifteen minutes of release date: subtly modulating synth glitches, ethereal synth drones, sweeping atmospherics and dubby echoes creating a hypnotic, ever-unfolding composition.
‘observing the night sky’ then follows on the flip side with thunderous kick drums, rumbling low-end pulses, wandering dub chords and bubbling glitches all subtly nuanced throughout the tracks ten-minute duration.

lithuania s greyscale returns this december with ohrwert’s “fidelis / blavus”, backed with remixes from xdb and grad_u.
greyscale was launched in 2012 by lithuanian producer and dj grad_u, and photographer rima prusakova, set up as a platform for material from grad_u and close friends whilst prusakova’s black and white analogue photography provides the visual identity of the label.
the original mix of “blavus” opens the ep, perfectly setting the tone with murky, ethereal atmospherics, billowing dub echoes, modulating percussion and thunderous drums before dubtechno stalwart xdb strips things back a little with soft touches of the originals airy drones tucked away in the depths whilst choppy stabs and dynamically unfolding analogue rhythms wander throughout.
the second original from ohrwert opens the flip-side, upping the energy levels slightly with hooky stab-sequences, filtered delays and hypnotic melodies running alongside a sturdy percussive foundation. lastly to round out the release grad_u reworks “blavus” into a more groove-driven workout, employing shuffled hats, looped dub chords and bumpy sub-bass hits throughout.

the essential redscale collection. contains all the tracks previously released as vinyl-only releases between 2012 and 2017. more than 2.5 hours worth of music.

we re arrived to the tenth chapter of greyscale story. it s definitely a milestone for us. for this special occasion label boss grad_u is back with umwelt , his first full length album since Òendless spaceÓ that was released back in 2012.

a slice of cyclopean, baltic techno served by grad u, well known for his greyscale/redscale project and releasing on labels like knowone, neurotron or echocord. he delivers an obscure trip through the 7th chapter of the story, warfare, the decisive battle between clones and humans for the reign of planet earth...no one is safe. this is a vinyl-only release and limited.

nebraska is someone who’s tracks we’ve been loving for a good few years now and finally managed to pin him down for a release here on delusions of grandeur. the uk producer is something of an enigma, and despite some amazing releases on rush hour still remains resolutely underground and seems to keep his releases to a minimum, focusing on keeping the quality high rather than flooding the market with average material. once again, he brings the real deal with three drum-heavy warehouse jams to nice-up the dancefloor. aw-right (mute version) sets the tone with a raw house groove that keeps things stripped to the bare minimum. a bouncing bassline and rattling percussion break help to define the track but it’s the dusty, dubby approach to the mix which really makes the track shine. next up we have warp and weft, a similar sounding track but by dropping the bpm’s nebraska has created a sublime low-slung, bumpy groove to really move to. flipping over we’re treated to the brilliant eighty eights which will have you nodding your head like the churchill’s dog before you can say ‘looped up piano and bass one bar groove repeated for over eight and a half minutes shouldn’t work should it?’

session victim love what they do. the pure joy they get from writing, producing and performing their unique blend of underground dance music oozes from their very pores, translating into pure good vibes for anyone witnessing the duo in action. as a label, we couldn’t be more proud to see their growth and development from a couple of self confessed semi-reclusive studio geeks into the globe-trotting djs and headlining live-act they have now become. with their second lp for delusions of grandeur about to drop it is easy to hear their constant drive to push themselves emanating from their new material.
