on sat002 lovework/decisions, black light smoke shows off his pop sensibilities with two sing-a-long summer anthems-in-the-making. lovework is a no-wave-inspired ditty littered with catchy analog synths, an ass-shakin bassline and reverbed claps juxtapozed with a haunting processed vocal from the producer himself that repeats, >you made a mess of my head. now i gotta put it all back together. theres nothing to say, over and over…< which is how this tune will be playing in your head after one listen. on the flip we get a taste of black light smoke in deep house mode with decisions, a lustrous and vibey joint that features a sweeter vocal by suavecito, a new guise of dj/producer and vocalist who is well known by another name. here more analog synths produce wickedly buoyant bass lines and swirling pads that combine with bubbly piano stabs and little vocal sample/edits for what sounds like it could have been a naked music release had the label been operating in 1990.

the album also features a song co-written by agnetha fältskog. although she had composed much of her swedish solo output, the song disillusion , for which she wrote the music, is the only song released on an abba album to feature a songwriting contribution from her.

clr is celebrating release number 050 with another impressive remix package. it features two remixes of two different tracks from tommy four sevens recently released debut album >primate< (clrcd010). for this occasion, none other than one of the undisputed founding fathers of detroit techno and minimal techno, robert hood, and the genre-bending dub-techno pioneer sigha have come to the table and have delivered two massive remixes of those highly innovative tracks by the british born, berlin-based producer. also included in the package are >verge<, the original track remixed by sigha, as well as another original track by the name of >g<. to understand why this is a truly memorable release, one has to know that tommy four sevens approach to music is unlike a musician. .

further to motor city drum ensembles dj kicks compilation, his exclusive single l.o.v.e. has been reworked by the young detroit prodigy kyle hall, the painter and music creator wolfgang voigt and an excellent remix by smallpeople. kyle has been highly influenced and captivated by the underground deep house sound of detroit. inspired by artists such as theo parrish, mike huckaby, rick wade, 3 chairs, kdj and omar s, who believe their music has a certain feeling of the advant garde and liberation from the so-called rules people place upon dance music. kyle took that principle of their music and applied it to music that he was trying to create. wolfgang voigt is known for his numerous, nearly inexhaustible list of one-off projects and aliases. of these, his best known is arguably >gas< a project that saw the marriage of ambient music and 4/4 techno. his remix of motor citys l.o.v.e shows his minimalistic approach to music he has been famed for worldwide. smallpeople are julius steinhoff & just von ahlefeld aka dionne. smallpeople are focused on a wider range of music and can be diverse- between deep house, detroit techno and some chicago flavours but always within the balance of atmospheric warmth and club suitability bringing yet another perfect addition to this remix package. watch out for more big tunes from smallpeople in the near future

neapolitan techno powerhouse unrilis delivers a brand new ep from gaetano parisio in the form of needing chords. up there with the likes of adam beyer, ben sims and marco carola as one of the premier exponents of european techno, parisios reputation is backed up by an enviable discography and touring schedule. needing chords, backed by a remix from another neapolitan legend in rino cerrone, is a heavy-set, muscular techno-workout which builds with unbridled intensity. cerrones remix is considerably more stripped but loses none of the originals power. moodier and with a sinister edge, its an interpretation which provides an exciting slant on the original. the skippy funk of fake stuff follows and does so with a playful urgency. threaded with a snaking white noise motif that ebbs and flows under staccato keys, its hugely hypnotic while not loosing its groove. finally, its the trippy synths of program meanings that close the ep. heavily layered the track constantly and fluidly shifts with filters revealing new combinations of layers throughout while a funk licked bassline and heavy drums do the rest. hope the usa tour was fun!

our japanese dear friend hidenobu ito is definitely overwhelming and it seems almost comically out of place. from alien hydraulics to percussive steel fractals he allows to take shape within the realm of impossibility. so, what follows next on numbolic records is a stunning lesson in subtle buildup of sound design. theres a feeling of constant movement and shaky energy that means his music never quite stands still. highly resonant and rapidly-panning drum hits act like flickering fluorescent lights. the result is a heavily abstracted layering and perhaps our most sonically release to date. every sound, no matter how tiny, is endlessly tweaked and picked apart. the 12 inch ep is rounded off with 2 prickly re-interpretations. dualism turns up the fog with a super-deep captivating and yet lovingly version. while ditch comes up with a characteristic throbbing dirty techno rework. another 4 smashing tracks by hidenobu ito are added digitally as well as two bonus remixes. kai provides a dance floor-approved version and the hungarian newcomer as we said made a cartoon spaceship to the moon. big pulsating bass kicks will drive you in that particular head-space, but before accidentally killing someone in love, we suggest go get this record instead and start dance! be numbolic!

next stop for revolution features another new recruit to our ever growing army, hybris. after his huge ep for noisias label vision and releases on critical and blackout, this producer is rapidly rising up the dnb ranks. >pyramids< sees hybris teaming up with revolution stalwart nocturnal to deliver a moody classic brimming with bubbling basslines and razor sharp beats. some serious technological wizadry going on here! >lair< takes a crisp electro-tinged beat and a perpetuating bassline and merges them together to create a deep roller with plenty of atmosphere. definitely one to get those dancefloors rumbling!
