for their 10th release manchester based label my first moth present a collaboration between two visionary artists from opposite sides of the atlantic. new york born rapper blurum 13 should need no introduction after lacing countless records from the last decade with his distinctive gravel-voiced flow, most notably the classic ninja tune album >children of possibility< which he recorded as one-third of one self alongside dj vadim and yarah bravo. producer frameworks is a relative newcomer although still fiercely prolific, having notched up collaborations with long island legends qnc and uk rapper bang on amongst others. with releases on first word records, hero records and organik recordings, frameworks is quickly forging a reputation for a solid production technique, fusing old-school sensibilities with a touch of live instrumentation and a keen ear for a killer sample.

botox present >basement love<, the first part of their second album >sans dormir<. two years after their previous lp >babylon by car<, cosmo vitelli and julien briffaz decided to unveil this new project through six different moments - call them eps - like six volumes forming a single story, each one being released every two months. the slow title-song >basement love< is released as a way of introduction, along three dancefloor remixes that lift this basement up in the air.

steve lees (the project club) above machine label returns with a superb 12 from the vendetta suite, the brainchild of gary irwin - belfast resident and long-term collaborator with david holmes. irwins inspiration comes from weatheralls seminal a love from outer space and belfasts early 90s sugar sweet nights. irwin creates two pieces both in thrall to the keeping the faith balearic scene. additional remixes are provided by disco aficionado ray mang (dfa) and nottinghams heavy dub brothers shrinkwrap. above machine are heading straight for the dance floor on this release.

the candle family are a musical duo brought together by the sound of love, and also, a love of sound. sharing their mutual admiration for isaac hayes, barry white, marvin gaye and a great swathe of obscure disco records, the candles not only intermingled musically, but also romantically.

greg wilson needs little in the way of introductions, a stalwart of both the british 80s electro-funk scene and the current disco/edit movement to boot. release #16 sees greg make a welcome return to kat after his previous outing way back in 2007, and, again, his diverse music taste comes to the table to delight.
